Psoriasis symptoms differ from person to person and depend on the type of psoriasis. Areas of psoriasis can be as small as a few flakes on the scalp or elbow, or cover the majority of the body. Psoriasis signs and symptoms are different for everyone. Common signs and symptoms include: Red patches of skin covered with thick, silvery scales Small scaling spots (commonly seen in children) Dry, cracked skin that may bleed Itching, burning or soreness Thickened, pitted or ridged nails Swollen and stiff joints Psoriasis patches can range from a few spots of dandruff-like scaling to major eruptions that cover large areas. Most types of psoriasis go through cycles, flaring for a few weeks or months, then subsiding for a time or even going into complete remission. There are several types of psoriasis. These include: Plaque psoriasis. The most common form, plaque psoriasis causes dry, raised, red skin lesions (plaques) covered with silvery scales. The plaques might be itchy or painful and there may be few or many. They can occur anywhere on your body, including your genitals and the soft tissue inside your mouth. Nail psoriasis. Psoriasis can affect fingernails and toenails, causing pitting, abnormal nail growth and discoloration. Psoriatic nails might loosen and separate from the nail bed (onycholysis). Severe cases may cause the nail to crumble. Guttate psoriasis. This type primarily affects young adults and children. It's usually triggered by a bacterial infection such as strep throat. It's marked by small, water-drop-shaped, scaling lesions on your trunk, arms, legs and scalp. The lesions are covered by a fine scale and aren't as thick as typical plaques are. You may have a single outbreak that goes away on its own, or you may have repeated episodes. Inverse psoriasis. This mainly affects the skin in the armpits, in the groin, under the breasts and around the genitals.

How To Cure Knee Joint Pain Naturally - How To Cure Knee Pain In Old Age Creaking knees, hips, and ankles aren't necessarily normal aches and pains that come with age. Your pain might be arthritis. Luckily, medicine has a lot to offer from exercise and alternative supplements to medications and joint replacement. In recent years, several studies have shown that glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate can help relieve pain from osteoarthritis. In addition, research has shown that these supplements, particularly glucosamine, can slow, or even stop, progression of osteoarthritis. Most research has been done on knee osteoarthritis, but experts suspect that other joints would benefit as well. Derived from crustacean shells, glucosamine supplements are thought to replace missing fluid and promote the growth of cartilage, thereby helping to repair joints, Weiss says. Chondroitin sulfate, often taken in conjunction with glucosamine, may help cartilage from breaking down. Both supplements are safe and effective but are slow-acting, requiring several weeks to months of treatment to get relief.

How to Exercise Safely After Angioplasty|coronary artery stent surgery When plaque begins to block blood flow to your heart, you have an increased risk for chest pain, heart attacks and other cardiac events. An angioplasty can help improve the blood flow to the heart. After this procedure, it's essential to begin a heart-healthy lifestyle. Exercising after this procedure is generally an important part of your long-term recovery.[1] Be safe and smart when it comes to the type, amount, and intensity of the exercise you choose. That way, you can allow your body to heal and work to prevent further cardiac issues. 1 Start with a warm-up and end with a cool-down. One essential type and part of your exercise routine is your warm-up and your cool-down. Include both after you've had an angioplasty. Even though a warm-up and a cool-down aren't a specific type of exercise, they are a specific component to safe exercise after any type of cardiac procedure.[11] A warm-up should be about five to 10 minutes long. Choose a very low intensity, low impact exercise that is a slowed-down version of the exercise you will be doing. For example, a slow walk on the treadmill before jogging. The goal of the warm-up is to help your heart rate slowly increase and to get your muscles warm and loose and take them through their full range of motion. A cool-down is very similar to a warm-up. It should also be about five to 10 minutes in length and be a low intensity, slower paced exercise. Again, walking would work. The cool down allows your heart rate and blood pressure return to more normal levels without a quick drop in your activity. 2 Incorporate a 30 minute walk most days. One very safe and frequently recommended exercise is a 30 minute walk. This is a great exercise for most angioplasty patients to start with. Studies have shown that one of the best exercises to start with is walking. Aim for a 30 minute walk most days of the week.[12] If you currently cannot walk for 30 minutes, this

How to Prevent Cervical Cancer|best foods to eat to prevent cervical cancer All women are at risk for cervical cancer; however, with regular screening tests and follow-up, cervical cancer is the easiest female cancer to prevent. It is also highly curable when detected and treated early. 1 Get regular screenings. Cervical cancer starts with the presence of HPV (human papillomavirus), which is the most common sexually transmitted infection.[1] Virtually everyone has HPV at least once in their life, if not more; however, the infection most often shows no symptoms so most people are unaware of having it. HPV, over time, can lead to precancerous chances in the sensitive cells around the cervix. This eventually poses the risk of developing into cervical cancer. Most people are able to clear the infection, which eliminates the risk of cervical cancer; however, if you aren't able to clear the infection then you are at risk for cervical cancer. By getting regular screenings, you can catch any suspicious cells early and have them treated.

How to Help Prevent Ovarian Cancer|birth control ovarian cancer Women with intact reproductive organs have two ovaries, and cancer that starts in either ovary is called ovarian cancer. While risk remains low, all women who have ovaries also have some risk for ovarian cancer, which accounts for about 3% of cancers in women.[1] There is no way to guarantee you will not get ovarian cancer, but there are ways to help prevent it. 1 Reduce your risk with your reproductive choices. Although scientists aren't sure why, you can reduce your risk for ovarian cancer by making certain choices about having children and controlling your fertility. You can reduce your risk for ovarian cancer by having at least one baby. Studies show that the more pregnancies you have, the more you can reduce your risk.[2] You can also reduce your risk by using birth control pills (containing both estrogen and progesterone) for at least five years.[3] A history of breast feeding or hysterectomy may also reduce the risk of ovarian cancer in women.
