shazap**** This issue continues to follow nick fury in his preparation for the skrull invasion. It takes place six months ago and follows nick fury as he starts to assemble a team of super powered kids just as they start to discover their powers. Knowing that there are no current heroes that he can trust he goes after the ones that no one knows exists. He makes a great statement when he says that if you want to make sure you don’t get a rotten apple that you pick it from the tree and not the ground and so he goes after the kids that were part of his secret caterpillar files and brings them all together. We know that he’s made contact with the black widow and that the queen of the skrulls has decided to take her but we don’t know how that will effect our story yet, as she doesn’t appear in this issue. I can’t wait to see how this is going to come into play when the story catches up to the current time line. Will Nick Fury be able to save the world again?

shazap**** Wow this movie was great! Even thought I am not a big Iron Man Fan this is definitely one of my favorite super hero movies. It had action, humor, and excitement wrapped into what was definitely the best written film of the genre that I’ve seen. There was the perfect blend of origin and action and the dialog really keeps the pace of the movie going. Guys you can even take your girlfriends to this one without having to promise to see Sex and the City later on. The effects are near seamless and the suit is just kick ass. It delivered in the box office too exceeding expectations and coming in as the second biggest non sequel opening behind the first Spider-Man. This is a great way to start off the summer of super heroes and sets the bar really high. Go see this it’s a movie you’ll want to catch a couple times before it leaves the theaters and when you do, stick around for the closing credits you won’t be disappointed.

shazap**** I have been waiting and waiting and finally, ultimate venom is back. Bendis does a great job of filling us in on what happened on the night that venom was defeated and where he’s been since then without bogging us down. The delivery was really good with at kind of Forrest Gump style story telling going on except the people listening to Eddy’s stories don’t get on a bus, they get eaten. We see Eddy’s return and battle with spiderman and looks like he gets taken out by Silver Sable and her wolf pack, another cool recurring character, however the conversation on the park bench is taking place after that so there are still a lot of questions to be answered. I am really excited for the next issue to see how the fight ended, what will happen to venom and the fight that we all know is coming. This is a great issue and also a good one to jump in on. There is enough explanation to catch you up and it is the beginning of a new story arch that is looking to be amazing. Pick this one up it is definitely going on the must have list.

shazap**** This is a tough one because there is so much going on. DC just crams so much into their events it’s hard to know where to start. OK so lets start off with what I didn’t like. The first and most grievous offense was that Batman has been kidnapped. Really is Batman going to be the first one to get nabbed. Come on lets be realistic here, he’s freakin batman. Next thing I didn’t like was how it opened. By starting off in Japan with the super kids club it didn’t connect me to the story. I wondered if it was off in the future and what its relevance was. It started to come together and I think it will make more sense later on. I also didn’t like at J’ons funeral when Superman said “and we hope for a resurrection” Death has to mean something and it has been far too easy for the writers to bring people back. Now for the things I did like which thankfully out weigh the things I didn’t. First of all I love the concept of the bullet being shot back through time it’s kind of like in wanted where they had to fire a bullet from a whole other city to kill someone who was unkillable. It is a great twist and a very unique idea. I like that Lois is maybe dead in the explosion. It was

shazap**** This is the first of a three part series and actually pretty important to the series. I’m surprised that Marvel didn’t hype this a little more and that we haven’t seen any of this stuff in the other books. It made a bit clearer the fact that the skrulls leading this invasion are members of an extreme religious faction and not necessarily representative of all skrulls. It also brought back, as readers of the young avengers will remember that Hulkling is supposedly the savior of the skrull race. It is being alluded to that saving the skrull race may just mean stopping their invasion of earth and removing the extremists from power. It’s pretty cool stuff. The only thing I didn’t like was the art it was cartoony and childish and just not appealing. That said the writing was great and the impact of the story makes it worth picking up.

shazap**** OK so the first arch with millar and hitch was a little disappointing but wow did it all turn around in this issue. I had a feeling that big things were coming when doom showed up and the end of last issue but I had no idea there would be this much. There are also a ton of questions that this issue raises. The biggest question of all is right on the cover saying that this issue is the beginning of the death of the invisible woman, but it wasn’t present in the pages at all. There is of course the question of who the new super powers are, what they are doing to doom and what their ultimate goal is, but what’s got me really going is what is going on with valeria, who the new nanny really is, and what the hell is the Hulk doing with the new guys. Marvel is getting a bit casual with the crossovers. I don’t mind it, but this isn’t anywhere near the same hulk that is in the solo title. If you are going to use a character from another book at least make some effort at continuity. This is still a great arch, there’s still time to get in, and let me know below what you think the answers are to some of these questions.

shazap**** This issue picks up where the last left off but it really didn’t keep the pace up. There was definitely not enough action for this to be a Hulk book and while we did get a leap in the story it wasn’t enough to make up for the lack of fight. They ended the last book in the middle of that huge showdown and while their may have been a lot of action panels, not much really happened. The red hulk punching out the watcher I thought was pretty pointless and not really necessary. The crossovers persist this week as Thor shows up to take on the Red Hulk. I’m more interested in why than the actual fight itself. It feels really out of left field, I mean how is he related to this and why would he show up? It doesn’t really seam like his thing but hopefully we’ll get some good action out of it because based on this issue I’m not expecting much story.

shazap**** Alright the summer of super heroes has gotten off to a great start with Iron Man and the Incredible Hulk. Not only has it brought us a ton of entertainment but they have done remarkable well at the box office with Iron Man bringing in almost 306 million and Hulk at around 102 million and both are still climbing. It has not only added legitimacy to the genre but it has also helped to get the box office numbers back up and over where they were last year. We’ve got some more coming up so let’s go over the schedule. Next is Wanted which comes out this weekend, then hellboy July 11th, The Dark Night July 18th, and remember the punisher is due out this December along with The Spirit. You know marvel has really stepped up the quality of their films and I love that they are bringing the same sense of continuity to their movies that they have in their books. They have essentially turned their entire catalogue into one big franchise rather than relying on each character individually the way DC has. Establishing marvel studios and taking control of their movies was an amazing move and we as the fans are reaping the benefits in full. The super hero genre is here and I am loving every b

Welcome back zappers, Im Devin Curry with *******Shazap****. Your online video source for comic book news and reviews. Follow me on Twitter at *******twitter****/devincurry. I wasn’t real happy with how the last story ended but it did set up this issue which I enjoyed immensely. This story is getting into the heads of its heroes and villains. It follows the psychosis of two face in what has got to be one of the most heated battles between Two Face and Harvey dent that we have ever witnessed. Harvey is not only blaming Two Face for killing Carol, himself for failing her and Nightwing for not being able to stop Two Face. What is most interesting is what is going on with Nightwing. Dick blames himself for the death of Carol, and is set on bringing Two face to justice. Add on top of that the history of Two Face nearly beating him to death with a baseball bat when he was Robin, and more recently Harvey’s betrayal after the one year later when he went back to Two Face. When Barbara comes over she makes a comment that his voice changed when he was talking about Batman, it became like Bruce’s. It got the scary gravel. With Batman still missing and the Battle for the Cowl coming up is Nightwing finally becoming ready to accept the role Batman. Distributed by Tubemogul.

Welcome back zappers, Im Devin Curry with *******Shazap****. Your online video source for comic book news and reviews. Follow me on Twitter at *******twitter****/devincurry. First off this is a pretty monumental accomplishment for DC getting to issue 850 with Batman. Congrats DC. This story ended a lot stronger than I had anticipated. I lost interest with the last issue and was just waiting for the end. The additional information about Hush and Tommy Eliot was great and added the depth to his character that really solidifies him as a part of Batman’s rogue gallery. He was definitely a strong character but he lacked some of the history that the other villains have. The Bat family came together, which I always enjoy seeing, but the best part of this story is the epilogue. Catwoman is one vindictive kitty. What she did to Hush in retaliation for his attack on her just down right awesome. It also leaves Hush desperate, broken and with nothing. I have a feeling he is going to come back stronger and more vicious than ever. This is a very exciting time to be into the bat books and the next few months have the potential to bring us some great stories. This is the end of one chapter and the next issues will be a good time to get in if you’re not already. Distributed by Tubemogul.
