Three incarnations of the festival were realized in Rio de Janeiro, in 1985, 1991 and 2001 and two in Lisbon, in 2004 and 2006. The second edition was held from January 18-27, 1991 at the Maracanã stadium. Headliners were Guns N' Roses, Prince and George Michael, each being top billed for two of the event's nine nights. George Michael's second concert, on January 27, the festival's closing day, featured his ex-Wham! partner Andrew Ridgeley, who joined Michael for a few songs at the encore. ♫ Papa Was a Rollin' Stone ♫ "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone" is a soul song, written by Motown songwriters Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong as a single for Motown act The Undisputed Truth in 1971. This version of "Papa" was released as a single in early 1972, and peaked at number sixty-three on the pop charts and number twenty-four on the R&B charts. Later in 1972, Whitfield, who also produced the song, took "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone" and remade it as a twelve-minute record for The Temptations, which was a number-one hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and won three Grammy Awards in 1973. While the original Undisputed Truth version of the song has been largely forgotten, The Temptations' version of the song has been an enduring and influential soul classic. It was ranked #168 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time, one of the group's three songs on the list. In retrospect, Otis Williams considers "Papa" to be the last real classic and hit for the group. Release and awards A seven-minute edited version of "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone" was released as a single in September 1972; its b-side was Whitfield's instrumental without the Temptations' vocals. "Papa" rose to number one on the U.S. pop charts and number five on the U.S. R&B charts, becoming the Temptations' final pop number-one hit. The song, the anchor of the 1972 Temptations album All Directions, won three 1973 Grammys: its a-side won for Best R&B Vocal Performance by a Group, and its b-side won for Best R&B Instrumental (awarded to Whitfield and arranger/conductor Paul Riser), and Whitfield and Barret Strong won for Best R&B Song as the song's composers. A few notable covers of "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone" have been recorded, including a 1993 version by George Michael, released on the EP Five Live. Also "Papa Was a Rollin Stone" has been mixed with Coldplay's "Clocks" to make "Papa was a Clock". The latter featured "Bohemian Rhapsody", which stayed at number one in the UK charts for nine weeks.Their success continued through the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s. In 1987, Mercury was diagnosed HIV positive and in 1991 died of bronchopneumonia, a complication of AIDS. Deacon's retirement followed in 1997. Portugal booked their place in the last eight of the World Cup and a meeting with England on Saturday after beating Holland in a stormy encounter. *******www.footballworldcupbrazil2014**** Both teams finished the game with nine men after a game which equalled the World Cup record for bookings - 16 - and broke the record for red cards. Deco and Costinha were dismissed for Portugal, while Khalid Boulahrouz and Gio van Bronkhorst saw red for Holland. Maniche scored the only goal, firing into the top corner after 23 minutes. Luiz Felipe Scolari's side will now play England on Saturday 1 July at 1600 BST in Gelsenkirchen, live on BBC One, Radio Five Live and on the BBC Sport website. Russian referee Valentin Ivanov set the tone for his performance by booking players from the start for late tackles that he could have given free-kicks for. Costinha was the first to go, his first offence a sliding foul on Philip Cocu and his second a blatant handball, leaving Ivanov with little choice. Portugal should have been reduced to nine when Figo was only booked for headbutting Van Bommel, who took his time before falling to the floor. FIVE LIVE VIEW Even though the ref was card happy, the players weren't that good either Kumarshah 606: Have your say Soon after Figo was at it again. This time it was his turn to fake serious injury as he tangled with Boulahrouz, who was handed a second booking and dismissed. There was more action in the referee's notebook than on the pitch. Deco was booked for a flying foul on Johnny Heitinga and he was off soon after, shown a second yellow for refusing to hand the ball back to Holland as Ivanov continued to throw cards around like confetti. The bookings prevented a young and inexperienced Holland side from gaining any sort of momentum as they chased the game. Their miserable evening was compounded in the fourth minute of stoppage time when Van Bronckhorst was shown a second yellow for a minor foul. Yet they had started so brightly, keen to test Ricardo from range as Mark van Bommel and Robin van Persie went close in the early stages. From being in control the Dutch seemed to switch off - and their lapse in concentration invited pressure that cost them a goal. Maniche's first-half strike was enough to secure the win Deco found space down the right and his cross was laid off by Pauleta to Maniche, who shimmied to create room and hammered the ball into the top corner from 16 yards. Maniche blasted over as Portugal poured forward but their plans took a turn for the worse when Cristiano Ronaldo limped off with an injured thigh after half an hour. The Dutch seemed to gain encouragement from this and Van Persie twisted and turned sublimely in the Portugal box before toe-poking wide from an acute angle. Costinha's dismissal forced Scolari into a change at the break but it was a surprising decision to take off Pauleta and play Luis Figo as the lone striker in a 4-4-1 formation. They were nearly pegged back immediately but Cocu fluffed his lines, slamming against the underside of the bar from eight yards after Nuno Valente's poor control. Ricardo tipped a Van Bommel drive round the post before the keeper did well to parry a Wesley Sneijder shot from distance, but Holland never seriously looked like forcing extra-time. It was Marco van Basten's first competitive defeat as Dutch coach and leaves Holland still waiting for their first win against Portugal since 1991. As for Scolari, the Brazilian can look forward to yet another finals meeting with Sven-Goran Eriksson - his teams put England out of the 2002 World Cup and Euro 2004.

Have You Ever Seen The Rain By Smokie With Lyrics Someone told me long ago There's a calm before the storm I know - It's been coming for some time When it's over so they sy It'll rain a sunny day I know shining down like water I want to know have you ever seen the rain I want to know Have you ever seen the rain comin' down on a sunny day Yesterday and days before sund is cold and rain is hard I know - been that way for all my time 'till forever on it goes Through the circle fast and slow I know - and it can't stop I wonder I want to know... someone told me long ago There's a calm before the storm I know - it's been coming for some time When it's over so they say It'll rain a sunny day I know - shining down like water I want to know... I want to know... Smokie | Biography Originally formed in Yorkshire, England, in 1966, Smokie hit the British pop charts several times during the late '70s with updated psychedelic pop, influenced by the band's stay on Mickie Most's Rak Records as well as the writers of most of the band's hit material, Rak's Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman. Vocalist Chris Norman, guitarist Terry Utley, and bassist Alan Silson had played in the Elizabethans, but formed the band Kindness in 1968, with the addition of drummer Pete Spencer. The quartet recorded many singles during the late '60s and early '70s, but failed to show any chart activity until 1975. That year, signed to Rak Records and billed as Smokey, the band hit number three in the U.K. with "If You Think You Know How to Love Me." After another Top Ten hit, "Don't Play Your Rock 'N Roll to Me," Smokey became Smokie; during 1976, the group scored with three Top 20 hits, including the number-five "Living Next Door to Alice." Smokie hit number five both in 1977 ("It's Your Life") and 1978 ("Oh Carol"), but the band's chart run ended by early 1980, and following 1982's Midnight Delight, they disbanded. Both Spencer and Norman continued to work at Rak during the '80s, writing hits for several groups; they reformed Smokie in 1988, resurfacing with the LP My Heart Is True. Two more

Psychologist Kevin Dutton presents the classic psychological test known as "the trolley problem" with a variation. Take the test and measure your response on the psychopathic spectrum. Transcript-- We all know about the psychopath's enhanced killer instinct, their finely tuned vulnerability antennae. But it may surprise you to know that there are some situations in which psychopaths are actually more adept at saving lives than they are at taking them. So let me give you an example of what I mean by that, okay?  Imagine you've got a train and it's hurtling down a track.  In its path, five people are trapped on the line and cannot escape. Fortunately, you can flick a switch, which diverts the train down a fork in that track, away from those five people, but at a price. There is another person trapped down that fork and the train will kill them instead. Question:  Should you flick the switch? Now, most people have little trouble deciding what to do under those circumstances; though, the thought of flicking the switch isn't exactly a nice one, the utilitarian choice as it were, killing just the one person instead of the five represents the least worst option, okay. But now let me give you a variation. You've got a train speeding out of control down a track and it's gonna plow into five people on the line.  But this time you are standing behind a very large stranger on a footbridge above that track. The only way to save the people is to heave the stranger over.  He will fall to a certain death, but his considerable bulk will block the train, saving five lives.  Question. Should you flick the switch? Now we've got what we might call a real dilemma on our hands, okay.  While the score in lives is precisely the same as in the first scenario, five to one, one's choice of action appears far trickier.  Now why should that be?  Well, the reason it turns out, all boils down to temperature, okay? Case one represents what we might call an impersonal dilemma.  It involved those areas of the brain, the prefrontal cortex, the posterior parietal cortex, in particular, the anterior para singular cortex, the temporal pole and the superior temporal sulcus - bit of neuroanatomy for you there - primarily responsible for what we call cold empathy, for reasoning and rational thought. Case two, on the other hand, represents what we might call a personal dilemma.  It involves the emotion center of the brain known as the amygdala, the circuitry of hot empathy.  What we might call the feeling of feeling what another person is feeling. Now, psychopaths, just like most normal members of the population, have no trouble at all with case one.  They flick the switch and the train   diverts accordingly.  Killing just the one person instead of the five.  But, this is where the plot thickens.  Quite unlike normal members of the population, psychopaths also experience little difficulty with case two. Psychopaths, without a moment's hesitation are perfectly willing to chuck the fat guy over the rails, if that's what the doctor orders.  Now moreover, this difference in behavior has a distinct neural signature.  The pattern of brain activation in both normal people and psychopaths is identical on the presentation of the impersonal moral dilemma, but radically different when things start to get a bit more personal. Imagine that I were to hook you up to a brain scanner, a functional magnetic resonance imaging machine, and were to present you with those two dilemmas, okay.  What would I observe as you went about trying to solve them?  Well, at the precise moment that the nature of the dilemma switches from impersonal to personal, I would see the emotion center of your brain, your amygdala and related brain circuits, the medial orbital frontal cortex for example, light up like a pinball machine.  I would witness the moment in other words when emotion puts it money in the slot. But in psychopaths, I would see precisely nothing.  And the passage from impersonal to personal would slip by unnoticed. Because that emotion neighborhood of their brains, that emotional zip code has a neural curfew.  And that's why they're perfectly happy to chuck that fat guy over the side without even batting an eye. Directed / Produced by Jonathan Fowler & Elizabeth Rodd
