*******SupremeMasterTV**** - Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine celebrates 25 years of promoting compassionate goals. John Salley - 4-time champion US National Basketball Association (NBA), Vegan (M): I’m John Salley. Be veg, go green, save the planet. Joely Fisher – Golden Globe-nominated actress, Vegan (F): Hi, I'm Joely Fisher. Be veg, go green, save the planet. VOICE: In a star-studded event, the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), a nonprofit organization promoting preventive medicine primarily through the plant-based diet, held their 25th Anniversary Gala, “The Art of Compassion,” in West Hollywood, California, USA. The gourmet vegan dinner event celebrated prominent doctors and noted individuals working together for ethical and effective medical practice, research and health. *******www.pcrm****/gala2010/index.cfm Supreme Master TV (F): This is Supreme Master Television from Los Angeles, California, USA. We’re at the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine's 25th Anniversary Gala: The Art of Compassion. Supreme Master TV (F): Congratulations on 25 years! Neal Barnard, M.D. – Founder and President, Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), USA, Vegan (M): Yes, well, thank you. Supreme Master TV (F): What growth have you seen in the health of America or health of the world? Neal Barnard, M.D. (M): When you look at kids, one in three is overweight. Another one in three will get diabetes; one in five has an abnormal cholesterol level. The good news is there are more people who are aware than ever before and are trying to eat in a better way. Plant-based diets are good for everybody and especially good for kids because it helps them stay slim and healthy. VOICE: Guests attending the veg-friendly gala included Hollywood stars, famous authors, and high-profile personages from government and media. Supreme Master TV (F): Why do you feel PCRM is important? Rory Friedman – Bestselling author on vegan diet, USA, Vegan (F): I think it's important for the public to know exactly what it is that they are eating and how it's affecting their health, and PCRM is a group that people can trust. These are all doctors who are getting this information out there, and registered dietitians and nutritionists. Marilu Henner - Actress and author of “Total Health Makeover”, 2010 Voice of Compassion Award, Vegan (F): They are the voice of reason. They speak with great authority and research and passion. Peggy McCay - Primetime Emmy Award-winning actress (F): Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine has made great progress. They've persuaded 150 labs not to use animals and that's good. Dr. Henry Heimlich - American physician, inventor of Heimlich maneuver (M): It’s both saving animals and saving humans. And they were very active in promoting the Heimlich Maneuver, which of course saves a lot of lives. VOICE: In addition to charity auctions, an awards ceremony was held to recognize extraordinary efforts in expanding compassion. The 2010 honorees, all of whom are vegan, were American cardiologist Dr. Baxter Montgomery; American actress and author Marilu Henner; American actress Alicia Silverstone; Australian actress Portia de Rossi, and American television personality and comedian Ellen DeGeneres, who accepted her award in person earlier this week. Throughout, the gala resonated the clear message that the vegan diet is key for a brighter future. Marilu Henner (F): Nothing tastes as good as healthy feels. Change your palate, change your life and you just have to learn to love the food that loves you. Francis Fisher – Hollywood actress, “Titanic”, Vegan (F): I do believe that animals have feelings and that we shouldn't be eating them or torturing them. Cloris Leachman - Academy Award-winning actress, Vegetarian (F): Once you don’t eat meat anymore, you can’t imagine how you could ever have done it. Supreme Master TV (F): This is Supreme Master Television from Los Angeles, California, USA. VOICE: Hats off Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, on 25 years of medical excellence while simultaneously raising awareness of the health-generating vegan fare. May everyone be similarly inspired to foster wholesome and elevated lives for all. Neal Barnard, M.D. (M): Hi, I’m Dr. Neal Barnard from Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. Hallo to all my friends from Supreme Master TV! Rory Friedman – Bestselling author on vegan diet, USA, Vegan (F): Hi, I'm Rory Friedman.
