Should we change the festival name? If so, what to? We often debate the name of the festival, and know that festival-goers do too. Does it represent us? Does it represent you? Is it too long? Should we change or retain 27 years of heritage? Debate, discuss. Join us for a packed programme of films, events, club nights and more. 14th - 24th March. Sparkle is not at its heart a gay film, but if you know the work of Neil Hunter and Tom Hunsinger (Lawless Heart, Boyfriends), or if you like watching a good film with a queer sensibility, then you'll love it. 22-year-old Liverpudlian Sam (Shaun Evans, who played a gay character in Teachers) comes down to London with his cabaret-singing dotty mother to change his life for the better. Serving drinks at a party, he hooks up with Sheila, a powerful PR boss in a pair of high-heeled boots (played by the fabulous Stockard Channing, need we say more). But when he also begins an affair with a younger woman, life begins to get just a little complicated. Sparkle is a warm, funny film with great performances throughout (look out for Antony Head as a sardonic stately British homo and Bob Hoskins as a lovable loner). Bring your hanky... A Vertigo Films release of an Isle of Man Film, Baker Street, U.K. Film Council presentation, in association with North West Vision and BBC Films, of a Magic Light Pictures production. (International sales: Beyond Films, Sydney.) Produced by Martin Pope, Michael Rose. Executive producers, Steve Christian, Keith Evans, Steve Jenkins, Christopher Moll, Paul Trijbits. Directed, written by Neil Hunter, Tom Hunsinger.

Finding Mr. Wright is a gay romantic comedy the likes of which we've never seen. There is no tale here about coming out, living with AIDS, or scenarios relying on the gags of the stereotypical flamers we have all come to know and love. Instead, it is simply a love story where the characters just happen to be gay. And not just gay men we also feature a plethora of gay culture, including lesbians, drag queens, and the straight people who come to love and stand beside us on our journeys through life. Ultimately, whereas a lot of gay films tend to rely on the beauty of the male form, here we are trying to tap into something even deeper: the beauty of the heart.

Two friends head out to a party to have some fun and relax. Little do they know that they are both about to deal with emotions about their lives that bring them together in a way neither of them expected. This film has no man-on-man contact, rather it is a film of subtleties between men exploring emotional boundaries, rather than physical ones. It is a gay film because of its origin and addition to the Boys Briefs 5 collection, which is a gay short film collection. Enjoy! Copyright 2008 - Speed Film Productions & Picture This! Entertainment.

RUBEN'S PLACE - ( Use Ear Phones for better sound quality and turn on close captioning option.) A slice of life story about a young man named Ruben, who reconnects with his boyhood friend Jimmy. If your having trouble hearing the dialog, please watch on VIMEO and click on this link. ********vimeo****/44810536. View Trailer. Click on this link: *******www.youtube****/watch?v=jmCpdzrDqg0 In the film, Ruben is played by Dawson Montoya and Jimmy is played by Jason Lieu. The two main characters. Ruben's father is played by David Klein. Ruben also has an an Uncle named Vic who is played by Ray Renati. Uncle Vic has a girlfriend named Mercedes, who is played by Solana Crawford. All local Bay Area Actors, whom I had the pleasure to work with last summer. I filmed the entire project on my Canon 7D camera over the course of two months. I also used two lenses, the Canon 50 mm lens and the Nikon 50 mm lens. Most of all shots where done with the 50 mm Nikon lens with an adapter for the Canon 7D. I edited the film using Final Cut Pro (software). Its been a long 10 months of editing, and glad that part of it is over, though it was well spent. Very happy with the outcome, and I really had no budget for this movie, except for my very limited resources. I thought it turned out well over all, base on my shoe string budget. :) It's the little film that could. I took courses at San Francisco School of Digital Filmmaking and ever since I completed the classes, I have been on a journey to get out there and just start filming and having some fun. Many movies inspired me over the years, and of course my beloved mother, Elsie, whom I have dedicated this film too. This is my first project that is about 60 minutes! I'm very excited that the film is ready for everyone to view. I apologize in advance if some the language and the subject matter is offensive, but hey- you can always just press the stop button and watch something else, right? It's real life, and welcome to 2012! LOL! Also most of the footage is recorded low, so you may have to turn up the volume on the youtube player, all the way up 100%, and your computer volume to about 85% or so. Hope you enjoy it, as much I did making the film! Thanks for watching!
