It’s the emancipation of Mimi…well, Mimi’s babies. Mariah Carey and husband Nick Cannon gave birth to twins – a boy and a girl. But the birth isn’t what’s grabbing headlines- it’s the babies’ names. Talk show host Wendy Wiliams helps explain.
“The little boy’s name is Moroccan Scott (LAUGHTER). Look, apparently at Mariah’s apartment, she’s got a room with Moroccan-themed décor, and that is allegedly the room where Nick asked her to marry him. His nickname will be Roc (LAUGHTER).”
As for the girl? Well she’ll be called Monroe – or “Roe” for short – after Mariah’s idol, Marilyn Monroe. A blogger for the Philadelphia Inquirer tries to find the upside for the Cannon kids.
“He … becomes the first child ever to be named after riad architecture … [and] Monroe Cannon … would be a great name for a fireballing lefty from Louisiana.”
It’s not like these out-of-the-box names were unexpected. As ITN asks, why can’t celebs just pick normal names?
“We are loving the Kardashian-style ‘M’-theme, but the jury’s still out on the actual names ... But, Mariah, what’s wrong with Martin, Margaret, Malcolm or Matilda? Don’t answer that, we already know. They’re just not showbiz enough.”
But as a Broward Palm Beach New Times writer points out, things could’ve been worse. A lot worse.
“I'd be pretty pissed if my parents named me after a room in their house or a pill-popping sex icon …[but] the award for the parent with the most ridiculous kids' names definitely goes to Frank Zappa with Moon Unit, Dweezil, Ahmet Emuukha Rodan, and Diva Thin Muffin Pigeen.”
And as Kathie Lee and Hoda show us, the wacky name trend’s just a celebrity thing- at least according to the Social Security Offices annual baby name survey.
HODA KOTB: “The most popular boys and girls names. OK so, let’s go- let’s start with the most popular baby names for girls. Number five is Ava.”
KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: “I love that name.”
HODA KOTB: “Four is Olivia.”
KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: “Beautiful.”
HODA KOTB: “Three is Emma.”
KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: “Lovely.”
KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: “Two is Sophia. And the number one name of all time for right now is Isabella.”
KATHIE LEE GIFFORD: “For the boys, number five is William. For number four, it’s Jayden. Although, Jayden’s also on one of the least liked, so it doesn’t make any sense. Number three is Michael, that’s been on forever since the archangel Michel, himself, I think. Ethan, which I like. And Jacob is- again? For like the twelfth year in a row or something like that, right?!”

Learn about Hyacinth Macaw Parrot
One of the most unique birds out there is the Hyacinth Macaw. This is Matilda right here. Hyacinths are the biggest of the Macaws, they are a protected species in the wild. They are rather difficult to come by, a baby costs around $10,000. They are very sweet, they're called the gentle giants because they have a real good personality, they are very easy going and generally pretty friendly with people. They need a very big cage, at least about 4 feet wide. They also need a good environment, play stand, lots of things to play with, lots of things to chew on. They also need macadamia nuts as part of their diet. In the wild they eat a lot of palm nuts, and the closest we can really come here in the States is macadamia nuts. They do need palm nuts or macadamia nuts in their diet.
Birds are pretty long lived. A bird like this can have a life expectancy of up to 50-60 years, maybe even longer. They don't usually live to their life expectancy, so I would say that an average age on a bird like this would be maybe 30-40 years.
Matilda is very unique because they are very difficult to breed. They are very gentle, pretty quiet. Although when they do make noise it is pretty loud. They don't, they're not real good talkers. When Matilda talks, she says, hello and everyone in the store kind of laughs because it sounds so strange. There are several different types of Blue Macaws although many of them have become extinct or are almost extinct in the wild, but there are a few birds that have this coloring. This is the Hyacinth Macaw.

NOT ALL LUCK IS BAD follows the ups and downs of the Stringer family from 1895 to 1913. Jane Stringer, dominant mother of three: Sarah - beautiful but empty headed, Laura -plain, serious, and Georgie - physically frail.
They live in Stratford, east London. Jane's widowed mother, Matilda, runs a successful dress business. She'd planned marriage for Jane to eligible Oliver Steadman. But Jane falls in love with George Stringer, a market porter. George often out of work, Sarah is left with Matilda, she lives the comfortable life. Laura takes care of Georgie. Londoners celebrate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee except the Stringers. Bailiffs put them in the workhouse. When Matilda dies, Jane realises how little she knew her. She 'disappears' and reappears in Brighton as the elegant Mrs Ellen Stapleton-Clarke, dazzling the Brighton set and for a while lives the life Matila had wanted to her.
