No more vet visits! Yay! Well, at least for this moment! I just shot the above video today to show you a better view of how Alera reacted to his new diet/food, which is wet can food. I have mixed the food with cranberry relief as usual. He was banging the door, lol, it was funny how excited he was. I noticed he love this type of food instead of dry kibbles. In the video I did mentioned that he urinated very little, but that's not the case, at the end of the video, the whole diaper was soaked with urine! Yellowish urine, fortunately! The wound also has became stiffer and there was like an extra dried skin on top when you touch it. And because of this, he bitten himself again! Yes, again while I was chatting online with a friend (Melissa) on my ustream live feed. The video below was recorded with ustream built in recorder. You might want to check it out too. Anyway, I have cleaned the wound and applied again the rowarolan powder. ustream live feed url below : http://ustream.tv/channel/living-days-livecam

Usual medication was given to Alera today, a jab of antibiotic, vitamin B-complex and a pill. The urination is getting better, not that reddish anymore. However, when look closer under microscope, it still contain some blood cells which we can't see with out bare eyes. The wound has healed properly. The vet also said he is not dehydrated anymore. When I left the vet, I was a bit hurry and left the collar cone there on the table. So tonight I have to let Alera by himself without the collar. I found one of Bobo's puppy shirt and put it on. It fits well on Alera but just doesn't covered Alera's wound fully. He looks pretty handsome on it. Hopefully he won't bite the wound tonight. His doesn't like the low pH dry food and I have to force feed him, but he did drink glucose and water by his own when I gave it to him. The vet said he has to be on low pH food, at least for this period of time. ps : Alera still bit himself when I last cleaned him at 10:40 pm. I have no choice and had to make a cone that similar with the collar cone from cardboard and masking tapes. My fault for not bringing back the cone.

10:25 am According to the doc, it might be the psychological effect that Alera has bitten himself. I hope I spelled that word correctly. Anyways, the doc has cleaned the wound with chlorhexidine (antiseptic solution) and applied Rowarolan (calcium carbonate) powder on Alera. He told me the powder will work better and faster than cream. I was told to wash the wound twice daily. Alera is getting better each day and this shows a good recovery process. I hope the blood test result turn up okay too. Will have to wait and see.

I have some good news and some bad news. Well, I will start with the good news first. Alera was a bit active today at the vet. The doc gave him the same antibiotic and vitamin. He was on drip too for 15 minutes with glucose. The urination also has shown some good sign, not as much blood as the first 2 days. He drank by himself too while came back from the vet. Ok, now the bad news. If you have followed my ustream live streaming videos and you can see all the recorded videos here, Alera has bitten himself again! Yes, again, on the spot where the doc has shaved him. The wound is very red and large comparing to last time. I got to know only when came back from suppper around 11:30pm. I was in shock and without delay, cleaned his wound with clean water and applied the cream that the other vet gave me last time. I am not sure why he bitten himself but I am sure it must have been very itchy. This is very sad as he is on his way to recovery and another incident occured! I will bring him to vet tomorrow and see what the vet will say about this.

Today is one of those 'difficulty' days. Alera urinated a lot since afternoon and it is still going on. I have changed 3 diapers in a row within half an hour. The belly just full of urine. He usually drink lots of water everyday but he doesn't urinate everyday though like the rest. He is not feeling very well and moody. Sometimes he would hold the urine until a day or two then would let it out little by little. But today he seemed to let out A LOT. I brought him to vet after that and it was getting worst, he urinated with blood. The following is what the vet has told me. 1. Lower urinary tract infection 2. Bladder distension due to cystitis 3. Hematuria-urine with blood. The vet performed some scanning process on Alera and according to him the kidneys are alright. It is just the bladder contain lots of urine ( dirty urine ). He has given Alera a shot of antibiotic and some pain killer. He also recommended low ph food for Alera and asked me not to feed him with current food that I have at home. The low ph food is from Ekanuba. Alera is not eating and lost his appetite and he just hide himself at the corner of the cage.

It's late, around 11:30pm, Bee Bee and I saw this furry dog lying down and not moving in the middle of the Jelutong Express Highwa It's late, around 11:30pm, Bee Bee and I saw this furry dog lying down and not moving in the middle of the Jelutong Express Highway.Nobody seemed to care much as you can see in the video below. Not even a single car pulled over and checked the dog out, can you believe that? This is very sad indeed. From far, I told Bee Bee there was a dog in the middle of the highway. I pulled over, parked my car, put on the hazard lights and walked towrads the dog with my digital camera. When I went near, I thought he was still alive, really, the body feels warm and there were no blood. He probably just died not long ago. He must have been hit by a car. I started to take some photos and because Bee Bee doesn't have bigger bags in her car, we didn't carry him right away. However I moved him to the side pavement. Called Khairul for help and we came back with some plastic bags to wrap him up. We drove the carcass to SPCA Penang after that

It's been a while since I last updated on Baby Alera. I have taken many short clips of my fur kids very frequently and my hard drive space is running out! I will considering getting one external hard drive for backups, you know, I don't want to loose all the precious photos of my fur kids and their videos too. Anyway the video below was taken somewhere in mid october 2007 and I just found a piece music which I think might work on the video. I love teasing Alera whenever he is taking a nap, evil me! He never got angry with me, not even once. Usually all my fur kids will be sleeping or taking naps before their dinner, between 2pm till 4.30pm. Ok, just a short update anyway and I hope you will like the video :)

We spotted this two monkeys a week ago at 'Dewan Sri Pinang', a place that showcases artsy event such as symphony orchestra, live theatre, jazz jams, cultural dances and various art exhibitions throughout the year. Recently the surrounding inside the building has been reconstructed and they have brought in many animals such as small various birds, rabbits, lizards, peacocks and lastly monkeys. The cage for the monkeys is extremely small and there is obviously no space for such active animal. The cage dimension measured approximately 6 feet tall and 4 feet wide as you can see in the video above. There isn't any small gap of divider to separate humans from reaching them also. Anybody can stand very close to the animals and birds. This will eventually create stressful emotion on the animals especially from mischievous children behaviors. They shouldn't have been there in the first place if you ask me. They suppose to be free in the wilds, especially the monkeys and all the tiny birds. They don't belong in a small confine cages instead they suppose to be on trees or at a big botanical garden. Khairul has spoken to one of the gardeners and base on the conversation he had with him, the monkeys have been, in the confined small cage, for almost 6 months already. At first, there was only one, but due to the loneliness, they have brought in another one. I know some of the readers might think I am a bit weird or extreme by saying this, but I think they are like small kids in prison, same goes to all the small little birdies. Animals are not 'decoration'.

Last Sunday, three of us went to the beach, just for fun and at the same time I wanted to take some photos of Bee Bee. And since Khairul was following us, I have taken his photos too. The weather was cloudy during that day and breezy. Lots of people there, picnic and having fun. It has been a long time since I last went to the beach. The beach located not far from the city at Tanjung Bunga behind Crown Jewel Hotel. To be honest, the beach is not very clean as people has been throwing rubbish to the sea all these while instead of using dustbin. Anyway, while we were there, we saw 2 or 3 dogs and one of them was very friendly! One was very sleepy :) I think they must came from the cafeteria nearby. We also saw a small puppy and the owner was trying to teach him/her how to swim and not to be afraid of water. I have taken some photos and a short video just to share and give you a short tour regarding our beach here. By the way, that is not the only beach we have, if you look at the map here, we have many since Penang is an island.

Lucky ( injured limping dog) finally got home today after spending so many weeks at the vet. He was very excited to see Chong Kooi. Unfortunately we might have to wait a while until he manage to walk normally again. The vet will take out the plate inside the hind leg end of this month. He told me that after taking out the plate, Lucky may feel more comfy and the joint hopefully will work better. He also said, due to severe damage on the injured leg, the muscles has contracted, so he need more time. That's Chong Kooi and Lucky together in the photo on the right. After this, I will be seeing them in 3 weeks time. I told Chong Kooi not to let Lucky roaming outside and keep him within the compound. I will try to check on Lucky once a week to monitor his condition. Will visit the vet on this coming Monday to pay partially Lucky's medical fee.

Just a quick update on the injured limping doggie. The video were shot on 29 October at the vet. In the video, you can see he is still afraid to use his injured leg. Maybe it is because it's still painful. The plate has not yet taken out and the vet will only do so probably end of this month. I am not sure why it has to be taken out and I will definitely ask the vet tomorrow. Due to the high fee involved and also limited of space for him to run about, the vet have suggested me to take him back. I went to Chong Kooi's house just now; the man who is willing to keep him, and explained to him about the surgery progress. I also showed him some videos of the dog on my laptop too. If you have been following my videos and if you listen carefully on the third video, when the vet was doing the x-ray, he did call the dog Lucky. What a coincidence, Chong Kooi also called him Lucky too! Tomorrow, Chong Kooi will follow along to bring Lucky back and I am sure Lucky misses home! Chong Kooi also contributed RM 100 ( Ringgit Malaysia) just now for Lucky medical fee and this is a surprise to me as he a retiree. At first, I rejected his money but he insisted me to accept it as a token of appreciation.

We are not good in picking names. While spending time looking at some comments on the videos, a reader suggested Spot and Chris suggested Snowflake or Snowy while chatting online . Since the kitty is white like snow, we decided to go for Snowy. The name reminds me of Tin Tin comic, the genius doggie :) Photos and video were taken yesterday while I was at Khairul's place. That's his sister in the picture with Snowy, her name is Zaireen. She take turns to look after the kitties too. Snowy is very playful and make friends very quickly with the rest and no longer spend her days in cage. He is free to roam anywhere in and out the house. When I said 'out the house' I meant within the compound. I was amazed how fast she got so friendly with others, that's wonderful. Mafia ( the black kitty with white socks ) got a friend to play with now and they look like buddies to me, same height and same size.
