Exclusive Footage Available as The London Eye Begins Its 183 Mile Journey To Be Upgraded The UK’s number one paid-for visitor attraction, and the world’s largest cantilevered observation wheel – The London Eye – has kicked off phase one of its recently announced £12.5 million upgrade, which hopes to ‘future proof’ the iconic landmark for years to come. Launched last night, the South Bank saw the removal of the first of the wheel’s 32 10 tonne capsules, which was unpinned from the observation wheel and then lowered onto a floating pontoon positioned underneath the tourist attraction. It then began the 183 mile journey to be upgraded in Worcester; travelling along the Thames and past other iconic London landmarks such as Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, the O2 Arena, and Tower Bridge. Each of the capsules, removed one at a time, will be taken to Tilbury Docks in Essex, where they will then be loaded onto a truck and travel the last leg of the journey by road, accompanied by an escort. A non-operational capsule will take position on the London Eye until the final capsule is returned. In the biggest investment since the attraction opened in 2000, the upgrade project will take place across the next three years, due for completion in time for the London 2012 Olympics. The upgrade will include adding four ceiling mounted screens and enhanced multi-media and Wi-Fi capabilities, enabling the capsule to provide music and on-screen visuals. The existing heating and ventilation system will also be upgraded to a more efficient, environmentally friendly system. Distributed by Tubemogul.

Team 2012 – comprising approximately 1200 athletes from 47 sports and disciplines, Olympic and Paralympic alike – has been officially launched at the London 2012 Olympic Stadium. Team 2012 is a groundbreaking partnership between the British Olympic and Paralympic Associations (BOA and BPA), the London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games (LOCOG), and UK Sport. The four bodies came together earlier this year to create this initiative for Olympic and Paralympic sponsors to get behind the nation’s top athletes aiming for London 2012 and beyond. The sponsorship deal from presenting partner Visa will see it named the main sponsor for the Olympic and Paralympic athletes, who will make up the Great Britain team for the London 2012 Games. The programme will sit alongside existing National Lottery and Government funding for Britain’s most promising athletes, and seeks to ensure that all sports and athletes with the potential to compete and win on the world stage, are properly resourced in the years leading up to the Games. På väg till tävlingen använder de sina Visakort för att köpa saker de behöver för att kunna tävla, och lyckas. Olympic Glory is one of a suite of London 2012-inspired musical pieces now available on iTunes on the Olympic Dreams album. This is the finale in which various themes presented in the album are revisited. It features a return of the Celtic Tin Whistle as a reminder of the host nation. Olympic Glory, with its multiple crescendoes, captures the essence of the games. The music is set to a synthetic fireworks and light display using Adobe Affect Effects, illuminating the London cityscape. This is a noncommissioned piece but would be great for use in promo and special interest features in game coverage or commercial spots.
