A New Generation Of Digital Headsets Is Coming To Aviation
There are few things we love more at ANN than a good game of "Gadget Patrol." Checking out the latest and greatest in aviation goodies is about as good a time as anything else while the variety and ingenuity we see in this market continues to blow us away.
At the 2008 AOPA Convention, "Gadget Patrol" was in full swing and it wasn't long until we took a look at the latest generation of digital headsets from beyerdynamic... and came away impressed.
Founded in 1924, in Berlin, beyerdynamic (the name is not capitalized) GmbH & Co. KG has become a powerhouse in all things audio. Throughout a number of industries with need for audio gear, this is a name that has some serious bearing and now they're setting their sites, with renewed interest, on aviation with the introduction of their HS 600 DANR (Digital Adaptive Noise Reduction).
The new HS 600 DANR is beyerdynamic's top aviation headset offering. According to the company, the new HS 600 DANR is the only Aviation headset worldwide that provides a processor-controlled active noise attenuation with an intelligent algorithm producing the counter sound. This feature results in a quick adaptation to changing noise levels and a good perception of audio warnings. While active headsets of the former generation are optimized for a limited frequency range, beyerdynamic claims that their DANR system can adapt more quickly to different noise levels and to recognized peaks of noise, such as engines with a high rotary speed, within a wide frequency range. This advantage of the DANR concept makes this new headset a benchmarking product.
The DANR processor is integrated into an audio box to which a mobile phone or MP3 player can be connected. For the power supply two AA batteries can be inserted into the audio box or a 3-pin XLR cable can be connected to the on-board power supply system in the aircraft. When the headset is not in use, the audio box is switched off automatically. In addition to the new technology the HS 600 DANR also emphasizes comfort and design. The headband pad is covered with soft leather and the ear pads are viscoelastic. The ear caps accented with a unique "Carbon Look" and accented with brushed aluminum bezels.
The two AA batteries offer a minimum operating time of 25 hours, though an on-board power supply system (12 - 36 V DC) may be utilized instead. The system weighs less than 12 ounces (minus cables).

The Soyo Group FreeStyler 500 BlueTooth headset review.
The FreeStyler 500 BlueTooth headset has a cool look and design and has fairly long battery life. Id have to say that im not sure what i would change about it if i could change something, i think it was designed well.

The first thing I want to talk about is the price. For $15.00 you cant really go wrong, and the BlueTooth headset is worth atleast $40.00 in my mind. This headset isnt built cheap, it has some weight to it, but it could have a little more thought into it.
Unlike most other BlueTooth headsets, the has only three buttons on it. This makes for very easy use and its very straight forward. The also has the volume up and down on different sides of the headset itself so its easy to know if your turning the volume up or down. One minor issue that I have with the FreeStyler 500 is that the volume doesn't go up as high as I would like it to. Also, when I turn it up to the maximum, people complain because it has a slight buzz, but if you keep it one level below full the buzz goes away. So make sure you keep that in mind and don't turn it up to the maximum volume unless necessary.
Included with the Soyo Group FreeStyler is a charger and two interchangeable ear pieces. One earpiece is just like a normal BlueTooth headset, and is reversable to be worn on your right or left ear. The other piece makes the FreeStyler into more of a lapel mic. I absolutely love this piece, because I really don't like bluetooth headsets on my ear, I find them to be heavy and uncomfortable. Another reason why I like it more is because the piece that goes into your ear is actually part of earbud headphones so I'm already used to and comfortable with wearing earbuds. One other reason why I like this attatchment so much is because when I play PS3 with headphones on, my Grenade X Boosted headphones let the earbud fit perfectly underneath the earcups.
The included charger works great and has a good length cord so you don't have to worry about it not reaching where you would like to store your headset to charge.
I think that's about all that I have to say on the FreeStyler 500 headset, I hope you found this useful, and if you did, or didn't, leave a comment telling me why or why not.

I got my Jabra BT125 Blue Tooth Headset with my copy of Warhawk back when I first got my PS3 and here's the review!
Overall the Jabra BT125 is a really solid and well performing headset especially for only $12.00! I would recommend the Jabra BT125 to anyone who doesn't mind wearing a Bluetooth headset on their ear.

First I'll start with the look of the Jabra headset. Out of the many headsets I've seen, I must say, the Jabra BT125 has a really sleek looking design and is easily one of the sexiest headsets I've come across. Although the design does nothing to improve the abilities of hte headset, the look does mean something and for the Jabra, the look is at its best!
The comfort level of the Jabra BT125 headset isn't the best. To be honest I really don't like the feel of many Bluetooth Headsets to begin with and Jabra could have put a little more thought into the comfort level of this bad boy. I found that after a while of using it, my ear would really start to hurt, but being as I was gaming, I ignored it until it turned from a sore ear into a throbbing headache. That was the main reason why I went out and bought the FreeStyler 500. I ended up sacrificing some quality and performance for the comfort, but that's just me.
The sound quality on the Jabra BT 125 is really quite amazing for a $12.00 mic. I found that I never had to turn the volume to the maximum and I could always hear clearly and from what others have told me, they could hear me clearly as well. I never got any complaints in game lobbies from anyone telling me that my mic was buzzing so there's no need to worry about that. As far as quality goes, this is probably among the best you'll find in the Jabra's price range.
Overall the Jabra BT125 is a solid headset and I really think it was very well designed. Again, the only negative thing was the comfort and that really kills this headset for me. If you're looking for a headset, I'd say this is a great option and for only $12.00 it's worth a shot!

Many Bluetooth headsets have the disadvantage of making you look a little silly.
The Invisio G5 is an attempt to address that by making the headset as small as possible.
It was easy to pair the device using the clear instructions in the manual. Call quality was fair – incoming sounds were fine, but outgoing sounds were muffled and sounded far away.
