Perhaps one of the most difficult trailers to watch released so far in 2009 features both Mariah Carey, Mo'nique and Lenny Kravits in Precious, due out in theatres in November. Clarice "Precious" Jones is a sixteen year old with big dreams--she wants to be on magazine covers and in videos on BET. Of course, she's also got big difficulties--she's sixteen, still in junior high and pregnant with her second child. But can she overcome her many struggles to make something of herself? Check out the Trailer! There are two ways to go on this one--one, to herald it as a story of triumph over adversity, or two, to decry it as a piece that has been done several times before and brings very little new to the table. The resemblance between Precious and earlier work like Lean on Me, Dangerous Minds, Higher Learning, and even the mockery of same High School High from the Zuckers suggests that this is a very old theme. Which way are you leaning with this one? Hit the comments section below and weigh in, and thanks for watching! Precious Cast: Gabourey "Gabby" Sidibe, Paula Patton, Mo'Nique, Mariah Carey, Sherri Shepherd, Lenny Kravitz Precious movie trailer provided by Lionsgate. Precious opens in US theaters on November 6th, 2009. Precious is directed by Lee Daniels.

MAPLE PICTURES: Mo'Nique Interview: PRECIOUS: In Theatres November 2009 With sheer audacity and utter authenticity, director Lee Daniels tackles PRECIOUS: BASED ON THE NOVEL PUSH BY SAPPHIRE and creates an unforgettable film that sets a new standard for cinema of its kind. Precious Jones (Gabourey Gabby Sidibe) is a high-school girl with nothing working in her favor. She is pregnant with her fathers child - for the second time. She cant read or write, and her schoolmates tease her for being fat. Her home life is a horror, ruled by a mother (MoNique) who keeps her imprisoned both emotionally and physically. Preciouss instincts tell her one thing: if shes ever going to break from the chains of ignorance, she will have to dig deeply into her own resources. Dont be misled - PRECIOUS: BASED ON THE NOVEL PUSH BY SAPPHIRE is not a film wallowing in the stillness of depression; instead, it vibrates with the kind of energy derived only from anger and hope. The entire cast are amazing; they carry out a firestorm of raw emotion. Daniels has drawn from them inimitable performances that will rivet you to your seat and leave you too shocked to breathe. If you passed Precious on the street, you probably wouldnt notice her. But when her story is revealed, as Daniels does in this courageous film, you are left with an indelible image of a young woman who - with creativity, humor, and ferocity - finds the strength to turn her life around. Starring: Mo'Nique , Paula Patton, Mariah Carey, Gabourey Sidibe, Sherri Shepherd, Lenny Kravitz Directed by: Lee Daniels Presented by: Oprah Winfrey & Tyler Perry Distributed in CANADA by MAPLE PICTURES. www.maplepictures**** *******facebook****/MaplePictures *******twitter****/MaplePictures
