This is a discussion and demonstration regarding vocal "support" The sound is a little difficult but you should be able to understand what I'm doing.
This exercise helps build the support by bouncing on the vowel 'ee'. You can also use the vowel. "ah".
This type of exercise helps develop and strengthen the support. Do it on the vowel "ee" as well.
Work on this before you work on the catch breath.
This is a quick demonstration of breathing on the vowel while singing. The catch breath. By breathing on a vowel, you maintain your connection to the support. You will need to work on the hooking the breath exercise as well. Pick any slow phrase froma song you know.
This exercise will help you learn how to breath while maintaining support. It's not how much you breath, it's how you take the breath. This will also help you begin to "place" the voice, increasing your vocal range. As an old italian vice teacher once said, "He who knows how to breath, knows how to sing".
This exercise will help you begin to free the tongue. The tongue will try to help you reach upper notes by pressing down. You need to develop the support so that this doesn't happen. By chewing, while making sound, you can begin to figure out how, by supporting the voice, you can begin to increase your vocal range in both directions.
This is an exeercise all singers should work on. The jaw must be freed or the voice will not be free. A tense jaw closes off the voice.
This will help you begin to understand how a singer breaths into the back.
