    The Mint (LA) 02:15

    The Mint (LA)

    by grubbersdelight (5/23/08) 267 views

grubbersdelight.com This little joint is the definition of timeless as it has been open since 1937 and harkens back to the Super Clubs of days past where guests can sit around a stage and enjoy a show while also enjoying a delicious burger. The scene at the Mint is all about exclusivity as the club is decorated in dark wood furnishings, velvet curtains, gold chandeliers and “money green” dÈcor, as well as black clothed tables and ritzy leather booths. If you find your way back behind a two-way mirror, you’ll find that The Mint also offers an exclusive VIP lounge decorated with homages of Jazz and Blues greats, almost giving you the feel that you are in a 1930’s speak easy. Very cool! Even if you don’t find your way through the looking glass, The Mint has a lot to offer, as on any given night, you will be serenaded by contemporary jazz and blues tunes. And on other nights, for an entirely different sort of crowd, you can find your indie favorites up on stage.

    The Gulfstream (LA

    by grubbersdelight (5/22/08) 58 views

grubbersdelight.com The Gulfstream prides itself in having great seasonal selections from local markets and assures that any dish you choose to order will be of the freshest nature. Unlike many of your other “upper class” burger joints, The Gulf Stream puts the focus where it matters, on the food. While the food is fantastic, and offers only the best in its ingredients, the menu is fairly limited, offering only a few straightforward meat and fish dishes, but, once you’ve ordered and your food has arrived, you’ll absolutely love it. And if the high quality of food isn’t enough to draw you in, maybe it’s almost perfect Santa Monica location will do it. And probably Gulf Stream’s best feature, the reasonable prices. That’s right food lovers; you can actually get an affordable gourmet burger in Santa Monica.

    The Counter (LA)

    by grubbersdelight (5/22/08) 82 views

grubbersdelight.com Hi, and welcome to grubber’s delight.com, I’m your host, Catherine Cronenberg, and today we’re stopping by at The Corner. The Corner is a meek namesake for this dominating pale blue walled burger shop. It’s located in an upscale mini-mall, and its burgers are definitely up scale. Each burger is meticulously made to order and can be customized by weight, types of cheese, buns, sauces or whatever else you heart desires. All the typical toppings are available here, and for just a bit more, some specialty topping such as sautÈed mushrooms or artichoke hearts are available as well. While the burgers are top of the line, you may fins some of the house rules very Gestapo like, as they will not allow you to sit before ordering, and calling ahead here will only garner a rude response. But, if it’s the taste of a delicious, perfectly cooked burger, you’re after, and not necessarily the service, The Counter is a must stop shop on your journeys.

    The Bungalow Club (LA)

    by grubbersdelight (5/22/08) 189 views

grubbersdelight.com The Bungalow club is both a restraint and a bar located right on the Melrose strip and a great way to spend an evening out on the town, as well as enjoy a delicious burger, or whatever your desire from the grill. The Bungalow club features a very trendy atmosphere with a Moroccan flair, as well as candlelit bungalows on the patios, leafy tropical plants and a trickling waterfall, giving this place the feel of a true oasis. The electronic beats played in the background, along with its trendy, but not trashy, crowd, makes the Bungalow a great hamburger stop, and maybe even a great place for a first date.

    The Polo Lounge (LA)

    by grubbersdelight (5/22/08) 1,095 views

The Beverly Hotel is a historical site, and the Polo lounge offers its guest a very memorable dining experience with lush green walls, leather booths and a huge patio hidden amongst flowering vines, pink archways and ancient oak trees. For the food, it is a bit pricy, at 36 dollars for a “kobe-stlye” burger, but is one of the most mouth watering burgers you will ever sink your teeth into. The Polo lounge, along with its great tasting burgers, offers an array of Cal-Asian cuisine, but, after taking in the atmosphere, the food almost seems secondary here. If it’s atmosphere you’re after, and there are no budgetary concerns, The Polo Lounge at the Beverley is a good choice; on the other hand, if you’re looking for bang for your buck, or simply a quality meal, it might be best to search elsewhere.

    The Rosebud Steakhouse

    by grubbersdelight (5/22/08) 91 views

The Rosebud Steakhouse is truly a uniquely Chicago restraint as this is definitely the place to find the best tasting burger in town, but, to get that burger, you’re going to have to get over the fact that you’re ordering a hamburger from a tuxedoed captain. Once you get over the absurdity, you’ll realize you are in burger heaven, and what’s especially nice is that all patrons, whether ordering a 30 dollar steak or a 9.00 burger, are treated the same. The service is impeccable. The burger’s themselves are huge, at 12 ounces a piece, and are cooked right to order and stuffed inside a soft, delicious, pretzel bun. Whether with cheese, or without, with tomatoes or without, this juicy burger will satisfy you, guaranteed.

    Village Pizzeria (LA)

    by grubbersdelight (5/15/08) 73 views

grubbersdelight.com When owner and Paul Sarkis and his partners started the first VILLAGE PIZZERIA in San Francisco in the late ‘70s, they brought a little Brooklyn to their menu. They believed they could combine Brooklyn flavor with California’s, producing their own brand of a truly great pizza. In 1996, Sarkis’ parlor made its way onto the LA scene, in the quiet Larchmont neighborhood. Since then, this little slice of paradise has been pleasing LA Locals with its giant thin crust slices, fresh toppings, and best of all, glorious cheeses!
