Seasonal Allergies affects 20-25% of Canadians and up to 75% of people with asthma. If poorly managed, it can increase the likelihood of asthma attacks, visits to the emergency room and hospitalizations. Believed to worsen the condition, seasonal allergies often precedes the onset of asthma.

Seasonal allergies or hay fever are often triggered by pollen from trees i ...n early spring, followed by grasses in late spring and weeds throughout the summer and fall. Ragweed is the main culprit in the fall, especially in southern zones of central Canada. Inhaling allergens, like pollen, may provoke an allergic reaction in the delicate nasal lining and may also cause inflammation further along the airways.

The Association has created two short videos to raise awareness about the effects asthma and seasonal allergies have on quality of life.
