Our heroes continue their quest to defeat Arcadius and survive the Ultimate Challenge. They now must traverse the deadly forest in level 3 as they face deadly slime monsters, cute yet deadly creatures, and an over the top adversary. Will they be able to get through this level, or will Bret's mouth place everyone in danger? Find out in the next installment of Ultimate Challenge! When a hardcore gamer, an idiot, and a frat-boy are plagued by summer release doldrums, an NES classic called “Ultimate Challenge” sucks them into a world where fighting means more than just a high score. Over the course of six episodes these companions brave the perils of slime monsters, oblivious princesses, and bosses who don’t know when to quit. Featuring ButtonMashers stars Sam Sher and Dave Klein with the voice talents of Alex Chod as frat-boy turned animated squid, “Ultimate Challenge” is a side-splitting look at old school gaming- equal parts subversion and nostalgia, UC laughs at classic video game genres as only those who truly love them can.

The animated introductory sequence for Blizzard Buffalo, from the PC version of Mega Man X3. Beautiful, very moving introductory clip to one of my favourite Mavericks. Mysterious, almost. Very atmospheric and inspiring, and great animation. I wish they'd done introductory clips like this in MMX4 too.

Mega Man Powered Up review. Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Mega Man Powered Up (developed and published by Capcom) for Sony PSP. True fact: An ex-girlfriend once prohibited me from talking about this game because she didn't think she could handle the cuteness. (Either that or she had some traumatic experience with Mega Man 1, which is completely understandable. Anyway. Powered Up is a super-chibi reimagination of Mega's first adventure... though the retconning is strong with this one. Somehow there's two new robot masters out of nowhere (DLN-00A and DLN-00B, but I'm not buyin' it), 100 challenge stages, the ability to play AS each Robot Master (presuming you beat them gently), and even a full level editor, complete with internet upload capacity. Man. Remember when Mega Man was a thing? This video review features video gameplay footage of Mega Man Powered Up for PSP and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's TJ.

Mega Man Maverick Hunter X review. Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Mega Man Maverick Hunter X (developed and published by Capcom) for Sony PSP. I realize every remake is remake remake. But when you manage to take one of the greatest SNES games of all time, and somehow adapt it to 3D (in the form of a 2D platformer, we don't want X7 to break out all over again), you've got a winner. And if you can jam in another character who plays completely differently, just to shake up the gameplay a bit, so much the better. Behold the other half of the 2006 Mega Man revival effort, AKA Capcom's realization that genuinely good games sometimes don't sell. Didn't stop them from spreading Okami all over the place. This video review features video gameplay footage of Mega Man Maverick Hunter X for PSP and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's TJ.
