Coco is an upcoming American computer-animated musical fantasy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. Based on an original idea by Lee Unkrich, it is being directed by Unkrich, and co-directed and written by Adrian Molina.[3] The story follows a 12-year-old boy named Miguel who sets off a chain of events relating to a century-old mystery, leading to an extraordinary family reunion. The concept of the film is based on the Mexican holiday of the Day of the Dead. The screenplay was penned by Adrian Molina, and the story by Lee Unkrich. Pixar began developing animation in 2016. Unkrich and some of the film's crew members also visited Mexico for inspiration. The skeletons in the film were redesigned to be more appealing. Composer Michael Giacchino, who had worked on prior Pixar animated features, will compose the score. Coco is scheduled to be released on November 22, 2017. Gael Garcia Bernal has landed the lead role in the film Rosewater, which will be directed by first time director Jon Stewart. Bernal will play Maziar Bahari, a Bristish journalist who spent 118 days imprisoned and tortured in Iran while covering the country’s 2009 presidential elections. Bahari details his experience in the book titled Then They Came For Me, A Family’s Story Of Love, Captivity and Survival. Rosewater refers to the scent Bahari says accompanied his interrogator each time he returned for questioning about being a spy. This isn’t Gael’s first time starring in a political drama. Most recently he starred in the Oscar-nominted film NO about a campaign to defeat Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet in the country’s 1988 referendum.
