Hi my name is Levi leon Boree
, let me start by saying
I am kind of cheating by letting the computer write some of this for me.
Using a program that converts speech to text .
. I never thought I could write some thing like this
Because I grew up with a learning disability called dyslexia,
Basically it tries to inhibit me from being able to interpret writ ...ten language.
I've always had very good communication skills,
But I had a lot of trouble putting verbal communication into a code
for example ABC's and 123's, and it just so happens that's how all schools teach.
The best teachers I ever had were the ones that would read aloud,
that was the quickest way for me to understand what they were teaching,
or the one's that did not require us to read ,
they allowed us to use our imaginations
even the ones that would read aloud would still give the test
that requires us to put what we have learned into code
, and it's a really helpless feeling when I know the answers in my head
but can't get them on to the paper.
AND because I couldn't tell the difference between me and the other children,
(Except for the fact that they were able to do it easily)
it really made me feel dumb,
So of course I hated school and found my self drawing on things
Like the desk and books but I soon found out
that the teachers didn’t like that,,,,
and when they told us to take notes
I would quickly scratch out little pictures
to remind me of the answers
this worked great ,but when they caught me
they would take my notes crumble them up
and tell me this was unacceptable,,,, and this went on for years,
Until my mom found this book called "The Gift of Dyslexia"
and the words within it made me feel a lot better about my situation.
I shared almost all the characteristics of a dyslexic child.
I also learned that dyslexia actually has
more positive benefits than negative ones,
and that I was very capable of learning with the right teaching method.
MY DYSLEXIA GIVES ME SUPER CREATIVE ABILITIES
HOWEVER I AM SOMEWHAT MENTALLY DISORGANIZED AT TIMES
MY VISUAL IMAGINATION IS SUPERB
IT SOMETIMES BLOWS ME AWAY
I CAN VISUALIZE THINGS IN MY MIND THAT I COULD NEVER EXPLAIN IN WORDS
BUT I CAN'T ALWAYS CONTROL WHAT I SEE
AT AGE 10 OR SO I USED TO CLOSE MY EYES JUST TO WATCH
WHAT I CALLED… THE BATTLE OF THE DOTS ,,IT WAS WHEN
RED WHITE AND BLUE DOTS
SEEMED TO MARCH ACROSS MY FIELD OF VISION
TOWARDS ONE ANOTHER IN STRAIGHT LINES AND IN TRIANGULAR FORMATIONS
WHEN THE DOTS WOULD FINALLY MERGE
THEY WOULD CHANGE COLOR AND DIRECTION
I loved it,
But I don’t see them anymore,
They must have been a phase in my mental development
my visuals now are more complex and hard to come by
that’s why art is amazing to me
It seems to enhance my natural ability to imagine
Things that that don’t even exist
by staring at it for long amounts of time
I can begin to paint new pictures in my head
Using the techniques I have learned visually.
One of my goals as an artist is to create many windows
In which we can look out of this world and into a new
world of vision, so that each one is like a vacation from reality.
Dyslexia has been proven to be a learned
behavior, so it must be possible
to enhance your dyslexic abilities
through the right teaching methods
art seems to be a great subject of study
and I am not talking about the history of art
I am talking about visually studying
many different styles of abstract art
And each piece will slightly enhance
your visual imagination, after all it seems
to be the most important brain function we have
but no one seems to try to improve it
or even thinks it’s possible but seeing is believing and I know it works
because I’ve seen it with my own brain
so I have gone to grate extent to produce many different pieces
of visual art that seem to have the most physiological effects
no matter how long you
stare at it,, you keep finding new things you recognize
that some people can’t even see
Believe it or not
its very chalnging for the brain to do
but to us it sees easy
so try it out you won’t regret it
