CSR sometimes has the unintended effect of triggering irresponsible behavior. That’s the surprising finding from a recent study by the London Business School and the University of California, Riverside. It reports that after engaging in socially responsible behaviors, some companies are more likely to act unethically in the future, because their corporate leaders feel that they've accumulated "moral credits" by doing good deeds. That’s one of the unexpected conclusions in a special section of articles published in the Winter issue of Personnel Psychology. The online research journal notes that few studies of CSR and sustainability have been done in the fields of human resources and organizational behavior. So its Winter issue presents articles that focus in-depth research on CSR in the HR and OB areas. The reason for such focus is clear. The majority of scholarly research has dealt with the macro level of analysis, addressing regulatory elements such as laws and standards, factors shaped by society, consumers, and stakeholders, and, more recently, the relationship between CSR and financial performance. To achieve a more comprehensive understanding of CSR, researchers are incorporating HR/OB theories and empirical methods, what is called the micro foundations of CSR. Personnel Psychology’s Winter issue brings together research into both micro- and macro-level processes relevant to CSR and its execution. Such increasing attention by academics should yield more, better answers to the important questions being asked about CSR and sustainability. I’m John Howell for 3BL Media. El-Reedy Most project management books focus on the management of building projects, such as housing, administration, and commercial building projects. Likewise, most engineering faculties focus on housing projects in their curricula, while industrial projects are, for the most part, in the oil and gas sector and other process industries. The aim of this book is to focus on the main tools of project management that are essential to industrial projects, focusing on, but not limited by, projects in the oil and gas sector. Published: 2011-05-24 | ISBN: 0470878169 | PDF | 412 pages | 18 MB Before starting a project, one should have a scientific way to expect the problems that he or she will face on the project during implementation and to solve them in a timely manner without affecting cost, time-frame, and quality. Risk assessment, which is discussed in chapter three, is about economic assessment, and this form of risk assessment is essentially qualitative. It is not feasible in the implementation phase. For that phase, a more quantitative risk assessment is appropriate, in order to exectute the project properly. This is discussed in chapter nine. Construction Management for industrial projects - The Definition The definition of a project is a series of activities that have a start and finish time. A project, in general, is unique, and no project is similar to another. This is very important, because one should know that the problem one may face in managing a project may be unique. Also, one should have a creative mind in order to get to the right solution without a reference, so that the professionalism of the project manager depends on his or her previous experience. Construction Management for industrial projects - For Engineers For us as engineers, a feasibility study is a mystery, because we are rarely working in this phase. Chapter three explains our role as engineers in the feasibility study. This chapter presents the main tools of economics to use in deciding whether to proceed with the new project. It also describes the scientific way to choose between the various alternatives. The principal of statistics is described in this chapter, in addition to the theory of probability from a practical point of view, and how we can use these tools to make the right decision. The Monte-Carlo simulation technique is presented, as it is the main tool in a feasibility study for oil and gas projects, which is the main tool that we use in the decision tree method. The decision tree method is very important and easy to use, and anyone who has read about it or attended a course on it is eager to apply it. However, the actual application of this method can be difficult. In this chapter, a practical way of applying the decision tree method in conjunction with the Monte-Carlo simulation is presented. *******bit.ly/constructionManagementIndustrialProjects

Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Reload from Mastiff Games for the Nintendo Wii. Reload is a shooting simulator. You'll play this entire game without shooting a single enemy of any kind. It's basically a glorified game of target practice, and every level presents you with different objectives and targets to annihilate. To the game's credit, Reload is a very smooth shooter. Reload uses the Wii Remote's pointer with pixel-perfect precision, letting you pop off headshots with the kind of ease you could never get from analog sticks. But at the end of the day, this is target practice. This is a game that never goes anywhere. It hinges on the enjoyability of pointing with the Wii Remote and shooting, and although it does that very well, other Wii shooters do it even better...and with enemies, levels and progression. This video review features video gameplay footage of Reload for the Nintendo Wii and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Derek.

Indeed, math is not kind to Darwinism in the least when considering the probability of humans ‘randomly’ evolving: In Barrow and Tippler’s book The Anthropic Cosmological Principle, they list ten steps necessary in the course of human evolut...ion, each of which, is so improbable that if left to happen by chance alone, the sun would have ceased to be a main sequence star and would have incinerated the earth. They estimate that the odds of the evolution (by chance) of the human genome is somewhere between 4 to the negative 180th power, to the 110,000th power, and 4 to the negative 360th power, to the 110,000th power. Therefore, if evolution did occur, it literally would have been a miracle and evidence for the existence of God. William Lane Craig Darwin and the Mathematicians – David Berlinski “The formation within geological time of a human body by the laws of physics (or any other laws of similar nature), starting from a random distribution of elementary particles and the field, is as unlikely as the separation by chance of the atmosphere into its components.” Kurt Gödel, was a preeminent mathematician who is considered one of the greatest to have ever lived. Of Note: Godel was a Theist! *******www.evolutionnews****/2009/11/darwin_and_the_mathematicians027911.html “Darwin’s theory is easily the dumbest idea ever taken seriously by science.” Granville Sewell – Professor Of Mathematics – University Of Texas – El Paso Waiting Longer for Two Mutations – Michael J. Behe Excerpt: Citing malaria literature sources (White 2004) I had noted that the de novo appearance of chloroquine resistance in Plasmodium falciparum was an event of probability of 1 in 10^20. I then wrote that ‘‘for humans to achieve a mutation like this by chance, we would have to wait 100 million times 10 million years’’ (Behe 2007) (because that is the extrapolated time that it would take to produce 10^20 humans). Durrett and Schmidt (2008, p. 1507) retort that my number ‘‘is 5 million times larger than the calculation we have just given’’ using their model (which nonetheless “using their model” gives a prohibitively long waiting time of 216 million years). Their criticism compares apples to oranges. My figure of 10^20 is an empirical statistic from the literature; it is not, as their calculation is, a theoretical estimate from a population genetics model. *******www.discovery****/a/9461 This following calculation by geneticist John Sanford for ‘fixing’ a beneficial mutation, or for creating a new gene, in humans, gives equally absurd numbers that once again render the Darwinian scenario of humans evolving from apes completely false: Dr. Sanford calculates it would take 12 million years to “fix” a single base pair mutation into a population. He further calculates that to create a gene with 1000 base pairs, it would take 12 million x 1000 or 12 billion years. "We found an enormous amount of diversity within and between the African populations, and we found much less diversity in non-African populations," Tishkoff told attendees today (Jan. 22) at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in Anaheim. "Only a small subset of the diversity in Africa is found in Europe and the Middle East, and an even narrower set is found in American Indians." Tishkoff; Andrew Clark, Penn State; Kenneth Kidd, Yale University; Giovanni Destro-Bisol, University "La Sapienza," Rome, and Himla Soodyall and Trefor Jenkins, WITS University, South Africa, looked at three locations on DNA samples from 13 to 18 populations in Africa and 30 to 45 populations in the remainder of the world.- I wonder what Hitler would have thought of that study? Exposed samples and controls displayed similar total and culturable counts, whereas an increased cell viability was observed in exposed samples re-incubated for 24 h outside of the solenoid compared to the corresponding controls. An exposure to 50 Hz EMF of 20-120 min produced a significant change of E. coli morphotype with a presence of coccoid cells also aggregated in clusters after re-incubation of 24 h outside of the solenoid. Atypical lengthened bacterial forms were also observed suggesting a probable alteration during cell division. No changes among DNA fingerprintings and some differences in RNA-AFLP analysis were observed for each 50 Hz EMF intensities evaluated. Our results indicate that an exposure to 50 Hz EMF acts as a stressing factor on bacteria which can represent a suitable model to investigate acute and chronic effects related to ELF-EMF exposure.
