The title of the film is drawn from the fact that Elser's bomb detonated in a venue that the Fuhrer had left just 13 minutes before. Through flashbacks we learn how Elser came to despise the Nazis and how he saw that Hitler needed to be removed to save Germany. We learn that following his arrest, Elser was kept in concentration camps for five years and was shot a few days before American forces liberated Dachau concentration camp (a few weeks before the war ended). Elser is now regarded a German resistance hero of the Second World War. It was screened out of competition at the 65th Berlin International Film Festival. It was one of eight films shortlisted by Germany to be their submission for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards, but it lost out to Labyrinth of Lies.

Miles Daly (Chris O'Dowd) loves his family but hates his job. His job is no ordinary job and his employer is dangerous. Luckily his job leads him to an idea that could be a new beginning for him and his family. The bad news is he may need his current employer to even begin his new venture which is a lot easier said then done. Lets just hope Amara (Lidia Porto) will be willing to go for it and that desperate Rick (Ray Romano) will be able to help him for more then just one reason Miles life may be on the line for it. Rick is a down and out producer that is at the bottom of the heap in the movie business and may not know the people he is getting in to business with. Miles Daly, a muscle man for a gang boss out in Nevada, who's seeking to win back his wife and daughter by getting out of his current line of work, travels with his partner to Los Angeles, on a routine job to collect on a debt for his boss, from a down on his luck screenwriter, comes across a script that inspires him, and eventually his partner, to give Hollywood, and the prospect of a different life, a shot.
