Model no: 155 Based on the principle of PWM controlled BLDC / PMDC motor on closed loop feedback giving RPM reference of the motor by a shaft mounted IR sensor is fed to the control the circuit. A display unit displays the full speed and one can enter the desired percentage with help of Keypad to reduce the speed. The pulse width would be automatically adjusted to maintain the DC power to the motor such that the entered speed percentage matches the RPM. The above operation is carried out by using one opto isolator and a MOSFET for driving the BLDC motor IR sensing is used for getting the speed reference to the microcontroller as error signal somewhat equivalent to a fuzzy / PI logic control.
The power supply consists of a step down transformer 230/12V, which steps down the voltage to 12V AC. Model No: 181 Fuzzy controllers are very simple conceptually. They consist of an input stage, a processing stage, and an output stage. The input stage maps sensor or other inputs, such as switches, thumbwheels, and so on, to the appropriate membership functions and truth values. The processing stage invokes each appropriate rule and generates a result for each, then combines the results of the rules. Finally, the output stage converts the combined result back into a specific control output value. The project shall be using a microcontroller with a set of switches or a matrix key pad to define the speed of the BLDC in percentage of its rated speed being displayed in a LCD display. The output from the microcontroller drives the motor through a driver circuit.
PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) wave can be used to control the speed of the motor. Here the average voltage given or the average current flowing through the motor will change depending on the ON and OFF time of the pulses controlling the speed of the motor i.e. The duty cycle of the wave controls its speed. On changing the duty cycle (ON time), we can change the speed. By interchanging output ports, it will effectively change direction of the motor.

Our final year project is to build an AC induction motor controller using Direct Torque Control with Fuzzy Logic. In this video we have implemented a variable frequency drive (VFD) using a clear timer on compare (CTC) interrupt routine.
The interrupt fires 6 times/cycle to produce a 3 phase output. The frequency can be selected in increments of 5Hz using the keypad.
