I should have known better because I've had several HP's with few problems. This works well with iDevices both just wirelessly (called AirPrint) or using the printer's email address if you're away from home and want to print something. A nice plus is that efax is on the printer to send/receive up to 20 faxes monthly free over the Internet (no phone line needed). This is a great feature for me as I have no land line, just DSL. It automatically duplexes unless you turn that feature off, which is a nice paper saver. It's only day 1, but so far very happy with printer! I particularly like the automatic 2-sided printing, a feature I never had before. The user friendly touchscreen is an excellent size while the pull out paper tray provides ease of loading. The 6510 has a 12" x 17" footprint although the loading tray, closed, protrudes another 2.5" deep x 10" wide in the front. The printed page returns to you also in the front. This frees up the rear enabling use of the machine with its back against a wall, a necessary space saver in my situation: My unit is perched on a 12" x 24" wall shelf, out of the way, wireless and ready to run. The 6510 has no automatic feeder. I mention this mainly to lighten my load, for surely I find it a much simpler task enumerating what it DOESN'T have rather than what it DOES have. HP has other models that do have automatic feeders. Besides an automatic feeder there is nothing lacking here. The 6510 produces exquisite, professional, lab quality photos. I, personally, do not print that many photos, but whenever I do I do like what I see. When it comes to printers I'm a fan of HP. Nevertheless, I researched other brands. Ultimately, I did not find reason to switch. The fact that the 6510 uses four (4) ink cartridges (black, cyan, magenta and yellow) rather than the standard two (2)--which I'm used to--was not a favorable idea to me at first, but I succumbed to the concept and am glad that I did. Those trifling doubts, confused concerns--all categorically unwarranted.

I was initially skeptical of purchasing the HP because I have had problems with other HP printers. I also read reviews on other sites saying the printer was not fully compatible with Mac OX X Lion. But I decided the feature set was too irresistible not to give it a try. I received the printer from Amazon quicker than I expected and was excited to set it up. Unfortunately, the setup was a nightmare from the moment that I turned the printer on. The printer has a really nice touchscreen but no physical buttons other than the power button. When you plug in the printer, the first thing that the setup program prompts you for is a language. I pushed what I was thought was English but apparently my finger actually activated another language nearby and from that point forward I could not read any of the setup screen prompts. I fumbled through a few buttons that I thought might work, but finally the process ended in an error message in a foreign language that I couldn't exit out of. I called tech support, who tried to help me do a factory reset, but they actually couldn't figure out how to make the printer return to factory settings! Apparently previous models had a combination of key presses that could factory reset the machine, but the touchscreen makes this process more complicated. There is supposed to be an area of the panel that you push four or five times to bring up a service menu, but my touchscreen was completely unresponsive.

I just went ahead with the updated 110 model this past weekend. The printer was a breeze to set up. My PC established an ad hoc wi-fi network with it and securely transmitted at my primary home network's info securely to the printer itself and then switched both back to my regular wi-fi network (802.11g with WPA2). After that completed, the printer "just worked" without requiring any configuration on the printer itself. Printing from my laptop or from my iPhone works perfectly. Earlier reviews had talked about the tray and panel not closing properly - that all seems to be working fine for me. The printer is almost silent in its operation. It's so sleek and stylish that it looks perfectly in place sitting on an side table in my living room. I haven't used the e-fax feature yet but am glad to have it. For the occasional sending or receiving of faxes, being able to do so without a land line is a welcome feature. It costs a bit more but the design and operation are superior to the inexpensive options, in my opinion.

Although the Pixma MG8120 does not print large format we no longer need that feature. There is a newer version of this printer the MG8220 but according to on line reviews there is such slight change from the MG8120 we decided to save money and go with last years model. Step by step Set up is shown right on the screen and easy to follow. Set up was a bit trickier for WiFi network with the Apple Router but Canon website provides an excellent on line walk through. Our main interest is excellent photo and art print capabilities. The Pixma MG8120 fits the bill. Printed an image of one of my paintings. I used the canon matte photo paper the results were impressive even in standard mode. Photo quality is beautiful and true to the screen image. I like the double tray idea for plain paper and photo paper. I would recommend this for home and studio but NOT office as the paper slot only accommodates 25 pieces of paper. Very impressed with slide scanning. Color true to actually slides with software that enables you to make adjustments on the fly. At 1200dpi it takes approximately 30 seconds per slide, takes a bit to warm up so you might want to line up slides to do. You can scan at lower and higher resolutions. You can print from your cellphone through Bluetooth however you must purchase the plug in which is a bit pricey.
