An annular eclipse occurs when the Sun and Moon are exactly in line, but the apparent size of the Moon is smaller than that of the Sun. Hence the Sun appears as a very bright ring, or annulus, surrounding the outline of the Moon. Planetary Society, India in association Andhra Pradesh State Council of Science and Technology & Dr.K.V.Rao Scientific Society with a motive to create awareness among school students has undertaken activities. Activities like Space Simulator (Students created simulations of solar eclipse as seen from 50 different countries), Media Discussions on the subject and others are already planned. The most favourite Andhra ( Telugu) Breakfast. Makes any Andhraite drool at its very sight. Pesara pappu means Moong Dal and Attu means a type of dosai. So together Pesarattu would mean "Moong dal dosa". The video describes 2 pesarattus not very different from each other. Upma is the best accompaniment for the pesarattu as it complements the crunchy taste and gingerly flavour. So the first recipe in the video describes the method of making upma pesarattu. The second pesarattu is known to all in Andhra as MLA pesarattu, the king of the Andhra Breakfast table. There is an interesting anecdote behind this very amusing name. The second pesarattu in our video looks like a normal pesarattu from the outside but has Upma, Cashewnuts and dry fruits hidden inside. This Pesarattu became a symbol for the hypocrisy of the ruling elite and hence has been named very aptly as MLA (Members of the Legislative Assembly) pesarattu. Ginger is used extensively in this recipe as it is a natural digestive agent and it neutralises moong dal (pesara pappu) which is normally difficult to digest. Happy cooking and do ensure that you make crispy pesarattus whenever you have telugu guests at home for highly satisfactory results. Do send ur feedback to edewcategmail****

India has a very rich tradition of classical and non-classical dance. The Natya Shastra, which is the oldest surviving text on stagecraft in the world, spends a considerable time discussing it. In the old days of the theatre, the dancers would mime the story while the singers would sing the dialogue. The instrumentalists would accompany them all. The nature of the old theatre was such that the dancers occupied a central position. For many centuries the dancers were attached to the temples. This maintained a strong religious flavour to dance. Even today many of the traditional themes are mythological in nature. Over the centuries different areas have given their own colour to the ancient classical tradition. Today the acknowledged classical styles are Dance form States of origin— Bharata Natyam- Tamil Nadu , Kathak -Uttarpradesh, Kathakali -Kerala , Kuchipudi -Andhra Pradesh, Manipuri -Manipur, Mohiniyattam -Kerala , Odissi Orissa , Sattriya- Assam, Garba -Gujarath, Dandiya Raas -Gujarath, Lavni- Maharashtra, Koli -Maharashtra, Bhangda -Punjab, Ghoomar -Rajasthan, Kathputli -Rajasthan, Kunitha- Karnataka , Khaullam- Mizoram, Phag -Haryana, Chhou- West Bengal. Indian classical dance is a relatively new umbrella term for various codified art forms rooted in Natya, the sacred Hindu musical theatre styles, whose theory can be traced back to the Natya Shastra of Bharata Muni (400 BC). India has thousands of year old tradition of fine arts and classical and folk music and dances. Some of the world-famous dance forms that originated and evolved in India are Bharatnatyam, Kathak, Kathakali, Kuchipudi, Manipuri, Mohiniattam and Odissi. All these dance forms use basically the same 'mudras' or signs of hand as a common language of expression and were originally performed in the temples to entertain various Gods and Goddesses. They were also effective in carrying forward the various mythological stories from generation to generation while entertaining the audiences. It eventually became a part of 'Natya Shashtra', as propounded by Sage Bharata to compile and forge some rules and regulations of entertaining arts. With time, the classical dances evolved to include the expressions and themes from social life and experiences. Lord Shiva is said to be the 'Nataraja' meaning 'King of All Dances', who is said to perform the Cosmic Dance that delicately balances life and death and all that is happening in the Universe in harmonious cycles. Bharatnatyam, popular in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, is said to be revealed by Lord Brahma to Bharata. Kathak is the art to tell a story and is a form of North Indian classical dance. Later, it became courtly entertainment. Kathakali from Kerala makes use of colorful masks and costumes and belongs to Kerala. Kuchipudi is the dance drama of Andhra Pradesh that combines Natya, Nritta and Nritya. Manipuri, as the name suggests, is from Manipur, the Northeastern state of India, and is a combination of many dances prevalent in the region. Mohiniattam from Kerala is a solo female dance and is known for its rhythmic and unbroken flow of the body movements. Odissi from Orissa is a dance of love, joy and intense passion. Mangalgiri means an auspicious hill, which is situated in the outskirts ofVijayawada, a well known city in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The looms used in Mangalgiri are mostly pit looms. Pit looms are looms which are fixed in the ground level and there will be a pit in which looms peddle will be placed and the weaver will sit on the floor and use his hands and legs to weave. The weavers demand that only if there is some kind of package at par with the farmers who have lost crops, which was offered by the government, then only handloom industry can survive. The weavers state that only if government also takes the responsibility to support the handloom industry, then only the industry will last or else the end of handloom industry is not far from near. The high cost of handloom fabrics is also limiting the marketability. The handloom industry is searching for a break through for survival.
