BY ANDREW HOWARD ANCHOR JIM FLINK You're watching multisource entertainment news analysis from Newsy. Talk about timing. Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal - the directorial duo behind the academy award winning film “The Hurt Locker” -- -- are poised to cash in on the news of Osama Bin Laden’s death. The two have been working on a film tentatively titled “Kill Bin Laden” -- in the works BEFORE the Al Qaeda founder was actually killed. ENews reports - Bigelow’s indie film... “...takes its inspiration from a failed special-ops mission to take out the Al Qaeda leader and was looking to roll cameras sometime this year.” The question now - with a story we all know the ending to - is Bigelow’s film worth being made? The LA Times’ 24 Frames blog weighs in. “... the Bin Laden killing is one of the few post-9/11 military tales with a satisfying conclusion for American audiences. But it's also tough to make a story suspenseful when everyone on the planet knows how it ends.” Despite that - Bryan Singer, director of X-Men and Superman Returns, says... "I could see a kind of ‘All the President's Men,’ where we track moments of intelligence and how agents followed the trail... Just because we know how the story ends doesn't mean it can't be interesting...” One person excited for Bigelow’s film is movie critic Michael Sragow from the Baltimore Sun who says... “For all those who yearn for ‘granular detail’ about the hunt for and defeat of Bin Laden, this Bigelow-Boal collaboration can't come too soon.“ And for those who don’t want to wait - fear not. Showbiz Tonight explains -- the film could be released sooner than you think... ANCHOR: “Hollywood has been scrambling to fast-track and to figure out how they can capitalize on this moment.” As of now, Bigelow has declined to comment on the project but plans on a release to coincide with the 2013 Oscar race.
