Great for cold days at big powder mountain resorts, The North Face Allure Jacket features plenty of 600-fill down for optimal comfort. We carried this women's jacket for a couple of seasons and found that the women who buy it are looking for breathable comfort over outright watertight weather performance--a skier who tends to look for the high and dry winter destinations. With the exception of color choices, this year's Allure Jacket version isn't that different, although The North Face did shave a handful of ounces off the design without cutting out features. The Allure's adjustable hood can be worn over most helmets or you can zip the whole thing off and stash it one of the many external and internal pockets. Inside you'll find plenty of extras like a goggle pouch and a zippered compartment for your MP3 music player or other portable electronics. The left sleeve has a zippered accessory pocket that's cleaner than the upper sleeve patch pockets found on the unisex jackets most guys wear. If warmth is everything and you prefer staying out of the rain, The North Face Allure Jacket is exactly what you need.

Ideal for serious mountaineering and winter trekking, The North Face Summit Jacket features exceptionally warm 800-fill goose down and PrimaLoft One insulation for complete comfort on the coldest pitches. The North Face designed this insulated climbing outerwear with a welded baffle design that eliminates down shift. Great for extreme cold and serious mountaineering, The North Face Summit Jacket offers high quality 800-fill goose down and PrimaLoft One insulation for amazing thermal performance. Welded baffles and key abrasion area reinforcements give the Summit Jacket better durability than other down jacket designs that use light fabric to reduce weight. This is tough outerwear for difficult weather conditions. The Summit Jacket has a fully adjustable and removable hood with single-hand cinchcords for easy fit refinements. You can stash the hood inside the internal stretch water bottle pocket or any of the other four available pockets. Velcro adjustable cuffs along the sleeves usually meet up perfectly with the gussets on most mountaineering gloves--provided that you pick the right size before your peak performance. Pair your Summit Jacket with The North Face Mountain Pant and you're good to go.

Readily recognized as one of the most successful (and best selling) jackets in The North Face outerwear collection, the Boundary Triclimate Jacket offers exceptional technical versatility with a removable quilted Heatseeker Triclimate jacket that can be worn separately in mild weather. Three isn't a crowd when everything integrates as nicely as this Men's Boundary Triclimate Jacket from The North Face. It's a three-in-one jacket that can be worn as an insulated, waterproof and breathable winter jacket or you can take out the insulated Heatseeker Triclimate insert and wear the jacket as a shell on those damp camping and hiking trips. The fully adjustable hood can be removed so you can wear the jacket with your skiing, climbing or snowboarding helmet. Jackets made by other companies often tout similar features, but The North Face designed their Boundary Triclimate Jacket with the stuff you need and use (pit zips beneath the shell sleeves) and none of the stuff you can't already work around (no headphone ports or radio pocket). The North Face Boundary Triclimate Jacket is all about practical functionality with complete weather protection. That's probably the big reason why this do-it-all jacket remains one of the most successful jacket designs ever produced by The North Face. One more note--if you're looking for similar jackets for your outdoor-oriented family, The North Face offers Boundary Triclimates for women, boys and girls, but remember to check out the bullet point features because there are small differences in features and fabrics for each model.

A great do-it-all fleece piece for any outdoor activity, the Men's Pumori Jacket from The North Face features midweight Polartec 200 Series fleece, making it ideal as a middle layer for skiing and as an outer layer for summer camping. If we had to make a list of indispensable items for year-round outdoor adventures, this Men's Pumori Jacket from The North Face would rank near the top. Some fleece is too thick for summer backpacking, other fleece is too thin for anything except middle layering, but the Pumori is just right with midweight Polartec 200 Series fleece. You can wear it as a middle layer in the winter (it is zip-in compatible and zips into other jackets made by The North Face--just remember to pick the same size) or wear it as outerwear on camping trips. The one thing that the Pumori Jacket doesn't have is the nylon reinforcement panels along the shoulders like the slightly heavier Denali Jackets by The North Face. That means that if you backpack or climb extensively with a pack, you may notice some pilling and wear along abrasion points beneath the straps.
Midweight warmth Polartec 200 Series fleece
Nylon reinforcement panel along the collar helps reduce pilling
Standard (not relaxed) fit layers well beneath shells (and is zip-in compatible with some jackets made by The North Face)
Two zippered hand pockets
Comfortable elastic bound cuffs hold sleeves in place
Hem cinchcord at waist to help seal out cold air

High-loft fleece insulation adds extra warmth to The North Face Womens Coterie Thermal Jacket and makes it an obvious choice for cold-weather winter activities. Its HyVent waterproof breathable shell keeps you dry on a backcountry ski tour, and the extra insulation keeps you toasty on a winter mountaineering trip. The North Face gave the Coterie Thermal Jacket pit zips to keep you from overheating when on a trail-breaking mission. It even has a removable hood to keep you from standing out like a sore thumb around town.
