by Hiking Equipment (2/25/10) 271 views

Produced by RT Griffin from www.hikingequipmentsite.com Hiking Poles, also called walking poles, trekking poles, hiking sticks, walking canes, hiking canes have been an increasingly standard item of trekking gear. Poles are often your best mate when you are trekking on relatively difficult, snowy or muddy landscape. On unstable landscape, or extreme slopes, they are helpful for stability, not to mention several friends and family say they help to minimize knee problems. They may also be employed as aids when climbing rocks or boulders, to measure the depth of mud plus water and even enable a safe crossing. by Hiking Equipment (2/9/10) 205 views

Made by Dr RT Griffin from http://www.hikingequipmentsite.com The time spent on this Hiking Holiday in the Tuscany region of Northern Italy was superb. Tuscany was a delightful experience with stunning landscapes and ancient cities. Virtually every village had art treasures to stir the imagination of times gone by. We stayed in Albiano, close to Barga in the area of Garfagna, meaning enchanted wood, in Northern Tuscany, located between the Appennine mountains and the Alpi Apuane mountains. Henley In Arden Day Hiking! Get Fit In Nature The Social Way! 06:09

Henley In Arden Day Hiking! Get Fit In Nature The Social Way!

by Hiking Equipment (12/18/09) 108 views

Made by Dr RT Griffin from hikingequipmentsite.com Steve Dell of Fizz Leisure organised and led this group Figure of Eight Day Hiking for SPICE, from the lovely village of Henley in Arden, England. Henley is a lovely historic village with pubs, cafes and of course the famous ice cream shop! Both the morning and afternoon hikes were around 4½ miles and both were fairly easy. However, the wind, rain and mud made the hike a little more strenuous than we had planned. The morning hiking started from the famous Henley High Street and then followed the Heart of England Way, a long distance footpath. We passed the site where Beaudesert Castle once stood and walked along field paths through farmland. There were a couple of gradients but not too strenuous, as we took our time. At the end of the morning hike, lunchtime, some people went to a pub briefly for refreshment whilst we ate our packed lunch on a bench in the street! By this time, there had been a break in the clouds and the rain had stopped. The afternoon hiking started from the same location and used the Heart of England way, in the opposite direction, and also the Arden Way. This route also used field paths through farmland and took in the hamlets of Hallend, Ullenhall and Oldberrow. This day hiking was rather wet and windy. At the end we retreated to a pub on the High Street where we enjoyed a drink, a meal and the company of fellow hikers. A Great Week's Hiking Holiday Based Around Kas In Turkey! 03:37

A Great Week's Hiking Holiday Based Around Kas In Turkey!

by Hiking Equipment (12/17/09) 158 views

Made by Dr RT Griffin from hikingequipmentsite.com Our base for this week long hiking holiday was the charming port town of Kas in the middle of the historic Lycian Region on the south west coast of Turkey. Kas is a hidden treasure for those who want to get away from mass tourism and take a relaxing holiday discovering several unspoiled areas. This hiking holiday was over 8 days, including 2 days travel, with 4 days of hiking at a moderate level, a day off and a day on the water, either kayaking or a boat trip. The hiking group was small and friendly which meant that everyone had the chance to get to socialise with each other. A Great Week's Hiking Holiday In Andalucia, Spain!

by Hiking Equipment (12/16/09) 204 views

Made by Dr RT Griffin from hikingequipmentsite.com This hiking holiday was in the region of Andalucia, a beautiful mountainous area in Southern Spain. We stayed in a white mountain village called Competa, in the Tejeda National Park, only an hour drive from Malaga airport. This area was fantastic for hiking in the Sierras Tejada and Almijarra with spectacular scenery and views. This week long hiking holiday consisted of 5 days of day hikes, each taking around 4 to 6 hours to complete. The line-up of hikes included local villages, travelling along mule tracks and traditional routes on which we spotted some exotic wild flowers, birds and butterflies. We were in a small friendly group of hikers which enabled everyone to get to know each other. We also had a day off hiking to do as we pleased. My Week Long Hiking Holiday On The Island Of Mallorca 03:49

My Week Long Hiking Holiday On The Island Of Mallorca

by Hiking Equipment (12/14/09) 322 views

Made by Dr RT Griffin from hikingequipmentsite.com My Hiking Trip was in Mallorca, Spain and was a terrific experience. We escaped the hustle and bustle of the bay of Palma, Mallorca in a pretty unblemished corner of the island that gave us the chance for gentle shoreline hikes but also tougher hiking in the hills and mountains. The countryside offered riches, such as medieval villages and fantastic landscapes over the Mediterranean coast and there was a bounty of flora and fauna.
