In 1984, Oscar-winning composer Giorgio Moroder (Top Gun, Midnight Express, Flashdance) reintroduced Fritz Lang’s 1927 science fiction epic METROPOLIS to a new generation of moviegoers. He added color tinting, fewer inter-titles, plus a throbbing new rock soundtrack to Lang’s iconic imagery. Featuring songs from some of the biggest stars of the early MTV era: Freddie Mercury, Pat Benatar, Adam Ant, Bonnie Tyler, Loverboy, Jon Anderson and others, it became a dramatic vehicle for Moroder’s visionary music and a beautiful retro-futurist timepiece. Through faithfully maintaining Lang’s intriguing and timeless storyline, today, it’s this version of METROPOLIS that first comes to mind for millions around the world.
A new musical scene emerge... Called indifferently Neo-Disco, Cosmic Disco, or Space Disco, a new style is raising from clubs in New York, London, Paris, LA or Tokyo.
Far from the somehow dusty sound of the 70's, the NuDisco scene reinvest the disco imagery, somewhere between abstract, electronic, and dance music...more "djable" as some of the bproducers say. Giorgio Moroder is not so far.
Discover the NuDisco extended family. On top of new and original “NuDisco” productions, the scene integrates the many processes of Re-Editing. The idea behind the Re-Edit is to take an obscure and forgotten track (Disco, Funk, Psychedelic Rock, Early Electro) and reshape it, rearrange it, play with it, in other words: rebuild it entierly to make it sound like 2008.
The ArtPack met five DJs/Producers from around the world, five emblematic figures from this new musical trend: Cosmo Vitelli, Mock & Toof, Aeroplane, Marco Dos Santos, Runaway...

Words & Music by Carly Emerick & Hoyt Emerick
You feel like you'll never break free
and you're a prisoner of me
I keep you away from the life that you want
It's scary to think about it
The murder you want to commit
could go undetected if I don't tell no one
Lead In 1:
The ceiling is falling down on me
I keep one eye open, open when I sleep
The bed is cold and I've known it for a long time
It's getting old, The bed is cold
The bed is cold and I've known it for a long time
The truth be told, The bed is cold
I wake with a chill each morning
Has nobody seen the warning
Or are these delusions imaginary
The lock that I found on the storm door
A silhouette the moves across the floor
My every suspicion corrupts my sanity
Four walls are closing in on me
The air is freezing thirty two degrees
Though I have been looking for it everywhere
The feeling is gone but there's a ghost of me there

When I was fifteen, sixteen when I started really to play the guitar
I definately wanted to become a musician
It was almost impossible because the dream was so big
I didn't see any chance because I was living in a little town, I was studying.
And when I finally broke away from school and became a musician
I thought "well now I may have a little bit of a chance"
Because all i really wanted to do is music and not only play music
But compose music.
At that time, in Germany, in 69-70, they had already discotheques
So I would take my car, would go to a discotheque and sing maybe 30 minutes
I think I had about 7-8 songs. I would partially sleep in the car
Because i didn't want to drive home and that help me for about almost 2 years
To survive. In the beginning, I wanted to do a album with the sound of the 50s, the sound of the 60s, of the 70s and then have a sound of the future.
And I said: "Wait a second?
I know the synthesizer, why don't I use the synthesizer which is the sound of the future." And I didn't have any idea what to do but I knew I needed a click so we put a click on the 24 track which then was synched to the moog modular. I knew that it could be a sound of the future but I didn't realise how much impact it would be.
My name is Giovanni Giorgio, but everybody calls me Giorgio.
Once you free your mind about a concept of harmony and music being correct, you can do whatever you want. So nobody told me what to do, and there was no preconception of what to do.

Chase is an electronic instrumental by Giorgio Moroder from the Academy Award-winning soundtrack and album Midnight Express (1978), then extended and released as maxi single and made the Hot 100 singles charts in January of 1979, charting as high as #33. Although originally branded as disco, the song is considered to be, along with Donna Summer's "I Feel Love", a pioneer of the hi-NRG genre that came to prominence in the early 1980s. The music was arranged by Giorgio Moroder with Harold Faltermeyer.
This was also the main theme from Art Bell's Coast To Coast AM show which dealt with paranormal or conspiracy theories.
