This machine is called a Nickelodeon, it was used as a jukebox from 1890 to around 1930 in pool halls and brothels around the world. All the music is read by a paper role -like a pianola. All the instruments function inside this machine. Dig that percussion section! I saw it in Daylesford, Victoria -sorry the quality isn't very good.

Gang Bullets is a gritty criminal drama, packed with secretive crime bosses, guns, corruption, and deception. Accurately echoing public concerns on organized crime and corrupt cops in the 1930s, Gang Bullets is a veritable time capsule for the anxieties of the period. Untouchable mob boss Big Bill Anderson (Morgan Wallace) sets up shop in the city and immediately buys up all the rackets – and all the police. The frustrated and seemingly impotent District Attorney Wayne (Charles Trowbridge) concludes that the only way to bring Big Bill down is with clever subterfuge: setting him up with the help of undercover work. Employing the straightforward acting style that characterizes 1930’s cinema, Gang Bullets relies on realism and abrasive settings to magnificently relate the danger and drama of such a fascinating period in American history.

A stirring blend of vintage boxing, crime, and drama, Crime Patrol is a hard hitting 1930’s film. Starring the go-getting Ray Walker, the film begins on the wrong side of the tracks with Walker as a street level pugilist who does favors for gangsters. But as the payoffs and boxing matches get too hectic, Walker gets pushed towards decisions about his loyalties. Go straight, or stay cool? The film is briskly paced; and the more sinister elements of the story stand out as much harder than the usual 1930’s fare. All in all, Crime Patrol is a knockout movie filled with high, lows, loves, and villains.

This number often referred to as "The Mechanical Ballet" appeared in Lilies of the Field in 1930. It was recycled in 1933 in the Joe E. Brown movie "The Tenderfoot", as a cost cutting way to add a big budget number to a low budget 1932 comedy. Scenes of Joe E. Brown were shot and edited into it, replacing the stunning images of Corrine Griffith high atop a giant motor car as its "flying goddess" radiator cap ornament! Lilies Of The Field is a lost movie.
