Inventing the drums for the Ged song was quite a long process. Drum parts are like the song itself - aggressive, but also rich and colorful. The drum from the chorus does not seem at first glance difficult, but it is. Idea of double bass rhytmic solution I took from my drum lesson “Double Bass Drumming Exercises”. Drums in guitar solo are very unusual, because it contains irregularity and is mainly based only on the snare, toms and double bass. This chaotic pounding is supposed to be a reflection of the fight that Ged had with his alter ego. Ged drum playthrough comes from Plethora's album "Age of Changes" (2017) If you find my videos or lessons valuable to you - please share it or support me by donation. At first I wanted to write more about the Triptych of A Wizard of Earthsea. The construction of the Triptych about Ged is... a sinusoid. The Sparrowhawk opening theme is also in the middle of The Shadow and at the end of the Ged song. The Sparrowhawk is at 200 bpm, The Shadow at 180 bpm, and Ged - again at 200 bpm. In addition, The Shadow has two quiet guitar motives - at the begining there is a guitar solo called Roke and at the end - guitar theme called Gebbeth. The Shadow drum part was a challenge for me - guitar riffs during the stanza require a boost by bass drum, but I did not want to end up with such an obvious solution. That's why I came up with the idea of joining strikes on the floor tom. This makes the whole sound more powerful. When it comes to the chorus of the song - I was trying to make it light and I wanted to emphasize the rhythm of the melodic guitar. The solo underlay has a rocky, growing character. In the third verse, I decided to use crash to my cymbals and stop them exactly with the guitar riffs rhytm. It gives interesting sound. I hope you like these solutions and thanks to them the whole song has become more interesting. The Shadow drum playthrough comes from Plethora's album "Age of Changes" (2017) If you find my videos or lessons valuable to you - please share it or support me by donation. There are metal songs which are very intuitive for drummer. This is the case here. :) Battlefield guitar riffs had to be doubled by double bass drum and arabic vocal in chorus... Do you imagine it without toms? Because I don't. :) I tried to add a lot of dynamics to the whole rhythm, so that the emotions and feelings of the listener would become stronger. Double Bass Drumming Exercises by Gawron Drum lesson #2 Ternary Thanks everyone for watching my drum lesson. I believe that it will help many of you in developing your double bass drumming. Below you'll find the link to the score containing the exercises which I'm presenting in this lesson. Start practicing at slow speeds and gradually raise the tempo when you feel you've mastered the pattern at any given speed. You can also do the exercises without a drum set (e.g., on the bus or during breaks at school or work). I guarantee you that by learning these exercises you'll build up your creative drumming. If you want to extend the challenge even further - start each exercise with your left foot instead of your right. I'd like to give a warm thank you to my friends Franciszek Banet and Mariusz Mazurek for their invaluable help and all the work they've done during the production of this lesson. Thanks guys! Me playing the organ at the Royalty Cinema in Bowness-on-Windermere in the beautiful Lake District. The organ is a 2 manual 7 rank instrument and was opus 1719 built in 1927 for the Almira Theatre in Cleveland, Ohio. After the introduction of the 'talkies' not long after, the organ was shipped over to England and installed at the Rex Cinema in the London suburb of Stratford. It remained here until the 1970s but fortunately was stored by an enthusiast after removal. In 2010, the organ was purchased by the Furness Theatre Organ Project who installed it here at the Royalty after giving it an excellent restoration. The console is on a platform to the left of the screen where in the future it is hoped to install a lift so that the console can 'rise' in true cinema organ fashion! The two chambers are installed under the stage and speak through grilles below the screen. The layout is as follows: MAIN CHAMBER (facing screen - left) Diaphonic Diapason Concert Flute Violin Violin Celeste Chrysoglott/Vibraphone SOLO CHAMBER (facing screen - right) Tibia Clausa Trumpet Vox Humana Glockenspiel Xylophone Cathedral Chimes Snare Drum, Cymbal, Tambourine, Chinese Block, Castanets, Tom Tom, Sleigh Bells, Bird Whisle, Horse Hoofs, Surf, Fire Gong, Motor Horn, Syren, Steamboat Whistle UNENCLOSED Bass Drum Crash Cymbal For this first video I am playing 'Hello Dolly' from the 1964 musical of the same name. Afterwards, we take a look inside the two chambers to see the workings of the organ in action! As you will hear, I am in no way a professional when it comes to playing a cinema organ and am much more used to playing the church organ! My thanks to everyone at Furness Theatre Organ Project for making me so welcome and for doing such a first class job on restoring and installing this Wurlitzer organ. It would be easy to assume that the organ had always been here such is the high quality of this installation. It is also good to see a theatre organ that has been kept in original condition and not enlarged, revoiced and original character removed etc.

Me playing the famous organ installed at the world famous Tower Ballroom in Blackpool. The organ was built and installed in 1935 by the famous Wurlitzer company where it replaced a smaller instrument. When Reginald Dixon became organist in 1930, he felt that the original organ lacked power and so designed the instrument we have today. The organ is almost original in specification with a few exceptions. In 1948, the Tuba Mirabilis rank was added and in 1951 the Vox Humana rank was replaced by the present Solo String. In 1956, the console was badly damaged during a fire so was rebuilt using parts from another Wurlitzer instrument originally from the Gaumont in Holloway, London. In the 1990s the original Bechstein grand piano attachment was replaced with an electronic midi module although the original piano is still in situ. The organ is contained in 3 chambers above the proscenium to the following layout: MAIN Diaphonic Diapason Violin Violin Celeste Tibia Clausa 1 Concert Flute Harmonic Tuba Tuba Mirabilis Solo String SOLO Tibia Clausa 2 English Horn Kinura Krumet Orchestral Oboe Saxophone Glockenspiel Cathedral Chimes Sleigh Bells Bass Drum, Snare Drum, Tambourine, Castanets, Chinese Block, Tom Tom, Triangle, Tap Cymbal, Bird Whistle, Fire Bell, Surf, Horses Hooves, Auto Horn, Train Whistle UNENCLOSED Xylophone Chrysoglott/Vibraphone Crash Cymbal Piano (electronic midi unit) The video starts with some views of this famous seaside resort which im sure will be instantly recognisable. Rather than 'rise out the stage' to 'Beside the seaside', I decide to do something complete different and so played a few bars from the famous 'Toccata and Fugue in D minor' by Bach. Then I play 'Chim Chim Cher-ee' from 'Mary Poppins' making use of the piano and glockenspiel combined with the 'Quint' and 'Tierce' couplers which give the organ its distinctive 'Blackpool sound' which organ enthusiasts seem to either love or hate. I am certainly the former and not the latter! Many thanks to my fiancee Michelle for arranging this visit for my 34th birthday and of course to the Tower company and organist John Bowdler for making us so welcome.
