Acoustic Compilation CD available to buy from Website. http://www.TheZodiacSessions.com http://www.myspace.com/thezodiacsessions http://www.youtube.com/thezodiacsessions http://www.bebo.com/thezodiacsessions Johnny Stewart playing "Summer In Spring" at The Zodiac Sessions singer / songwriter night held in Bruxelles bar of Dublin, every Wednesday night. JOHNNY STEWART I wrote my first proper song in September '07 and didn't really think much about it. Then, the following February a lightbulb turned on in my head and songs started writing themselves. My songs are born of what i do and what others do and life in general. I suddenly began to feel at home writing songs, and my writing style started evolving quickly and continues to change to sound more mature. I tend to use my songs as my emotional outllet and they show that, I don't write songs for anyone else but myself, but if even one other person likes them, it's amazing. So I continue to write and evolve as a songwriter, and I want to try and take it as far as I can. I am currently trying to record ten or twelve of my songs at home with a full live band. I don't know how long it will take but I will keep you posted. Anyone looking to gig, get in touch with me. Enjoy. http://www.myspace.com/johnnystewartmusic

Acoustic Compilation CD available to buy from Website. http://www.TheZodiacSessions.com http://www.myspace.com/thezodiacsessions http://www.youtube.com/thezodiacsessions http://www.bebo.com/thezodiacsessions Joe McKenna playing "Margerita" at The Zodiac Sessions singer / songwriter night held in Bruxelles bar of Dublin, every Wednesday night. JOE MCKENNA Joe Mckenna is a 28 year old irsh singer/songwriter original from Belfast but now living in Dublin. Having began teaching himself music at 16 Joe gradually grew in ability and in the summer of 2000 set off for New york with his bag, notebook and guitar. While there Joe began his live career playing the cafes and bars of the east and greenwich village. No sooner had that beagn than Joe was signed up by a production company and paraded before major labels as the next big thing. But the demographic contstraints of the music business and Joe's inherent need to just write songs that where real caused a major split in the company and they parted ways. In the aftermath joe went about recording with friends and then took his journey back to Ireland, where after great success (Solas sessions singer/songwriter of 2004 award, runner up in the Drogheda song contest) he independently released his debut E.P with major help from producer Declan Legge of Big Space Studios in his home town of Belfast. Joe's release was met with great response that included a headline at the Imagine Arts Festival of Waterford and a live session with BBC radio in Belfast aswell as numerous appearances on other Irish radio staions. Now in the process of putting together his album again with Big Space Joe has some very exciting work in the pipeline. So if you like songs that can sway from the dark to the cheesy with alot of soul keep in touch and enjoy the tracks on my space. One Love. http://www.myspace.com/joemckenna

Sarah Gleeson - 5 Day Return (Zodiac Sessions)

    by Jazzmanbf (4/28/09) 267 views

Acoustic Compilation CD available to buy from Website. http://www.TheZodiacSessions.com http://www.myspace.com/thezodiacsessions http://www.youtube.com/thezodiacsessions http://www.bebo.com/thezodiacsessions Sarah Gleeson playing "5 Day Return" at The Zodiac Sessions singer / songwriter night held in Bruxelles bar of Dublin, every Wednesday night. SARAH GLEESON Sarah Gleeson started playing guitar when she was 15. She wasnt very good, so she gave up for about 6 months, as it made her fingers really sore. Then she felt a but guilty cos her parents had splashed out on a pretty nice Tanglewood (well, nice for a first guitar) so this spurred her on to continue, however hamfistedly. The first song she learned to play was American Pie by Don Mclean. When Sarah finally crash landed in UCC in 2003 after a drunken year of tomfoolery and nothing, she started writing songs, little ditties really. Just about boys and kissing and things like that. Then someone some night said "Hey theyre quite good, do you want to do a gig?" and Sarah said "Hmmm...yeah, i think i do!" So she did her first real gig in the Cruiscin Lan in Cork and thought, hey this is fun, maybe i shoud write some more songs... In 2005 Sarah entered a singer/songwriter competition in Cork which was being held in the pub net door to her flat. and after weeks of heats she found herself in the grand final. Then she found herself winning it and singing The Auld Triangle to a room full of Corkonians. Smart move eh? In an ironic twist of fate, the prize was a semi acoustic Tanglewood. If this was a Behind The Music doumentary, the voiceover artist (preferably Ron Howard) would say somthing like "Sarah's music career to this point had come full circle". So, skip to age 24. Its now years later and Sarah is still writing little ditties...but as she has grown up so has her lyric style and subject matter. She is doing support slots here and there, but is mostly working away on songs so that she might eventually get her act together and record an EP. She still cant play standing up though, and thinks that maybe she and Liza Minnelli DO have something in common; vertigo. If you would like a cd please send an email with your address to sarahgleeson@msn.com http://www.myspace.com/sarahgleesonmusic

Acoustic Compilation CD available to buy from Website. http://www.TheZodiacSessions.com http://www.myspace.com/thezodiacsessions http://www.youtube.com/thezodiacsessions http://www.bebo.com/thezodiacsessions Tyrone Relph playing "Wear Your Cross" at The Zodiac Sessions open mic night, Dublin, Ireland. TYRONE RELPH July 2004 Tyrone Left his record labels Studio in Belfast to record his new album on a portable recording desk in a small 1 room studio Built behind his house, there were no producers, managers or engineers involved in the creative process. Tyrone said "I've worked in some of the biggest and best studios but there has always been a producer or manager trying to make me sound radio friendly or attractive to a certain demographic. Never have I had the feeling of total artistic freedom till now. The songs on this record are everything to me, its my soul on a plastic disc. I allowed noone other than myself and my band into the sessions. It was so relaxed, maybe sometimes too relaxed. We would all sit in my studio(Bunker Studios) doing what musicians do and when the mood was exactly right then we would record the songs...live. Tyrones new album is so different than anything he has ever done before he almost changed the name he performs and released records under. " We all sat round talking after recording wrapped and we were worried about reconciling the leap from our last record and even considered going out under a band name, but its not about image - its about being honest in your songs and hopefully people will feel it with me." Having split with his record label in November 2004 Tyrone will be releasing the record on his own label - Bunker Influence records (B.I Records) - The split was apparently due to the fact that The new record was a lot darker, heavier and containing numerous expletives. Tyrone said " I didn't set out to write a dark album with cursing all over it - its just the way it came out of me, its an angry record and I was not willing to water it down for any commercial reason" Tyrone will be doing his second nationwide tour on this abum including both solo acoustic shows and shows with his full band. " Its the touring that really gives something back to the people who bought and love the record. We have always been keen on playing live from probably one of my first big shows in Manchesters "In the City" festival in 1998 with such great bands as Happy Mondays and Coldplay till last years tour which we were lucky enough to play support to some of Irelands greatest like Hot House Flowers, The Frank and Walters and Ex Thin Lizzy Member Eric Bell. But more recently sharing the bill on Dublins prestigious Ruby Sessions stage with new Atlantic records Signing James Blunt. An Electric Live performer - Big Buzz Magazine A Louder David Grays' "White ladder" Given the melodic Beauty Of Damien Rices "O" - The Evening Echo "You will live the heartache with him" - In the city Fanzine Manchester The Album Entitled "the reasons we bleed" will be released on B.I records (Bunker influence records)Ireland in Feb/05 http://www.myspace.com/tyronerelph

Acoustic Compilation CD available to buy from Website. http://www.TheZodiacSessions.com http://www.myspace.com/thezodiacsessions http://www.youtube.com/thezodiacsessions http://www.bebo.com/thezodiacsessions Jimi Cullen playing "Small Minded People" at The Zodiac Sessions singer / songwriter night held in Bruxelles bar of Dublin, every Wednesday night. JIMI CULLEN Jimi is a solo musician from Gorey, South East Ireland. He has been writing and performing for about three years and has built a good reputation as one of the hardest working musicians in Ireland with over 500 gigs to his credit. Needless to say such hard work is resulting in an increasing number of fans who are moved by his music and his song "On the Street" has surely got to be the anthem for all the homeless people in the world. When he sings that song you can almost touch the emotion he arouses in his listeners. It all began with Jimi hitchhiking around Ireland to his first gigs until he could afford a car at which time he started playing wherever he could and has since played some of Irelands finest stages with some of Irelands top acts like John Spillane, Paddy Casey, Declan O Rourke, The Revs, Aslan, David Kitt, Jinx Lennon, Mary Coughlan, Eleanor Mc Evoy, Roesy and the list goes on. His debut e.p. "Anthems for the doomed youth pt.1" was released to good acclaim in 2005 and has since sold over 600 copies. His Debut album “When the last leaf falls” was released in 2007 and to date has sold over 1,000 copies receiving good reviews in Hotpress and the Evening Herald and has also been picking up good radio play. Jimi's new album "The Junkyard poet" was just released on the 27th of June 08 and has already been getting some good interest both nationally and internationally with one track "Messed up world" being released in California on the acoustika vol.11 compilation album on 272 records. http://www.myspace.com/jimicullen
