Went out and bought the grypton portable tripod and am very impressed with it. Will use it from now on when taking video in the car.

UR the Spokesperson campaign empowers teens to
WASHINGTON, DC / PRNewswire / - Car crashes are the number one killer of teens in the U.S. and The Advertising Council wants to put the brakes on this alarming situation. In partnership with a coalition of state Attorneys General and consumer protection agencies, SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) and AAA (American Automobile Association), the organization launched the UR the Spokesperson campaign today to save lives by reducing youth reckless driving.
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) data show that, on average, more than 300,000 teens are injured in car crashes each year, nearly 8,000 are involved in fatal crashes and more than 3,500 are killed. NHTSA research also shows that teen drivers are involved in more than five times as many fatal crashes as adults. Young drivers are more likely to speed, run red lights, make illegal turns, and die in an SUV rollover.
With the message "Speak Up," the UR the Spokesperson campaign targets young adults between the ages of 15 and 21 and encourages them to be the spokesperson against reckless driving by empowering them to speak up when they are in the car with friends and don't feel safe. The campaign also seeks to increase awareness about the dangers of reckless driving and educate teens on how to be safe drivers by focusing on safe speeds, avoiding distractions, wearing seat belts, and the differences associated with driving SUVs. AAA will be assisting the Ad Council in these efforts nationwide through its clubs and SADD will be helping to spread the message by reaching out to its 350,000 student members.
"This is a vital campaign that will empower teens to speak up when they feel their safety is threatened," said General Thurbert Baker, Attorney General of Georgia. "Too often teens are worried about their reputation and that they won't be 'cool' if they speak up. But they need to because it could be a matter of life and death."
Research shows that teen drivers may be more likely to listen to their friends than to adults, which is why the UR the Spokesperson campaign is using a peer-to-peer approach. When it is a friend who speaks up, a young driver will listen because they don't want to damage the friendship or be labeled a bad driver.
"We want it to become not only socially acceptable, but socially expected for teens to speak up when they are riding with a friend and don't feel safe," said Peggy Conlon, President and CEO of the Ad Council. "We also want to educate them about the dangers and consequences of reckless driving by reminding them to drive safely, wear their seat belts and limit distractions."
The UR the Spokesperson campaign includes a series of public service advertisements (PSAs), a new Web site and a soon-to-be launched contest. Created pro bono by North Castle, a Stamford-based advertising agency that specializes in reaching teens, the PSAs feature a stereotypical, smarmy, over-the-top spokesperson who appears in the car to deliver safe driving tips. The ads conclude with the message "There is no spokesperson to prevent reckless driving. There's only you. Speak up." Our Highly Experienced and fully Accredited Driving Instructors are experts in teaching Learner Drivers not only to pass their RTA NSW Driving Test but also to become safe and courteous motorists.
There is so much more to Driving Lessons than just preparing to pass a NSW Driving Test. Being taught to drive properly puts in place a set of rules and practices which most of us continue throughout our entire driving careers.
Good drivers are made, not born and we see it as our responsibility as Driving Instructors is to train drivers to become aware of their responsibilities as motorists and learn the art of safe economical driving, our Driving Courses make sure to teach you good Driving habits. We believe that most road accidents can be avoided if drivers adhered to safe driving practices. Unfortunately many young drivers have never been taught properly and as a result we see a disproportionate number of road accidents, injuries and fatalities involving drivers aged between 17 and 25.
At Safe2Go Lessons a Driving School in Sydney, we make it our business to teach you how to become a good safe driver. We also ensure that you are more than ready to take your RTA NSW Driving Test.

Okay, I've blown up the image a little. Here's the room next to Cosmo's.
Now it's the end of the day. Watch who comes out.
Let me zoom in on the front door.
A lady in a green skirt...
and this guy with the cap.
Nobody comes out for another 18 minutes.
So it's one of those two.
Here's the next evening. Again...
the office next to Cosmo's. Lights go out.
The guy in the cap. Anybody else?
Nobody else comes out for 22 minutes. That's who works next door.
We'll use his office to get into Cosmo's. Can we get plates?
Let me see.
Another bump. Enhancing.
There's your plate. 180 I.Q.
Cute. All right, Carl, let's do this guy.
His name's Werner Brandes.
Single, 6'1", 174 pounds, must wear glasses to drive...
no outstanding tickets or warrants.
He leaves work between 6:00 and 7:00 every night...
takes the same route home; he obeys the speed limit...
comes to a complete stop at every stop sign and signals when he changes lanes.
He's a very safe driver.
$750 limit on his Visa, pays his bills.
No bad debts, no bum checks.
No firearms. Member, International Microchip Designers Association...
and chairman of the social committee.
Great. The world's most boring human.
How the hell are we going to get close enough to record him?
Sorry, Liz. Standard procedure. Trash from the guy's house.
And thank you for bringing it into mine.

Hey, babe, relax. She'll be back when she gets back.
Quit telling me to relax. Okay?
What the fuck?
Wow. Funny how someone conveniently forgot to tell me
that they were driving home on a motorcycle.
Do you know how many people I've seen come into the hospital paralyzed
from motorcycle accidents?
I'm a very safe driver, Nic.
Yeah, that is so not the point that I'm making, Paul.
Joni knows that this is something I'd just never allow.
Mom, I'm 18 years old.
I won't even be living here in, like, a month.
Yeah, well, you're living here now. Yeah?
Well, why don't you get a jump on it and pretend like I'm not?
She's never talked to me like that before.
You know, if you backed off a little bit on the restrictions,
you probably wouldn't have so much conflict.
Oh, really? You think so, Paul? Is that how it works?
What's going on?
Oh, nothing. Nothing.
Paul's just giving me some child-rearing lessons.
I'm just saying...
Listen, when you've been a parent for 18 years, you come and talk to me, okay?
I'm just making an observation.
Yeah? Well, I need your observations like I need a dick in my ass!
The footage, filmed on a dashboard camera in South Korea, shows how even safe drivers can find themselves caught in a fatal crash.
This crash was apparently caused by a driver in a white Hyundai Azera, who is believed to have blacked out after hitting a car in another accident which happened off camera.
The unconscious driver's car then continued down a hill onto the highway where it ploughed into the truck.
Three people in the Azera died, while the truck driver was left in critical condition and a couple inside the car with the dashboard camera both suffered minor injuries.
Australia, NSW Highway Patrol spokesman inspector Phillip Brooks said the brutal accident showed some highway crashes were simply unavoidable.
"I guess it's one of those classic vehicle going the wrong way type situations ... it left the other vehicles with little choice but to be involved in that collision," Mr Brooks told ninemsn.
"There is no opportunity [to escape some accidents], it is unavoidable in some situations," he said.
Mr Brooks said drivers needed to remain alert when driving on highways, stay at a reasonable speed and allow for breaking distance.
"It is very easy to become complacent based on normal trip routes and the myriad of driver distractions that are now about i.e. GPS and in-car systems, iPods and mobile phones," he said.
"Drive with the conditions, if it's night time, if there's fog, heavy traffic — you need to know the situation around you and be able to respond."
Part of the revolutionary LD System of learning to drive from LDC. This video shows the key points you need to learn in preparation for the driving lesson on Getting Moving. The video is used in conjunction with the LDC driving skills workbook. These resources together with guidance from an expert LDC driving instructor provide one of the most effective and efficient ways to learn to drive and become a safe driver for life. This driving lesson includes the controls, cockpit drill, moving off and stopping.
If you want to see this approach in practice view the videos in the playlists entitled "Student centred learning" where Bob Morton supports Bobby-Jo as she learns to drive.
Too many driving instructors focus too much attention on telling their pupils what to do and what to think! This approach only fosters dependency, doubt and blind obedience, such that once the test is passed they do all the things they were told not to do. The LDC approach is designed to foster self-reliance, confidence and responsibility resulting in safer drivers who learn to drive far more quickly and thoroughly.
Unlike traditional instruction LDC heavily promotes student centred learning. This involves the student being encouraged to take more responsibility for their own development by using the LD System materials before and after each lesson and by using discovery learning with self determination and reflection rather than being told what to do by the instructor. In particular talk through instruction, prompted practice and long winded explanations are avoided, if at all possible - instead encouraging the student to work it out for themselves.
