Explore the treacherous wastes of the Great Southwest from the safety and comfort of your very own vault: Meet new people, confront terrifying creatures, and arm yourself with the latest high-tech weaponry as you make a name for yourself on a thrilling new journey across the Mojave wasteland.
Welcome to Vegas. New Vegas.
It's the kind of town where you dig your own grave prior to being shot in the head and left for dead...and that's before things really get ugly. It's a town of dreamers and desperados being torn apart by warring factions vying for complete control of this desert oasis. It's a place where the right kind of person with the right kind of weaponry can really make a name for themselves, and make more than an enemy or two along the way.
As you battle your way across the heat-blasted Mojave Wasteland, the colossal Hoover Dam, and the neon drenched Vegas Strip, you'll be introduced to a colorful cast of characters, power-hungry factions, special weapons, mutated creatures and much more. Choose sides in the upcoming war or declare "winner takes all" and crown yourself the King of New Vegas in this follow-up to the 2008 videogame of the year, Fallout 3.
The Mike O'Callaghan – Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge for one day only allowed pedestrians to walk the Hoover Dam Bridge on October 16, 2010. People parked in designated areas on the Nevada side where double-decker buses waited to transport thousands of pedestrians to the Arizona side of the scenic bridge. Pedestrians walked across the engineering marvel which required years of diligent planning, more than five years of construction, and regretfully one fatality. Besides the military position on the neighboring mountains, TSA, and police officers on site, the organizers relied on the support of volunteers to usher the crowds and pass out memorabilia. The bridge named in honor of Mike O'Callaghan and Pat Tillman is positioned 890 feet above the diminishing water.

Originally called Boulder Dam, the Hoover Dam straddles the border of Arizona and Nevada. Construction began in 1933 and was completed two years later. Built with 3.2 million cubic yards of concrete, the dam is some 726 feet high, ranking 20th in the world for height. From 1939 to 1949 it was the worlds largest producer of hydroelectric power; today the dam generates some 4.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. Lake Mead, the reservoir created by the dam, covers 247 square miles and is a major recreation area.

HOOVER DAM CONSTRUCTION WITH BERT AND THE BABE. The arch is the current construction of the bypass for traffic diversion from the current Hoover Dam road that was proposed immediately after 9/11. It has been delayed due to a fierce wind storm that toppled the construction cranes and partly destroyed the bridge.
We sometimes hear it said that America doesn't build any great public works projects anymore. However true or untrue that may be, there's no denying the greatness of the structure of the Hoover Dam that's now celebrating its 75th anniversary. Susan Spencer reports.

Nice dam, huh?
You want to go first or should l?
-Are you hungry? -No.
-You shouldn't eat right now. -Why?
With the little money we have left, let's not waste it on knick-knacks here.
If that's your attitude, why don't you give me my half of the money...
...and you do whatever you want with your half. That's the fair thing.
"The fair thing"?
I can't believe it! That's it! I have been too controlled!
You took our nest egg and broke it all over the Desert lnn!
You filled up the casino with yolk. "The fair thing"! I was sleeping!
-Get it out. Fine. -Don't treat me like I'm an insane patient!
Let's go back inside. You can yell at me. But don't yell out here, okay?
Out here? Out where? We live here.
Get used to the cement, honey! This is our house! Forever!
This is it! We found ourselves.
We found ourselves in the middle of nowhere, with nothing!
Where are you going?
Please come inside.
MORE INFO http://bit.ly/C3maps 3D map of Hoover Dam based on incredible mapping tech from Swedish startup C3 Technologies. Based on declassified missile targeting technology from Swedish aerospace giant Saab, C3 maps can be rotated around because each individual pixel has depth information attached to it. 3D data is calculated directly from high-resolution aerial photography, based on the positions and angles of the cameras to give each pixel its geographical position with very high accuracy. C3 maps also sport interior panoramas of points of interest based on HDR imagery, with room navigation, 3D menus and banners, overview maps and other interactive features. There's also street-level imagery captured using an advanced multiple camera system with overlapping viewing angles to capture the entire surroundings in stereo.

It is NOT in Grand Canyon National Park, but is found at Grand Canyon West on the Hualapai Indian Reservation closer to Las Vegas and Hoover Dam.
