No Blinking: Jessica Alba is in Staring Contest with 824 IBeatYou Users
At the two-month-old start-up IBeatYou, "celebrities and average consumers alike" can "roll up their sleeves, get dirty, and have fun competing," cofounder Cash Warren says.
Users challenge each other to contests, from "Best 60 second rant" to "Best 'While You Were Sleeping' Photo," and vote for the winner based on the video, photo and text submissions.
Cofounders and competitive childhood friends Abdul Khan, NBA star Baron Davis, and Cash Warren have harnessed the star power of Steve Nash, Will Farrel, Adam Sandler, and Warren's wife Jessica Alba to draw users to the site. I posted Jessica Alba's staring contest entry below.
Liz Gannes at NewTeeVee pointed out that Paparazzi-harassed celebrities could use the site to exert control over their public images--just as politicians do on YouTube. But for the site to succeed, people need to come for more than celebrity sitings, Khan tells her.
Earlier this month another contest platform, Amuso, opened to the public, providing IBeatYou some fresh competition.
Andy interviewed Khan, Davis and Warren at the AlwaysOn conference at Stanford last week.

Andrew Baron, founder of the pioneering webisode Rocketboom came by the Beet.TV studios earlier today for a debrief about the just announced syndication deal with Sony and its implications for his company.
Andrew told me that the guaranteed revenue from syndication will provide the resources to increase production by as much as double. He doesn't plan new shows, only an expansion of Rocketboom which has five episodes a week.
He said the distribution deal will get Rockeboom viewers on a number of media platforms including the Playstation, mobile devices and on television.
Moreover, for Andrew and his crew, the deal with Sony establishes the viability of the business of Rocketboom and provides value for potential investors. No question, he is now in a stronger position to raise money.
In this clip, he speaks about the challenges in making a profitable Web video business. He says that starting the show when he did, he was early.
Ever the optimist, he says that the fledgling business of Web video production will become real businesses in 12 month. Amen!

My Daily Blog is at: *******investorandtrader.blogspot****/
Those who follow my blog here understand that I despise the unethical immoral implications and precepts behind communism. But at times the question arises ... how much money ... is too much money? When should a wealthy persons income be examined by the public at large? I would state that it is when a person becomes what some are calling, the new "Robber Baron".
Although the term 'Robber Baron' has an extensive etymology? The vulgate meaning of this term is a wealthy person who engages in unfair business practices, typically at the expense of the economy of which he is a participant. And yes, we have 'Robber Barons' amongst us today ...
NOTE: This is not an investment or trading recommendation. The losses in trading can be very real, and depending on the investment vehicle, can exceed your initial investment. I am not a licensed trading or investment adviser, or financial planner. But I do have 12 years of experience in trading and investing in these markets. The Challenge accounts are run for the education of other traders who should make their own decisions based off their own research and risk tolerance. Included Music is by Paul Young.
