*******www.Nonby**** Ladies and gentlemen, your long wait is OVER! The Coen Brothers are back with their newest release, A Serious Man, coming to theatres October second. When Larry Gopnik, a professor from the Midwest, finds that his brother has landed on some hard times, he does what any other brother would and invites him to leave. But as brother's chances of leaving fall by the day, Larry's wife just can't take it any more and prepares to leave herself. Check out the trailer. Some have said that this is the Coen brothers' departure from comedy, though who could mistake No Country For Old Men for a comedy? I say they're finding comedy to their liking and putting it into just about everything they do any more. But will you invite this one in? Or has it already worn out its welcome? Hit the comments section below to tell us what you think, and thanks for watching! A Serious Man Cast: Michael Stuhlbarg, Fred Melamed, Richard Kind, Aaron Wolf, Sari Wagner, Jessica McManus, Adam Arkin A Serious Man movie trailer courtesy Focus Features. A Serious Man opens in US theaters October 2nd, 2009. A Serious Man is directed by Ethan Coen and Joel Coen.

Kameramann Roger Deakins, ausgezeichnet u.a. für „No Country for Old Men" und „O Brother Where Art Thou", fand für TRUE GRIT raue, eindringliche Cinemascope-Bilder.

Coens, Bardem, Cotillard Win Oscars By DAVID GERMAIN -- 21 hours ago LOS ANGELES (AP) — "No Country for Old Men" was living up to its front-runner status at Sunday's Academy Awards, winning adapted screenplay for the Coen brothers and supporting actor for Javier Bardem. "La Vie En Rose" star Marion Cotillard was a surprise winner in the best actress category. Cotillard rode the spirit of Edith Piaf to Oscar triumph over Julie Christie, who had been expected to win for "Away From Her." Joel and Ethan Coen are mainly known for their original screenplays, making only two films based on adaptations, "No Country" from Pulitzer winner Cormac McCarthy's novel, and "O Brother, Where Art Thou?," loosely inspired by the ancient Greek epic "The Odyssey." "I think whatever success we've had in this area has been entirely attributable to how selective we are. We've only adapted Homer and Cormac McCarthy," said Joel Coen. Previous original-screenplay winners for 1996's "Fargo," the Coens came in as the best-picture and directing favorites for "No Country." The Coens missed out on a chance to make Oscar history — four wins for a single film — when they lost the editing prize, for which they were nominated under the pseudonym Roderick Jaynes. "The Bourne Ultimatum" won the editing Oscar and swept all three categories in which it was nominated, including sound editing and sound mixing. Cotillard tearfully thanked her director, Olivier Dahan. "Maestro Olivier, you rocked my life. You have truly rocked my life," said Cotillard, a French beauty who is a dynamo as Piaf, playing the warbling chanteuse through three decades, from raw late teens as a singer rising from the gutter through international stardom and her final days in her frail 40s. "Thank you life, thank you love. And it is true that there are some angels in this city." A relatively fresh face in Hollywood, Cotillard has U.S. credits that include "Big Fish," "A Good Year" and the upcoming "Public Enemies," featuring Johnny Depp and Christian Bale. With a heartbreaking turn as a woman succumbing to Alzheimer's in "Away From Her," Christie had been expected to win her second Oscar. She won best actress 42 years ago for "Darling." Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role Marion Cotillard Marion Cotillard La Vie en Rose NOMINATED ROLE Marion Cotillard plays Edith Piaf, the legendary French singer who rose to international fame from her beginnings on the streets of Paris. ACADEMY AWARDS HISTORY This is the first Academy Award nomination for Marion Cotillard. FILM SYNOPSIS In a life marked by personal tragedy and artistic triumph, Edith Piaf grows from a child born in poverty to an internationally acclaimed singer. Raised primarily by her grandmother, a brothel keeper, young Edith is discovered singing on the streets of Paris and begins a remarkable career that cannot save her from a life haunted by drugs, alcohol, and a succession of unhappy love affairs.

Hello, I'm Rebecca Field with today's UPI entertainment update on this Tuesday, January 8, 2008. Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban will soon have a new addition to their family. The actress's rep says they're expecting their first baby and they're thrilled. This will be Kidman's third child, she has two kids from her previous marriage with Tom Cruise. It will be Urban's first time being a parent. The couple married in Australia in June of 2006. The Golden Globe Award Ceremony is being officially cancelled. Organizers of the event say there will no longer be a televised event this Sunday...only a press conference announcing winners. This comes in the middle of the Writer's Guild Strike. The WGA threatened to picket at the awards and most stars had refused to cross the picket lines. "No Country for Old Men" won big at last night's Critic's Choice Awards. The film took best picture of the year, best Director for Joel and Ethan Coen and best supporting actor for Javier Bardem. The Broadcast Film Critics Association also named Nikki Blonsky best young actress for "Hairspray" and Julie Christie best actress for "Away From Her." Other winners included Daniel Day-Lewis who took acting honors for "There Will be Blood" and "Juno" starring Ellen Page took best comedy. Dr. Phil McGraw is canceling a show dedicated to Britney Spears. The TV therapist had planned to air a show this week focusing on the pop star's problems. But McGraw released a statement yesterday saying out of respect for the Spears' family, he won't go forward with the taping. The TV host reportedly visited the singer while she spent 72 hours under mental lockdown at an L.A. hospital over the weekend. TV host Elisabeth Hasselbeck returned to "The View" yesterday with her newborn in her arms. She made her comeback following two and a half months on maternity leave. Hasselbeck and her husband Tim welcomed a baby boy named Taylor Thomas in November. The new addition joins the couple's two year old daughter Grace. That's all for now. For more on those stories and all the day's news go to upi****. Thanks for watching.
