From http://www.dreadcentral.com : The best part of the LA Screamfest Film Festival? You just never know what awesome people might show up to support our beloved genre! Case in point: this past Friday night during the Night of the Demons premiere at the Mann Theatre in Hollywood, Dread Central had the pleasure of catching up with none other than David Arquette. Arquette, whose beloved character now goes by the name of Sheriff Dewey Riley, spoke to Dread Central about the latest installment in Wes Craven’s Scream franchise, which just wrapped production in Michigan. The second annual Reaper Awards descended onto the historic Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood on Tuesday, October 12th, in high fashion as the hotel was packed to celebrate the best horror titles released over the last year on DVD and Blu-Ray. The Reaper Awards were hosted by Dread Central’s own fearless leader, Steve “Uncle Creepy” Barton, and the awards themselves (The Grimmys) are given out as part of a collaborative effort between Dread and Home Media Magazine to put the spotlight on genre titles which mainstream award shows generally overlook. From http://www.dreadcentral.com/news/40135/enter-almaverse-new-fear-3-trailer - The third installment of F.E.A.R. delivers a heart-pounding paranormal horror experience, showcasing intense combat, compelling narrative and divergent co-op play that evolves the franchise. Alma returns for F.E.A.R. 3, but this time her sons, Point Man and Paxton Fettel, will be playable as two distinctly unique experiences in co-operative play. To further ensure extreme terror in F.E.A.R. 3, legendary horror mastermind John Carpenter (Halloween) and critically acclaimed horror comic and script writer Steve Niles (30 Days of Night) provided consultation. From http://www.dreadcentral.com/news/40132/event-report-queen-marys-dark-harbor-haunt - We here at Dread Central are big haunted attraction junkies, and you won’t find better theme park mazes than the ones in the greater Los Angeles area. But how many of them take place at an actual haunted location? If you want to get your Halloween thrills on in one of the world’s most infamous haunts, look no further than Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor in Long Beach, CA. As if the Queen Mary weren’t creepy enough on its own, the twisted minds behind Dark Harbor have loaded it up with five haunted mazes, a stage with live bands, and an outdoor bar and lounge. Just don’t expect to drink in peace because the entire place is one giant scare zone with costumed freaks around every corner (we’re still not sure how many of the “ghosts” were actors). From http://bit.ly/cIQhlZ (Part 3 of 4) : They say in Hollywood there are no sure bets. For this writer, I beg to differ because my sure bet is always writer/producer/director Guillermo del Toro. When I heard that del Toro would be attending the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con to promote the latest project he’s producing, the Troy Nixey-helmed Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, I knew I had to be front and center to get the lowdown on this supernatural thriller.
