Forget the fist-full of singles, bring a Bible -- this is pole dancing for Jesus! Hallelujah?
Yes, they writhe around poles, wearing platform high heels, but a group of women in a small town near Houston say it’s about exercise.... (Video: KPLR)
...not about sex. Just another way to worship. No men allowed. The woman who shepherds the class tells Houston ABC affiliate KTRK...
“God gives us these bodies and they’re supposed to be our temples and we’re supposed to take care of them and that’s what we’re doing.”
Since stations in Texas covered the story – it’s gone viral. Some writers, like NBC Sports’ Rick Chandler, are having fun with it.
“And the Lord saw the pole dancing, and knew that it was good. ... I think that’s from Corinthians, though I could be wrong.”
But ABC News says the Bible actually does endorse dancing for worship.
“...namely, Psalm 149:3: ‘Let them praise His name with dancing; Let them sing praises to Him with timbrel and lyre.’”
A writer for The Atlanta Post nixes that idea, saying...
“...pole dancing has evolved as an ungodly mockery of sacred Messianic and Davidic dance as noted in the Old Testament, particularly in the book of Psalms. ... I wholeheartedly disagree with those who would think that God would not have a problem with women using their bodies to somehow spread the gospel.”
A Washington Post blogger says pole dancing is spreading in general -- like tattoos, it is no longer as underground as it once was.
“Now everybody’s doing it! Clear plastic heels are the new glass slippers! … Sure, it involves your writhing around a pole, but that is because doing so has cardio benefits, not because you are hoping someone will spot you and slip dollars into your underwear.”
Still, doing it for Jesus, well Culture Map Houston asks what’s next, quote– “prostituting for Jesus ... Eating KFC Double Downs for Jesus ... South Beach Diet for Jesus”?

The new dance craze that everybody will be doing at your local city. It's called the Spooktick dance. To do this dance, first you have to stick your finger in your belly button. Next you have to swing your other hand on the floor. People can have their own style to it and can also perform tricks such as doing flips or giving a hi-5 to someone also doing it.
