Wood welcomed her baby using a natural birthing technique, after she was inspired by Talk Show Host Ricki Lake's documentary, "The Business of Being Born." The film, which came out in 2008, helped her make the decision.
She got to the hospital at 4cm and the doctor popped her water. She had abnormally strong contractions and dilated from 4 cm to 10cm and pushed him out within LESS then 2 hours after showing up to the hospital. The doctors didn't have enough time to give her any anesthesia. Her IV didn't even have time to finish..... The contractions were so strong that baby was actually coming out of the birth canal and the babies head was completely out of her vagina before she even started pushing!
I could not have done this without the support of my amazing doula. She is preggo and vlogging! Go check her out:
Thanks so much for all the well wishes! I'm sorry if I'm not able to reply to all of them, but know that I read each and every comment!!
I hope to be back to vlogging soon, but it may be a while. I can't wait to share all the details (the good, the bad, the ugly) of natural childbirth. I also want to talk about my experience having a doula - teaser: it was freaking amazing ;)

You might think that this wasn’t typical of births, however for Shirley and her friends and family at Combes Farm this is a regular experience. I'm sure you'll agree that we can learn so many things from watching calm, gentle, natural births, even when the circumstances are not quite what you first perceived.
In this DadLabs video Daddy Clay and Daddy Brad discuss the five phrases Dads should never say in the labor and delivery room. These five phrases should be avoided at all cost during the birth of a baby. Starting with number 5, Is that normal? Never show fear in the delivery room, and always stay calm and collected with your pregnant wife. Number 4 is avoiding anything that involves my Mom says. While experiencing childbirth the last thing your wife wants to hear is any advise or anything to do with her mother-in-law. Number 3 is to ask, why is the birth in the metric system? Do the math yourself and keep irrellevant questions out of the birthing center. The number 2 things to avoid is saying "I'm not sure I'm ready for this." It's too late to make that decision, and the most important thing is to be supportive during the child birth process. The final thing, and most important to remember is to avoid saying anything like "toughen up" and/or "suck it up". Baby Delivery whether natural birth or through a cesarean section is a very difficult process. If you have any questions make sure to ask your doula or your midwife, and most of important be supportive through the pregnancy. Distributed by Tubemogul.

Pou Clar has a series of natural underground springs that maintain the water crystal clear and very cold. I did most of the filming and all the editing of this video, but I was also helped with filming and photography by my good Spanish friend Rafa Vidal. He took the photo that was use at the end of the video for the credits. Keep in mind that the dates are in the European format (Day/Month/Year)
Many women think that a natural birth is not having an epidural. Unfortunately, many women also believe that if they are not going to have an epidural they will have to endure much pain. This is not true if you have taken the Painless Childbirth Course
Robert Lauri's latest music video for the song "Sweet Milla," is full of beautiful imagery. This selection from Lauri's album, "Instrumental Compilation," is a soulful combination of picture and song. The smooth piano music is soothing and images of nature, birth and beauty evoke strong feelings of awe and inspiration. Much like Philip Glass' "Koyaanisqatsi," there is no defined story or plot here, but rather a series of moving images that fit the music perfectly and elicit raw emotions specific to the viewer. Lauri appropriately dedicates this video to the parents of the world.
