Spring may be a-comin' in, but the darkness is also coming in video #52 - a trailer for CITY OF HEROES' Issue 22: Death Incarnate!
From the moment I saw the concept art and original screenshots at the CITY OF HEROES: FREEDOM Player Summit last November, I knew I had to do a trailer for this one. Even from those few hints, I could tell this issue was going to be something special... and it is!
"Death Incarnate" takes us back to a zone rich in lore and possibilities - Dark Astoria. From the perpetual night that shrouds the place to the abandoned vehicles and buildings, from the gothic majesty of Moth Cemetery to the ghosts that wandered in unending purgatory, it was a zone that players on both sides begged to see more of. And now they will... in ways they never dreamed possible. This issue brings several new contacts and story arcs, plus repeatable missions, and an Incarnate-level Trial, all in a Dark Astoria that is on the brink of being consumed by a dark god...
And that's not all! To fight the darkness, sometimes one must become the darkness - and Issue 22 gives us Darkness Control! Proliferated now to more archetypes, heroes and villains alike can channel the depths of the Netherworld in furtherance of their goals, however noble or vile they may be.
(Astute viewers will notice a few other little hints and Easter eggs in here about Things to Come! That's right... additional features will be implemented shortly after Issue 22's release that you might catch a glimpse of here!)
But this return to Dark Astoria needed music that was up to the task. Enter composer Thomas Vo, whose creation "In Ruins" beautifully showcases all that is bright and dark in "Death Incarnate", from Paragon City struggling to accept the loss of two of its most well-loved heroes, to the desperate battle to contain the evil poised to destroy Dark Astoria and everything along with it. (Visit Thomas' website at *******www.thomasvomusic**** for more information.)
Like my other videos, this one is tagged as Samuraiko Productions, for those who follow my work. Enjoy!
