After serving 2 years in Burma during WWII, Herman Leonard returned to Ohio University and earned his bachelor of fine arts degree in 1947. In 1993 Herman donated sixty-two of his iconic photographs to Ohio University, which are part of the school's Kennedy Museum of Art's permanent collection.
