So this is the actual routine that we did to that line dance I had discovered that they do in some kuduro songs. Again, kuduro is a style of dance originating in Angola which is now popular in Portugal. Some of my students here had never done it before, yet they still did an excellent job. Was very proud of them even doing it on their own the last part of the song!

Love this beat that Shakira uses for this song. I believe the original is from El Cata, but she flipped it and made it even hotter. During the slow parts, it allows for some toning...I chose to do squats, but obviously anything else would go too. The chorus part is from a move that you will see Beto do when ZIN 29 comes out for my other favorite zumba song "Mueve la cadera." The verse part was inspired by Hugo.

I originally did just the chorus dance with my kids for the 1Goal Campaign, but figured I would go ahead and do the whole video. I haven't taken the African Beats Session at the Zumba Convention, and having had no dance training, really had no idea what I was going to do. But I got some help from watching videos of Christal in Cornwall and Ben from New York, and through in a little of my own flavor for it. Its currently mine and my students favorite routine to do! I wanted to break down the steps of this really cool dance I discovered today. Its called Kuduro, and it originated in Angola, and is currently popular in Portugal and other parts of Europe. In this video I break down the basic steps of the line dance that is popular to do to this beat. UPDATE: Here is the video of the full version: *******www.youtube****/watch?v=a27CbttvkvA Theres a lot of room for fitness variations with the arms and legs of this dance, but I kept it pretty basic for this tutorial.

This is a good song to do right after a fast one to get the heart rate down. For those who speak Spanish, its also has nice romantic lyrics. I usually do it right after my "jerk" routine since everyone is pretty tired after that one. The "heart" move is actually something they do a lot in the music video. One of my original routines that I decided to film again. Can you pick out one other person who was in the original video that I did of this, who is this one as well? Might not recognize her! This song can be used during the class, or as perhaps one of the warmup songs. I always liked it because many are familiar with it, and it shows the student to listen to the song for the cues as opposed to just being focused on the teacher. In this song, literally since the singer tells you what to do, but in other songs we use for Zumba, the music always dictates what we should do!
