How to get Ripped Abs: Week 0 * So this is it. January 1st 2011. To be honest I have never been one to do the whole New Year's resolution thing. Always thought they were a little cliche, but what the hell. It's a new year, a chance at a new beginning.
A fresh start. Today I want to share with you my beginning, and hopefully it will help you to mark yours. You see I have been on a mission to get lean and ripped abs for as long as I can remember. This is probably as a result of being a fat kid, and going through what they call the "chubby phase".
I don't know about you but as a kid I had many role model's and heroes that I idolized. Growing up in the 80′s it was Sylvester Stallone (Rocky), Arnold Schwarzenegger (Conan the Barbarian), Jean Claude VanDam (Kickboxer) and of course He-Man! At this young age, this became the male archetype models I had, and so a goal of being lean and ripped began. Unfortunately even though I have had much success with getting out of the "chubby phase".
I failed time and time again at getting absolutely ripped. So here's the plan for the New Year. Myself and several other contributors to Rippedology are going to be getting in top shape before your very eyes. Each week I will be posting a new video of my progress, along with photos, measurements, etc. Along the way I will share with you the plan that I have shared with the Rippedology team. So you can see what we are doing, and why we are doing it. As the tag line says.
Rippedology is about making Fat Loss Simple. In order to get rid of all the stubborn body fat we have to work with out bodies, and not against them. You may be asking what the hell do I know. In spite of my failures in the past, I have learned an amazing amount about how the body works, and how we build muscle and lose fat.
About two years ago, I stumbled onto some science that I earlier dismissed as B.S. It was when I began to question the very foundation of my beliefs that I saw amazing results. And I lost a lot of body fat effortlessly while maintaining muscle, sanity, and my health. Plus as an added bonus, it was a lot of fun! I'll tell you more soon. But I slipped, due to the stress of a brutal divorce, and custody battle.
I let myself put on the pounds yet again. This time not from a lack of knowledge, or will power, I simply said "screw it" for awhile. Maybe you can relate, maybe not. But I am just like you, and we all have our setbacks. So to kick off the New Year, and my new life. I plan to risk the embarrassment of failing miserably in public. Yup you can laugh all you want if I ante up, and lose.
But I am confident I can help you too. So keep watching week by week. You will also get to watch the other brave souls as they join me on this journey to taking control of their health and bodies once and for all. I applaud them for being willing to do it publicly. It takes a lot of cajones to do what they have volunteered to do.

This week my plan is to start a little lazily. Which I recommend for anyone beginning a new plan. I will begin implementing rippedology fasting protocol, as well as calorie cycling. Also a day of weight training to kick us off.

When you want to travel in the Philippines, It's very important to not get ripped off when you arrive at the Manila Airport! It would definitely make your stay in the Philippines start with a bad day.
Here's a few travel tips regarding taxis:
1. Visit the 'departures' area of Manila airport to find a taxi driver
The 'arrivals' pickup area at Manila airport is filled with scammers and bad taxi drivers. (This is true with most international airports) They've got a continual stream of desperate travelers trying to decipher their Lonely Planet books and asking them for rates. The drivers know they can typically quote an insanely high price and still pick up a passenger. They will rip off any innocent-looking tourist that just recklessly jumps into any available taxi. There are many ripoff cases that happen to every tourist, the airport security are helpless in preventing them due to the sheer number of people everyday.
2. Know where you are going before getting in the taxi cab
Watch your destination and current location on Google maps and watch to make sure the taxi follows the correct route. If your taxi driver sees that you have a map, he'll be less likely to drive in circles trying to rip you off! Having Google Maps on hand is not one of the travel essentials.
3. Don't put your bag in the trunk of the car
Every day unknowing tourists put their bags in the back of unknown cabs. Their driver brings them to their final destination, and then hits the gas as soon as they hop out of the passengers seat. Their bag is gone, they have no idea where it's headed, and the police (of course) won't help at all!
