It was a slim chance that Nebraska's Prince Amukamara would slide to the Giants in the first round, and slim, too, that they'd get a chance at Marvin Austin in the second. See if that gave them the highest draft grade in the NFC East.

gamblerstelevision**** After a 7-9 record in 2006 expectations were high for the San Francisco 49'ers in 2007. Instead the team suffered their 5th consecutive losing season and an offense that produced the 32nd ranked scoring and passing offense in the league. This led to a 5-11 season and nearly cost 49'ers head coach Mike Nolan his job. Oddsmakers have set the 49'ers season win total at 6 games. When you handicap season win totals you must, I mean must look at the schedule. Schedule: A game you can circle for the 49'ers is their September 21st home date against Detroit. Mike Martz would like nothing better than to stick it up Lion coach Rod Marinelli for being the fall guy for Detroit in 2007 with his firing after last season. San Francisco must play the AFC East and get New England and the NY Jets at home and must travel to Miami and a tough trip to Buffalo in late November. The 49'ers are scheduled against the tough NFC East and that means road trips to Dallas and the NY Giants and home dates with Washington and Philadelphia. Also mixed in is a road game at the New Orleans Saints who will be an improved team. The 2008 schedule is a difficult one for the 49'ers. Offense: Quarterback Alex Smith begins his 4th NFL season with his 4th different offensive coordinator and system. Former St Louis Rams head coach and 2007 Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Mike Martz will run the Rams offense. Quarterbacks have improved under Martz such as Kurt Warner, Marc Bulger and even Jon Kitna last season. Martz is saying the right things about running back Frank Gore being the centerpiece of the offense. But last season Martz abandoned the run much to the disgust of his head coach Rod Marinelli which contributed to a 7-9 season and Martz' firing. Head coach Mike Nolan is a defensive minded coach and coupled with Martz offensive pass heavy system it just might create a volatile situation in the Bay area. Defensive minded coaches like their offenses to run the ball and control the clock but Martz is all about the big play. Nolan is facing a dilemma if his offensive coordinator chooses to abandon the run. Nolan could be handcuffed here because he is fighting for his job. Now Isaac Bruce comes over from the Rams to play wide receiver but he is 35 years old. Arnez Battle and Bryant Johnson really don't put much fear into opposing defenses. Jason Hill has good speed behind Bruce but was mired with injuries last season. This unit lacks a playmaker. Defense: Last season the 49'ers defense were on the field more than any other defensive unit in 2007. This season it could be more of the same with a Mike Martz quick scoring offense this season. When you have a Mike Martz offensive system your defense is going to be on the field quickly and you are going to need to be able to rotate players in out and out. Some of your starters are going to miss series to rest. Simply you need depth on defense. Fortunately the strength of this 49'ers team is their defense. Linebackers Patrick Willis was outstanding earning Defensive Rookie of the year last season. His battery mate Manny Lawson is coming off a torn ACL and we will see if he can still effectively chase down defenders against the run. The Niners lost 2 starters from last years defensive line and filled them with rookie first round pick Kentwan Balmer out of North Carolina and free agent Justin Smith from the Bengals. How well they develop backups will be the difference between a good or bad year for the defense. Based on the direction of this franchise over the past several seasons expect the worst. And now to my Selection: This is by far the weakest group of offensive talent Mike Martz has ever worked with. Unfortunately for 49'ers head coach Mike Nolan time isn't on his side. He needs to win now to keep his job and just barely survived the 2007 season. The 49'ers did little in the off season to give the offense the weapons to succeed and just a system change will not be enough in 2008. Poor Alex Smith. The guy has got to be totally confused entering his 4th year in the league under a 4th different offense. This is a franchise in chaos as they are breaking in a sixth offensive co-coordinator in 6 years. The schedule is brutal as well this season. Play San Francisco UNDER 6 wins for the 2008 season. Selection: UNDER 6 wins in 2008 Regular Season.

From *******GamblersTelevision**** Tony T Breaks down NFL Pro Football and offers his season win selection on the Pittsburgh Steelers on this edition of Tony Ts Sports Bets airing now on Gamblers Television. Tony T here from Gamblers Television covering the NFL “Vegas Style” all season long. The Pittsburgh Steelers won the AFC North last season with a 10-6 record but were eliminated in the playoffs by Jacksonville at home during wildcard weekend. The Steeler defense broke down during the final 5 games of last season by allowing an average of 29 points per game. Oddsmakers have set the projected season win total for the Steelers for the 2008 regular season at 9 wins. When you handicap season win totals you must, I mean must look at the schedule. Schedule: The Steelers have the toughest schedule in the NFL this season. 14 of their 16 opponents had winning records in 2007. Like the rest of the teams in their division the Steelers face the NFC East but must travel to the weakest teams in Washington and Philadelphia. They host both Dallas and the NY Giants. As division winners last season they must face first place San Diego and New England while the other 3 teams in their division wont face them. Two Monday night games are scheduled meaning a short week to prepare when facing Jacksonville and Indianapolis. How is this for scheduling from November 9th to December 7th they got in succession Indy, San Diego, Cincinnati, New England and Dallas. The Steelers need to get a good start to the season because wins late will be harder to come by. Offense: Big Ben Roethlisberger is coming off his first pro bowl season as he passed for 32 touchdowns last season. The Steelers locked up their starting quarterback by giving him at $102 million dollar contract for the next 8 years. The offensive line must do a better job of protecting him as Big Ben was sacked 47 times last season. They will be without Pro Bowl guard Alan Faneca who was lost through free agency. Running back Willie Parker had a good season rushing for over 1300 yards last season. He suffered a broken leg, which forced the talented runner to miss the last two games of the season. Parker showed no ill effect of the injury during mini camps. The Steelers added depth at the running back position by drafting Rashard Mendenhall in the first round. Hines Wards lead a talented receiving corps and a new addition will be 6-4 Limas Sweed who was drafted in the second round out of Texas. The Steelers added size in their receiving corps and will help them in critical third down plays as well as red zone throws. Heath Miller returns at tight end and his 6-5 height contributed to 7 touchdown receptions last season. The Steelers have talented playmakers on offense. 10 of 11 starters return for the Steelers potent offense from last season. The Steelers will put up plenty of points in 2008. Defense: Pittsburgh returns 10 starters from the #1 total defense from last season. Safety Troy Polamalu was stricken with a knee injury in 2007 that forced the talented safety to miss games. Polamalu could return to his good form with a healthy 2008 and makes a huge impact for the Steelers. I felt Polamalu’s health was part of the cause for the Steelers defensive breakdown late last season. They run the 3-4 and have a talented down lineman who can stop the run and set up plays for their linebackers. The defense also does a good job of creating turnovers. And now to my Selection: The Pittsburgh Steelers are loaded with talent on the offensive side of the ball. With Mendenhall coming in the draft it sets up 4th quarter situations where the Steelers can run out the clock on the ground with two good backs and will set up play action in the most critical points of the game. I think for this reason the Steelers have a good shot at sweeping the Bengals and Browns again because neither possesses a good defense. The Steelers will go 5-1 in the division this season and we need to find 5 more wins to get to 10. With the NY Giants getting a bit weaker on defense they will go 3-1 against the NFC East this season. They have Houston at home in week 1 which is a winnable game. We just need 1 win against the Colts, Chargers, Patriots, Titans or Jaguars to get to 10. With a really tough schedule this Steeler team will get to 10 wins. This team has 13-3 or 14-2 talent but with this difficult schedule will go 10-6. Play Pittsburgh over 9 wins this season. Play OVER 9 wins for the 2008 season. Selection: Over 9 wins in 2008 Regular Season. Be sure to visit and bookmark my TV Show page at www.GamblersTelevision**** for continues pointspread coverage from the NFL.
