I have been studying the book of Revelation and the Bible as a whole for about 20 years. For the first 10 years I thought I had found the truth through authors like Hal Lindsey, Jack Van Impe, Dave Hunt, and ot ...hers. Needless to say I was a strong willed premillennialist with a strong belief that we were in the last days. I spent countless hours with Bible dictionaries, lexicons, and many commentaries. None of this led me to the truth of the book of Revelation. God during my studies took a brick out of the wall of that theology. I come to understand that the New Jerusalem was the Church of all believers, that now exists, and not some futuristic city. I then began to see other points of revelation in a new and different light with a spiritual application to the life of Jesus. After all, it is the Revelation of Jesus Christ. The book symbolizes, much through the eyes of a Jewish understanding of the Old Testament, the plan of God fulfilled in Jesus at the time of the cross. We view in the book of Revelation various accomplishments of Jesus. All of these accomplishments and fulfilled prophecies were fulfilled at the cross when Jesus said, "It is finished."
