BY ALISON SCHUTZ ANCHOR ALISON SCHUTZ You're watching multisource US video news analysis from Newsy. First Amendment right? Or just plain wrong? The author of a book on pedophilia pleads no contest to the court and walks away with mere probation. People are talkin’ - is he being punished for free speech or let off too lightly? Let’s look back at the details... “Condoms aren’t necessary with children if you’re disease-free... that's just one point made in the controversial e-book ‘The Pedophile’s Guide to Love and Pleasure: a Child-lover’s Code of Conduct.’ The author, Philip R. Greaves II, says pedophiles aren’t all rapists and murderers.” “The man behind the ‘Guide’ has now been arrested on obscenity charges.” According to CNN, a Florida sheriff applied the state’s anti-obscenity law to the case and had Philip Greaves, who lived in Colorado, arrested. As he was leaving jail he told a reporter he still backs his book, saying: “I don’t think I did anything wrong... It backfired on me.” After three and a half months in jail, Greaves was sentenced to just two years probation and doesn’t have to register as a sex offender... which a Westword blogger says makes sense. “There's no evidence at this point that he acted on his putrid impulses. That's usually a prerequisite to sentencing, but not in this case.” But an Orlando Weekly writer quotes a lawyer who says the Florida system did Greaves wrong. “Unfortunately, the Sheriff and the State Attorney were able to manipulate the system in such a way so as to keep Mr. Greaves in jail long enough so that a guilty plea to a felony appeared to be a good option. The First Amendment violations occasioned by this arrest and prosecution will go unaddressed, as many have been in the last two decades in Polk County, Florida.” A Gather blogger says freedom of speech may come into play, but it doesn’t give Greaves a free pass. “What on earth gives in this situation? The man is clearly a danger to children if he wrote a pedophile guide that included instructions on committing heinous sexual acts. It is unfathomable that he is getting off with a mere slap on the wrist.” Tampa’s WFLA caught up with Greaves as he was checking out of jail. The author says, his career may not be over yet. “Philip Greaves was rather chatty when he walked out of jail today. Greaves told us he plans to write again, but he’ll keep the obscene stuff out this time.” Newschief**** reports Greaves testified he is receiving treatment for bipolar disorder. The judge insisted he continue mental health counseling as part of his probation. Transcript by Newsy.

BY MIRANDA WHEATLEY ANCHOR ALEX ROZIER You're watching multisource world video news analysis from Newsy. Nobody said the road to sainthood would be easy. Father Edward Beck tells MSNBC if anyone deserves the fast track it’s Pope John Paul II. “You know what, he is the Saint making Pope. He made 483 Saints canonized during his papacy. That’s more than all of his predecessors. All of them combined.” On May 1 the late Pope John Paul II’s beatification ceremonies will begin in Rome bringing him one step closer to sainthood. (ABC) It was under Pope John Paul II that the requirements for sainthood changed and now he’s on the fastest track yet to becoming a saint. While some are singing praise for the Catholic Church’s new route to sainthood - it still is facing some fierce critics. “If there’s any dignity left in the Catholic Church, the beatification of Pope John Paul II, … should have followed the church’s strict guidelines for sainthood instead of fast tracking it as a political move to continue the silence of the Church’s pedophile scandal.” (NewsPress) The road to sainthood was altered in 1983 and according to NPR the changes were significant. “Under Pope John Paul II, it was relatively easy to attain sainthood. … the late pope made the process quicker, easier - the number of miracles required dropped from two to one - and less adversarial because he eliminated the office of the "Devil's Advocate" at the Vatican. Thus John Paul produced more saints than all the popes in the previous 500 years." He already has two miracles to his credit, a French nun who claims her Parkinson’s disappeared after praying to Pope John Paul II and a man from Massachusetts who credits the late Pope for his ability to walk again. “This French nun vows she was cured by the late Pope now has brought him his beatification. ‘Look at my hands,’ she says, ‘they’re no longer shaking.’ ... Joe says he then prayed hard to his spiritual healer Pope John Paul the second. ... I happened to look at the picture of Pope John Paul II and I just got up. You just got up after years of not being able to walk?” (ABC) Because both miracles occurred before beatification he still has one more to go to reach Sainthood. But proving a miracle is a lengthy process and hundreds of submissions involving the late Pope didn’t make the cut. A writer for the Huffington Post - and a critic of the fast track to sainthood, says the overall decision needs a second look. “Sainthood, fundamentally, should be black and white. While no supporter of a saintly candidate can claim the contender lived a pristine life, they must make the case that all of their earthly contributions helped people -- and that they did nothing to potentially hurt people." Crowds of more than 300,000 are expected at the beatification services and a vial of Pope John Paul II’s blood will be used as the relic for veneration and placed in a church in the pope’s native country, Poland after the ceremony. In AZ's most embarrassing Mexican border town the citizens don't get much in the way of candidate choices. In the race for County Attorney (that person responsible for prosecuting child molesters) the citizens get to choose between and man so corrupt he refused to prosecute a cop who raped a young girl inside her house while on duty and an actual pedophile. Maybe that is why they call it CHOMO COUNTY, AZ.

Anyone who wants to "name call", "bash", or "insult", will have their comments deleted. We did NOT go to Angeles to get laid, have sex, or take advantage of underage girls. My gf and I went there together as a couple, and simply wanted to leave Manila for a few days, and check out some other places. Angeles obviously is internationally known. Why not look around? We both relaxed around the pool for a couple days. Met up with some friends who live nearby, partied a little, and checked out some of the bars. We never did anything that "you can't do in the states", we are NOT pedophiles, and we didn't have sex with anyone. ...so for any idiots out there who want to criticize ...save ur moral outrage for someone else ...u don't even know what ur talking about. Thank you
