Classic Game Room reviews KrissX for Xbox 360 from Konami. This download word puzzle game for Xbox 360 features Wordsworth the owl and loads of word scramble (unscramble) puzzles. Fans of crossword puzzles and word games should dig this light, catchy game where players make words out of jumbled words and score points. Rack up a high multiplyer and play timed and untimed matches, download new games and make the owl cry (I made that up). Kriss X can be downloaded from Xbox Live for Xbox 360. This CGR review of KrissX has gameplay from Kriss X on Xbox 360 XBLA showing game play during this word puzzle game in action.
Classic Game Room reviews GRAVE BREAKER for Xbox 360, a download game from the Xbox 360 Indie games section of Xbox Live. This is a side scrolling survival style game where one or two players shoots endless waves of monsters and zombies. Use miniguns, pistols, shotguns and sniper rifles to waste enemies and score points based on what weapon you use. Available for less than the price of a cup of coffee, Grave Breaker is the sequel to Veks and Silence, also on Xbox Live in the Indie section. It feels like an add-on to Veks and Silence but it is a stand alone game and worth a buck if you enjoy 2 player survival gaming with a friend. This CGR review of Grave Breaker has gameplay from Grave Breaker on Xbox Live and shows Grave Breaker game play in HD. Horror survival fans may want to give this one spin!
Classic Game Room reviews CSI: DEADLY INTENT for Xbox 360. Also available for PC, Wii and Nintendo DS. CGR prefers the Nintendo DS version to the Xbox 360 version, but this may still be worth a rent or budget purchase for Xbox 360 owners who are fans of CSI and mystery "whodunnit" crime solving games. Search crime scenes for clues, assemble evidence, get arrest warrants and interrogate subjects. The game is terrible in HD and has terribly cheesy visuals and sub-par acting but does have some interesting crims solving segments. It's a better game on Nintendo DS but still playable on 360. This CGR review has gameplay from CSI Deadly Intent on Xbox 360 showing game play in action in this police detective drama video game based on the CSI television show.
Classic Game Room reviews PINBALL FX for Xbox 360 from Zen Studios. Nearly identical to Zen Pinball on PS3, Pinball FX has the same high quality with different tables. Enjoy Extreme, Agents, Speedway and Buccaneer on your Xbox 360 with HD visuals and awesome gameplay. This CGR review of Pinball FX has gameplay from the Xbox 360 pinball video game, Pinball FX, showing game play in video action. Pinball FX can be download from Xbox Live XBLA and costs a few bucks. Earn Pinball FX achievement points and buy new tables.
Classic Game Room HD reviews INFERNO POOL for Xbox 360 XBLA, available for download from Xbox Live Arcade. This is an arcade style pool game which has standard 9-ball and 8-ball pool modes with invisible people. The highlight of the game is the "Inferno" endurance mode where you must survive as long as possible while the pool table fills up with pool balls! This CGR review of Inferno Pool has gameplay from Inferno Pool on XBLA for Xbox 360. Game features achievement points in Inferno Pool.
Classic Game Room HD reviews TANK-TASTIC! for Xbox 360, available for download in the indie games section of Xbox Live. Tank Tastic is a Robotron-style game that uses twin stick style controls for tank mayhem. CGR doesn't care for the graph paper "look how indie it is" look to the game, but the gameplay itself is fantastic. Your tank cannot fire very quickly, and if you hold down the shoot button it fires in three shot bursts that take an eternity to reload. Therefore you spend more time in Tank-Tastic dodging enemy fire and aiming rather than just gunning away. Four player local multiplayer makes Tank-Tastic a fantastic party game with addictive gameplay and solid controls. There are challenge levels (many of which are damned hard) and some game play variations as well. Tank-Tastic is a good example of a game in the indie marketplace that could easily fit into the more mainstream crowd with a simple, time tested style of gameplay mixed with some clever, unique elements of its own. Those who enjoy Geometry Wars, Robotron 2084 of Burn, Zombie Burn should give Tank-Tastic a look. This CGR review of Tank-Tastic on Xbox 360 has gameplay from Tank Tastic showing Tank-Tastic! game play in HD action. It's a twin stick video game shooter with tanks!
Classic Game Room reviews Veks and Silence for Xbox 360, available for download from XBLA in the Xbox Live Marketplace under the "indie" games section. Indie!! Oh I love that marketing term, this game is so indie it makes me want to smoke and hang out in expensive, corporate franchise coffee shops. You can fight the man by giving indie companies like Microsoft money to play this game because it's available on their download service. Well, indie or non-indie, Veks and Silence is an over the top, explosive 2D style platformer where you play as a violent anti-hero named Veks who spends his days slaughtering waves of mindless zombies and other enemies. Veks has four weapons to choose from can also power up a Rage meter for temporary invincibility and super-power. This CGR review of Veks and Silence has gameplay from Veks and Silence on XBLA Xbox 360 showing game play from veks and Silence, a 2-D style side scroller with lots of guns and violence. The game is a bit jerky in places, more than it needs to be. But the affordable cost of the game, awesome music and playable controls make it worth a look for side scrolling platformer fans looking for a run and gun shooter.
Classic Game Room reviews RAIDEN IV for Xbox 360! One of the greatest SHMUPS ever made has landed on your non-Japanese region blocked game console, hooray for Raiden! SHMUP goodness in full high definition, Raiden IV is smooth, explosive and hard as nails. Dodge more bullets than you can shake an copy of Raiden III at, Raiden IV is not for scaredy-cats who can't take the heat of the virtual 2D battlefield that doesn't really exist yet it's still hot anyway. This CGR review of Raiden IV has gameplay from Raiden 4 on Xbox 360 showing the game play in this vertical scrolling 2-D shooter SHMUP for Xbox 360. CGR is playing on an American Xb0x 360 where you can earn Raiden IV achievement points and compete on an awesome global leaderboard full of people who are waaaay better than you. Holy Raiden Raiden, this is almost becoming an exciting time for Japanese space ship shooter fans with new releases of Raiden 4, Raiden Fighters Aces and R-Type Dimensions (and that one I can't spell on PS3). Is the era of non-stop 2D shooters coming back?? Probably not, but as long as we get some of them we're happy. Raiden IV will appeal to fans of Giga Wing, MUSHA, Thunder Force, Gradius, Galactic Attack, Ikaruga, Radiant Silvergun and Mars Matrix. With numerous difficulty settings. leader boards, amazing visuals, awesome music and def gameplay, Raiden 4 is out of this world!
Classic Game Room HD reviews PERFECT DARK ZERO for Xbox 360 from 2005, an early release for the 360 and a memorable first person shooter from Rare. This CGRHD review of Perfect Dark Zero has gameplay footage from Perfect Dark Zero showing game play during this FPS featuring Joanna Dark in a prequel to the Perfect Dark storyline on N64. Use a clever variety of weapons in creative levels that keep the game fresh and interesting from beginning to end. Perfect Dark Zero can be bought today for a song and while it seems slow compared to some more popular shooters these days. The game itself remains technically solid, smooth and sounds awesome. The storyline is sub-par but the replay value due to the amazing level design is high, and that's what really stands out with this game. Awesome levels, techo style music and lots of cool futuristic weaponry make this an easy game to drop $5 on and add to your collection.
Classic Game Room HD reviews G.I. JOE: THE RISE OF COBRA for Xbox 360, also on Playstation 3 PS3, Nintendo Wii, PSP and Nintendo DS. GI Joe The Rise of Cobra the video game is based on the G.I.Joe series and movie and features 16 playable characters (12 Joes and 4 Cobras). This CGRHD review of GI JOE The Rise of Cobra on Xbox 360 has gameplay footage from G.I. Joe The Rise of Cobra showing HD game play from the 360 version, which is no doubt identical to the PS3 version of GI Joe the video game. 20 levels, 4 environments and lots of explosions, G. I. Joe is like a cross between a 3rd person shooter and top down shooter like Assault Heroes or Ikari Warriors. Each character has a different weapon and different special attacks. Play co-op with a friend and take on the enemy together on screen at the same time. GI Joe the Rise of Cobra has achievement points that can be unlocked as you play the game, win achievements for capturing Baroness and winning levels, etc... unlock new joes with points and crush B.A.T. troopers and HISS tanks. Fans of the old school G.I. Joe cartoon series and GI Joe action figures and comic books should enjoy the game because it has a cheesy, old school quality to it. The plot of the game takes place after the events in the movie, but that doesn't really matter. If it moves and shouts "Cobraaaa!" you shoot it. GI Joe characters featured in this review, Snake Eyes, Storm Shadow, Baroness, Scarlett, Heavy Duty, Gung Ho, Ripcord, Backblast, Shipwreck and Duke. Classic Game Room HD reviews G.I. Joe The Rise of Cobra the video game and shows GI Joe gameplay footage in high definition from Xbox 360 to show how the game is played, what it looks like and whether or not you may enjoy it. Some GI Joe PSA commercials can be unlocked during gameplay.
Classic Game Room HD reviews HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE for Xbox 360. This game is also available on Playstation 3 PS3 and Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince can be played on Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, Sony PSP and Playstation 2 (but no Vectrex!??). Play as Harry Potter and a few other characters as Voldemort tightens his grip on both the Muggle and wizarding worlds. Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven that it once was and Harry suspects that evil may exist within the castle. Dumbledore prepares Harry for the final battle which approaches, as Harry requests help from Professor Slughorn who holds memories in his head which could help. The teens run wild with hormones raging, fueled by magic and love potions.... how will it all end?? Collect crests hidden throughout the castle and mini-crests lurking within lights. Battle enemies, friends and mix potions illegal in 49 states. Harry Potter keeps it real for his 6th year... shouldn't he be graduating soon? This CGRHD review of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has gameplay footage showing game play in Harry Potter the video game, Half Blood Prince on Xbox 360.
Classic Game Room HD reviews RED FACTION GUERRILLA from THQ and Volition. This is the 3rd Red Faction game but is it the best? The series returns after nearly a decade and takes place decades after the first game. No longer straight forward first person shooter, this new Red Faction allows the player to run around a huge environment on Mars and destroy practically everything in sight for salvage to help them free mars from the EDF. This CGRHD review of Red Faction Guerilla (not Red Faction Gorilla or Red Faction Gurilla) has gameplay from Red Faction on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 (this is the Xbox 360 version, not PS3 version of Red Faction). It has a large storyline and many, many missions and guerilla actions to play out. Destroy things with a variety of cool weapons that can be upgraded along the way. Drive vehicles and wipe the Martian floor with EDF soldiers after smashing them with a huge sledgehammer. While CGR still prefers the original masterpiece, this new Red Faction is a lot of fun thanks to solid programming and GEO MOD 2.0. Yes, Geo Mod has stolen the show and is the engine of destructive mayhem within Red Faction Guerilla. Blast buildings, explode trucks and bring down structures with explody goodness and flying shards of metal. Red Faction delivers Geo Mod 2 and makes CGR want Geo Mod 3 soon! The 360 version has achievement points for Red Faction Guerilla and the PS3 version has Playstation trophies. Coming soon to PC, no word on the Vectrex version yet though.
Classic Game Room HD reviews TRANSFORMERS THE REVENGE OF THE FALLEN for Xbox 360, aka Transformers 2 review for Xbox 360. This is the same version that appears on PS3 / Playstation 3 also called Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. This CGRHD review of TRANSFORMERS 2 has gameplay footage from Xbox 360 in HD showing game play in Transformers Revenge of the Fallen. Published by Activision, there are numerous versions of this game available. This version, the 360 and PS3 version. Also the different Wii version, two different flavors (Autobot and Decepticon) available for Nintendo DS and a PSP variant of the game. Here on Xbox 360 the gameplay is fast and fun, you get to collect and play as numerous Transformers!!! Mighty robots, mighty machines.... or was that Go Bots...? More than meets the eye!! The missions are broken into little chunks of explosions as you complete things in a race against the clock. Blow that up, shoot that thing, capture humans, etc... Play as Megatron, Optimus Prime, Starscream, Sideways or the lame-ass , goody-two shoes Autobots. Transformers 2 for Xbox 360 has XBLA support for multiplayer and leaderboards, it also has a free roam mode that you can unlock and roam around freely shooting tanker trucks. Fun, explosion packed and very well made, young and old fans of the series will find something to like in Transformers Revenge of the Fallen for Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Watch the Classic Game Room reviews of Transformers 2 for Wii and Nintendo DS as well. The Xblx 360 version has loads of achievement points to earn through the game.
Classic Game Room reviews STAR TREK DAC for XBLA Xbox 360 Live Arcade. This Star Trek DAC video game review has gameplay from Star Trek DAC in HD from XBLA. Released to coincide with the new Universal Pictures movie, Star Trek, this game has surprisingly little to do with Star Trek. It is an excellent arcade style multiplayer shooter game like Asteroids meets deathmatch though. Take command of any of three Federation (or Romulan) vessels like the flagship, bomber and fighter then duke it out in DAC (deathmatch, assault and conquest). Play over XBLA Xbox Live Arcade or fight in a single player mode by yourself against computer AI. Star Trek D.A.C. is simple, straight forward, addictive and fun. It lacks the depth of the Star Trek universe but excels at that simple, clever game play that many other Star Trek video games lacked in years past. Star Trek DAC is a worthy purchase for fans of arcade style space ship shooters with a multiplayer, deathmatch, assault and conquest twist. Classic Game Room reviews Star Trek video games as a Trekkie reviewing games reviewer previously by Trekkers like Star Trek! KAHN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
