RUGBY WORLD CUP http://ruggachick.com/ http://twitter.com/RuggaChick http://www.facebook.com/RuggaChick https://plus.google.com/110779936436192452927/posts The RWC is the 3rd biggest sporting event in the world! With the next one on it's way... I'm so excited, I can't wait! But do you know the history behind the RWC? Let me help you out :) Talks of the 1st RWC started around the 1980's. In 1983 the Australian Rugby Union and the New Zealand Rugby Union both submitted written proposals to stage the tournament. (The funny thing is that they were not aware of each other's proposals and sadly both were turned down) 2 Years later a vote was held in Paris. South Africa who at that time could not compete, due to the sports boycott voted in favor of the tournament and the end result came down to 2 votes to 6. In 1987 it was time to crown the 1st Rugby World Cup Champion!!! Australia and New Zealand had the honor of hosting the tournament and after 32 matches the All Blacks became the 1st ever Rugby World Cup Champions! Since then there have been 5 more RWC tournaments and the 6th one is about to kick off in New Zealand. There you have it, now you know a little bit more about the RWC and how it started out. Be so kind and share your favorite RWC memory, just post a comment below :)

RUGBY TRI-NATIONS 2011: ALL BLACKS vs SOUTH AFRICA http://ruggachick.com/ http://twitter.com/RuggaChick http://www.facebook.com/RuggaChick IN THE HEADLINES: http://www.espnscrum.com/tri-nations-2011/rugby/story/145116.html http://www.stuff.co.nz/5365364/New-All-Blacks-jersey/ MY MATCH REPORT: We into the 2nd week of the Tri-Nations. So after the All Blacks lay down the challenge with that venomous Haka it was game time! The men in Black had no mercy for the Boks, they dominated play had loads of ball in hand and caused major problems for the Boks defensive line. Crockett was the 1st to reach the try-line and all-though Dan the man was off target, the tries were streaming in. John Smith bulldozed his way over, which might secure his captaincy for the next RWC... ESPN slammed this headline... All Blacks sweep Springboks aside. Well the Boks defense looked a bit better than last week and they managed to put a few phases together, but other than that it was the All Blacks game despite a few stupid unforced errors from both sides.

The Wallabies were the 1st to reach the try-line & in a wink they were over again... It took the Boks 29min to get points on the board, but their defensive line was shocking and all those missed tackles led to the Wallabies adding 3 more tries. The Australian ran with this... Wallabies open Tri-Nations in style by Blitzing Boks. Pat Lambie added a bit of spark for the Springboks to finish strong with 2 tries, but honestly they were outplayed.

The Highlanders picked up the 1st try, but the Blues hit back and had the lead at halftime! Sadly the Highlanders season has come to an end, with the Blues winning the game to secure a play-off spot! Honestly this game was boring, for 60 min it was an exchange of penalties with Danny Cipriani and James Stannard doing their thing... A try finally came 62 min into the game...Then all of a sudden more tries followed, but a final penalty from Ripia only but just won it for the Force... The Reds came out strong with the rain poring down... The NZ Herald gave them a thumbs up with this... Reds Outclass Chiefs Well they dominated the breakdown areas had the lead at halftime and Cooper added 6 more points before the Chiefs hit back with a try, unfortunately it was too late...The Canes & Crusaders finally got to battle it out! The Canes had territorial advantage, but with 6 all at halftime the Saders scored the only try in the 2nd half from a counter-attack. The Sydney Morning headlined... Crusaders claim NZ Super Rugby Crown So the Brumbies took a beating and were back to their bad form of rugby when they couldn’t even get a single point on the scoreboard until the final min... The Tahs were fired up when they scored 5 tries, and they not only made the Brumbies look like clowns but they booked themselves a spot in the play-offs! At Loftus things were physical, nerve raking and action packed when the Sharks caught the Bulls on the back-foot. The Sharks came out with a BOOM dominating territory and attacking from all areas, the Bulls managed to stay in touch thanks to Lambie missing kicking opportunities.. Movovo scored a try then Hougaard hit back for the Bulls But the Time was ticking... and this headline says it all... Sharks end Bulls reign and reach the play-offs Yeah time for a new Super Rugby Champion... In Bloemfontein it was another local south african battle with 8 tries spicing up the action... Peter Grant played a big part in the Stormer’s success, all though it was still a job well done by the Cheetahs managing the break the Stormer’s defensive line and Rayno picking up a hat trick Sport 24 Ran with this... Stormers claim home semi-final. So the Reds, the Stormers and the Crusaders have each received a trophy for conference winner’s! The Blues, Tahs, and Sharks complete the top 6 and with that said, the competition has sadly come to an end for everyone else. A late try in the final minutes of the game not only won them the game, but gives them a huge home-advantage throughout the play-offs. The Sharks were outplayed and their defensive line was ripped apart by the strong Lions rolling maul, but things quickly changed when Butch James was sent to the Sin Bin! SUPER-RUGBY 2011 WEEK 14 http://ruggachick.com/ http://twitter.com/RuggaChick http://www.facebook.com/RuggaChick IN THE HEADLINES: http://www.starcanterbury.co.nz/sport/news/crusaders-crush-chiefs/3952797/ http://www.smh.com.au/rugby-union/union-match-report/battered-brumbies-hold-on-against-spent-force-20110521-1exzb.html http://www.timeslive.co.za/sport/rugby/article1081329.ece/The-Bulls-are-feeling-bullish-again MY MATCH REPORT: Round 14‘s actions started off with a huge surprise when the Blues hosted the Stormers in Eden Park. It was definitely a game of 2 half's. The Blues were able to break that strong Stormer’s defensive line, Rattling the Stormer’s tempers, with Louw ending in the Sin Bin! But the Stormers picked themselves up and brought a game..., they managed to keep more ball in hand to snatch the win with a late try from the Captain! Then the Crusaders and the Chiefs have each other a go in Napier. The Chiefs didn’t back down to the Challenge, and Dan Carter was on a Drop Goal mission of his own... The Tahs came out with loads of drive, the poor Lions defensive line was ripped apart, when the Tahs picked up the bonus point try in the 35th min. Don’t know how far the Tahs think they are going to get, with their boring 2nd half style of Rugby...Then the Force and the Brumbies battled it out. Ok so the Brumbies coach might have said that he didn’t think his team would beat the Force, but the part that he left out... was that the game could possibly draw! The Sydney morning ran with this headline: Battered Brumbies hold on against spent Force. The brumbies were 1st to have points on the board, but the Force hit back with loads of ball in hand, but between Giteau and O’Connor the game end up being a draw. But all in all the Cheetahs are breaking records, scoring 5 point victories and crawling their way up the log! The weekends action ended with a huge upset in the Shark tenk, when the Bulls outplayed them. It’s clear that the Bulls mean business and they wasted no time to get points on the board. Well the Bullied the Sharks
