On 1/26 I discontinued allowing auto-post comments because it was getting too difficult to monitor. Prior to that ALL NEGATIVE COMMENTS **WERE POSTED** IN THEIR ENTIRETY (and will continue to be) because I believe in the free debate of issues. That having been said, hate-based comments, personal attacks, obvious "Trolling" statements designed to start response wars, religious zealotry with condemnations to Hell, Purgatory, eternal damnation and the like do not qualify as negative comments--they are vitriol that adds nothing to intelligent discourse and were (and will continue to be) removed (together with the responses calling the original poster an idiot, etc.).
At the presentation of senior class awards (Class Clown, Most Likely to Succeed, etc.), an LGBT teen publicly announces during his acceptance speech for Class Actor award that he is an LGBT teen and is tired of acting as someone he's not on a daily basis. His classmates clearly approve. He still has six months left of school (as of January 2013).
"From Minnesota to Maryland, from the United States Senate to the NBA, it's clear we're reaching a turning point" in the fight for LGBT equality, President Obama told a group of gay rights advocates during a speech marking LGBT pride month. "We've become not just more accepting, we've become more loving as a country, as a people. Hearts and minds change with time; laws do too."
On Sunday, June 30th at around 11:45 PM, I was riding home on the Queens-bound F train following a day of LGBT Pride festivities. Two men were loudly making homophobic comments, such as "Today was a scary day for me. There were fags everywhere." When a group of queer youth got on the train, the men proceeded to harass them, stating that the teens made them want to puke and that they would be killed if they were in Iran. The first assailant then threatened to rape them, at which point I took out my phone to document the incident.
Seeing that he was being recorded, the first assailant lunged at me, violently grabbing my arms while trying to steal away my phone. One of the youth took the phone from me temporarily to protect it and told the assailant he shouldn't attack a woman. When the assailant threatened to punch me, I took the phone back and ran to the other side of the train to push the emergency button and alert the authorities. At this point the second assailant got up and came towards me, grabbing my body and hands to try and get the phone to destroy the evidence. I yelled and told him I was an attorney. An onlooker then got up and stood between the assailants and myself, and another person left to get the train conductor.
A group of people had gathered to stand up to the gay bashers. During this, the second assailant put his hand around the neck of a young queer woman. When the doors opened up at the Roosevelt Ave stop, both assailants fled. I followed them to the station exit while calling 911. One witness had overheard them saying they were on route to Jamaica; they're likely commuters who regularly take this route.
I uploaded the video to YouTube to see if anyone can identify these men. I was left with bruises and scratches from both assailants which I also documented. If anyone sees them or knows them personally, please contact the authorities. This was a hate crime. Anyone with information regarding the incident should contact the NYPD's Hate Crime Hotline at 212-335-3100 or the AVP through its hotline at 212-714-1141

Juno star Ellen Page comes out as gay and says she hopes to help others struggling with their sexuality
Ellen Page has revealed she is gay.
The 26-year-old Juno actress said she is 'sick of lying by omission' and made her announcement at the Human Rights Campaign's Time To THRIVE conference for LGBTQ [Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning] youth in Las Vegas on Friday.
In her speech, Ellen said she hoped her news would help others struggling with their sexuality, saying: 'I'm here today because I am gay. And because maybe I can make a difference.
'To help others have an easier and more hopeful time. Regardless, for me, I feel a personal obligation and a social responsibility.'
Time to THRIVE organiser Human Rights Campaign tweeted the news and wrote: 'Congratulations, EllenPage for taking the steps to live openly and come out as lesbian. #comingout #timetoTHRIVE (sic).'
Ellen admitted she has found it difficult to be herself since shooting to fame in 2007's Juno.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, she said: 'It's weird because here I am, an actress, representing - at least in some sense - an industry that places crushing standards on all of us.
'Not just young people, but everyone. Standards of beauty. Of a good life. Of success. Standards that, I hate to admit, have affected me.
'You have ideas planted in your head, thoughts you never had before, that tell you how you have to act, how you have to dress and who you have to be. I have been trying to push back, to be authentic, to follow my heart, but it can be hard.'
Ellen mentioned other stars who she sees as courageous for coming out and revealing their sexuality.
She cited football player Michael Sam, Orange Is the New Black star Laverne Cox, and lesbian identical twin musicians Tegan and Sara Quinn for being out and proud.
And it didn't take long for Page to inspire her celebrity pals, who eagerly tweeted their support for her brave move.
The Hollywood hunk tweeted: 'Props to EllenPage for helping so many people through their daily struggles by courageously leading by example and coming out on V Day!'
Tegan and Sara, whom Page mentioned by name in her speech echoed: 'Never underestimate the courage it takes to be yourself. Giant hugs to EllenPage.'
Oscar nominee Anna Kendrick had an enthusiastic reaction: 'Mad mad mad mad mad mad crazy love and praise for EllenPage today. Congrats to you, you light, talent, and beauty.'

Final Fantasy VII's cross dressing scene is one of the most memorable in gaming. But as I was analyzing it, I noticed a disturbing trend in how LGBT lifestyle is portrayed not just in this scene, but across gaming as a whole. So what does FFVII's drag scene teach us about the cross dressing community and about the gaming industry as a whole?
