Giga Wing 2 review. *******www.ClassicGameRoom**** Shop CGR shirts, hats, mugs & gear! *******www.CGRstore**** The sequel to Giga Wing brings more absurdly high scores, explosions and bullet hell goodness! Play as one of five pilots and their aircraft as you crush enemies by shooting them with lasers or reflecting their shots back into their faces. Pick "refleco-force" or "reflecto-laser" and annihilate thousands of foes in this amazing arcade-style shooter from Capcom. Gigawing 2 is a vertical scrolling SHMUP (shoot 'em up) on Sega Dreamcast, one of the best bullet hell style SHMUPS out there anywhere!

eXceed - Gun Bullet Children review. *******www.ClassicGameRoom**** Shop CGR shirts & mugs! *******www.CGRstore**** Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of eXceed - Gun Bullet Children for PC developed by Flat Software and published by Capcom. eXceed - Gun Bullet Children crams a hell of a lot of ordnance onto the screen at once. This PC release, the initial offering in what would become a trilogy of bullet-hell vertical-scrolling SHMUPs, blends hardcore shooting action with a character-based storyline, showing the events of a demonic (or, more specifically, vampiric) uprising and the three girls with the firepower and flightpower to put them down. This video review features video gameplay footage of eXceed - Gun Bullet Children for PC and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's TJ.

Last Resort review. *******www.ClassicGameRoom**** Shop CGR shirts & mugs! *******www.CGRstore**** Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Last Resort for Neo-Geo developed and published by SNK. BREAK MY DOLLAR INTO QUARTERS. THIS IS MY LAST RESORT. An SNK Shmup from 1992, designed specifically to make off with your wallet while still making you enjoy the gameplay. Last Resort plays like many side-scrolling Shmups of its day (quite specifically R-Type, with the single-option mechanic) but brings the kind of graphical improvements to the genre that SNK's landmark arcade platform was known for. This video review features video gameplay footage of Last Resort for Neo-Geo and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's TJ.

Summer Carnival '92 Recca review. *******www.ClassicGameRoom**** Shop CGR shirts & mugs! *******www.CGRstore**** Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Summer Carnival '92 Recca for Famicom developed by Kid and published by Naxat Soft. Summer Carnival '92 Recca is one of the rarest Famicom cartridges, due to a low print run, and a release at the very end of the console's lifespan. It's seeing new live, though, on the 3DS Virtual Console, where it makes its way to the rest of the world for the first time, bringing shoot-'em-up gameplay that's faster and more responsive than anything ever released on Nintendo's hallmark system. By meticulously optimizing the software for the Famicom, Kid and Naxat Soft created the most technically-refined shmup possible for that hardware. This video review features video gameplay footage of Summer Carnival '92 Recca for Famicom and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's TJ.

Top Gun: Combat Zones review. *******www.ClassicGameRoom**** Shop CGR shirts & mugs! *******www.CGRstore**** Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Top Gun: Combat Zones for the Game Boy Advance from Mastiff Games. Top Gun: Combat Zones is an action game with several different gameplay styles. The game includes open top-down flight levels, side-scrolling SHMUP levels and even pseudo-3D levels that scroll forward. In every case, however, you're always in the cockpit of a fighter jet. This is Top Gun, after all. Your missions range from blowing up buildings to destroying a certain amount of enemies. It sounds good, but the gameplay does get boring quickly. Particularly the top-down levels, which are slow and tedious. Nonetheless, if you're a Top Gun fan who wants to try a different take on the Combat Zones idea, this GBA version is at least different from the poorly received home console version. This video review features video gameplay footage of Top Gun: Combat Zones for the Game Boy Advance and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.

Mamorukun Curse! review. *******www.ClassicGameRoom**** Shop CGR shirts & mugs! *******www.CGRstore**** Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Mamorukun Curse! for PS3 developed by G-Rev and Gulti and published by UFO. Mamorukun Curse! (yes, one of those games that includes its own punctuation) takes a new spin on the kid-dies-and-obtains-powers-to-save-the-world trope... not by altering the narrative, of course, but by taking the standard crazed bullet-flinging mania typical of modern SHMUPs and putting it on the ground, in a two-stick firing configuration that plays like a hybrid of Geometry Wars and Pocky & Rocky. Only, with konpeito all over the place, potentially grinding your PS3 into a fine powder. This video review features video gameplay footage of Mamorukun Curse! for PS3 and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's TJ.

99Bullets review. *******www.ClassicGameRoom**** Shop CGR shirts & mugs! *******www.CGRstore**** Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of 99Bullets on DSiWare for the Nintendo DSi developed and published by EnjoyUp Games. 99Bullets is a old-school inspired shoot ‘em up released in 2011 for the Nintendo DSi. The game combines the vertical shooting of classic arcade games with the cerebral approach of an action puzzler. The galaxy is being invaded, and it’s up to the vector-based superhero V-99 to save the day. Unfortunately, he only has 99 bullets. Even worse, those bullets also serve as his lives. Taking even a single shot is a real decision, because you’re basically shooting your lives into the air. 99Bullets requires a constant balance between offense and survival, a balance made even more tricky since you have to achieve a certain score to progress. 99Bullets takes the classic SHMUPs of old and gives them a genuinely unique new twist. This video review features video gameplay footage of 99Bullets on DSiWare for the Nintendo DSi and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.

Satazius review. *******www.ClassicGameRoom**** Shop CGR shirts & hats! *******www.CGRstore**** Classic Game Room reviews SATAZIUS from Astro Port and Capcom for the PC released in 2011, an arcade-style SHMUP with space ships blowing up aliens! Satazius is a retro-styled horizontally scrolling space ship shoot 'em up (like Gradius, Thunder Force or Darius) where you earn new weapons in between levels, equip them (like Axelay) and continue blowing up alien spaceships! Upgrade your sub-weapons independently and collect stars for points while dodging enemy fire, asteroids and crazy-ass space worms!! Satazius is available on Steam for PC and packs some good music, predictable game play, Xbox 360 controller support and colorful 2D visuals. It does lack an El Camino though.... :(
