Yeah no real reason ay :D My ultimate goal with this project is to cover all the basics and then move up so that people have the knowledge to then go to whichever PIC suits their needs.... pointless trying to cover every PIC.... guess I just thought that the 16F84A was a basic enough PIC with not too much going on... so hopefully people will get their heads round it better :D....btw guys sorry but I’ve been on holidays and it looks like I’m going to be on another one soon.... so ill see how I go getting the next vid out.... -
Why PIC 16F84a instead of 16F628a?

Since the PIC 16F84a is fast going out of style, it makes sense to use the 627/628 with the higher 20mhz osc or the internal oscillator and more port pins. Don't get me wrong, I love what you're doing, I'm a 12F508/509 guy which is also on it's way out. -

theres a minor technical error in the 16^2 cell. I am real keen to learn as this series progresses so keep up the good work.
