shazap**** This issue runs parallel with the first issue of secret invasion and explains what happened when Sue Storm blew up the Baxter Building. It starts off with a prologue that explains how the invisible woman was captured by a skrull posing as her husband. As this is going on the “he loves you” attack we witnessed in secret invasion #1 is being carried out by another skrull. It’s really quite geneouse knowing that it would attract too much attention and come with too much risk to try and kill the fantastic four directly they neutralized the members as well as their technology (possibly their greatest weapon) by transporting the whole damn thing to the n-zone. The real twist comes as Johnny figures out that hhis sister is an imposter and she reveals herself to be Johnny’s old skrully flame, forgive me I couldn’t resist, Lyja. Marvel is doing a really good job of showing that backstory of the invasion as it relates to current events and this looks to be a great mini series. For the next two issues we’ve got Johnny, Ben, the kids trapped in the Baxter building with a Skrull and a grip of N-zone monsters. We’re in store for some excitement.

This limited series is definitely going on the pass list. I got it mostly because of Jackpot on the cover. I loved the addition of her to Spiderman’s world and they really left it on a wide open note. I was hoping to get a bit more about her but it doesn’t look like that is going to be the case. It’s just a fight between a sinister 6 super Skrull and the Spidey supporting cast. Not very interesting and with secret invasion already plunging so deep into the wallet it’s not worth it. Let this one go you don’t need it. Distributed by Tubemogul.

shazap**** This is such a good series with tons of mystery and intrigue. Where we stood after the first issue was with the avengers out in the savage land with a cast and crew of other heroes climbing out of a skrull space ship, an orchestrated attack by skrull imposters on the earth’s technology centers including the Baxter building, shield, sword, and Stark Enterprises. And the Skrull armada standing at earth’s door. In this issue the tension breaks in the savage land and the heroes begin fighting until a T-rex comes along and answers a few questions. The Spidey who came on the ship gets crushed and it is revealed that he is a skrull. The same goes for Hawkeye. but it appears that not everyone is a skrull as Mockingbird reveals some info that only the human mockingbird would no. Just when we thought we were going to narrow down the captain America thing she goes and vouches for this one. The real mess is in new york though as a squad of super powered skrulls land and start reeking havoc in the city. We’ve got the classic fantastic four skrull, a wolverine / Cyclops skrull even an arch angel and a grip more I can’t wait for the battle next month. This event is great and only getting better.

Now this story is picking back up again. Mr. Fantastic gets going and shows us why he’s such a bad ass. It’s not often that we see him lash out physically and we forget how powerfully he is in that respect because he more often than not fights with his mind. Nick Fury’s troops still didn’t do much bet they are gearing up fro the big counter attack and the suspense is killing me. Maria Hill has finally struck back and taken a few Skrulls down before going off to join the resistance, but the real excitement is in the savage land when Reed Richards lands with his new toy that reveals the Skrulls for what they are. With that in earth’s arsenal there’s no holding back. The mistrust and doubt will be gone and the heroes will be free in knowing exactly who the enemy is. We get to see a bit of just how bad this attack is and the pain it causes as three of the heroes on the Savage Land are forced to face off against Skrull versions of their wives. This attack and the mistrust strike everywhere and can cut very deep. Three more issues to go and I can’t wait. Distributed by Tubemogul.

This is one of the spin off mini’s, and while I’m usually not into the extras I got this one because we rarely get to see the Inhumans in a featured role and they are an interesting people. The method of story telling in this book is fantastic. By focusing on Karnak, whose ability it is to sense weakness, it also showcases the strength of the Inhumans. Their greatest strength is their family and the faltering of that bond is their greatest weakness. This of course plays right into the Skrull’s attack which is to create mistrust and doubt so their attack strikes deep when they find that the greatest of all, Blackbolt was a Skrull. At the end of this issue all hell brakes loose as the Skrulls reveal themselves in a full on frontal assault so you know there is some great action to come. The fate of Blackbolt is a great twist and I’m excited to see how he’s going to get out of it. Is this book a must read? Not really. If you can’t get enough of the Skrulls or have been dying for more Inhumans than you’ll really like this one. Distributed by Tubemogul.

Welcome back zappers, Im Devin Curry with *******Shazap****. Your online video source for comic book news and reviews. Follow me on Twitter at *******twitter****/devincurry. This series started strong but has fizzled as of late. There was so much depth to this story within marvel continuity that it made this story very intriguing. The problem is that marvel started focusing on the depth and not the story. Rather than moving the story forward they continued looking back not even at how they got there but just what was going on behind what we thought we knew. There was also not a lot to the story basically all they have is the skrull invasion and the earth's counter attack. They haven't filled the gaps with anything but Fury's new recruits but they didn't make that very interesting. I would have liked to have seen more of the regrouping and planning for how to strike back. I wanted to hear how the heroes feel about some of their friends and loved ones turning out to be Skrulls and how their dealing with it. I just don't feel that marvel went deep enough int this story and have let us all down. The final battle looks exciting but I don't know if it will be enough to make up for the lack of story Distributed by Tubemogul.

Wow this is a great story issue that shows us just how far back the Scrull invasion really goes. It follows Nick Fury from the time of the Secret War until present. You know at the time I read the Secret War and thought it was OK but didn’t really think much of it. Now I’m glad I did and it’s crazy getting to see how much of it is coming back now. I’m going to have to dive into the old boxes and dig those issues out. This issue gives a little more weight to the introduction of the invasion and shows us just how wide spread it really is. This is the return of Nick Fury and we see that while he’s been gone he’s been working on piecing together the tactics of the invasion. This is definitely a wow moment where the house of ideas really shows off their planning and the intricacy of their universe. It’s a great read and worth checking out. While the secret invasion isn’t getting as much hype as DC’s major summer event it has already paid out more in it’s first two weeks than countdown has since it’s launch.

I can not believe the intricacy of this story. Every issue that comes from the secret invasion reveals more of marvel history and continuity that is wrapped up in this arch. I just happened to go back this weekend and reread the beginning of the new avengers series that involved the savage land stuff that came into play this issue and that it was the skrulls that were mining the vibranium. I was like “of course it was them”. It’s great that Ka Zar and the savage land crew have even been playing a part in this it. Marvel really is including all of its’ universe. They leave us with a great cliff hanger as Captain America busts through the trees ready to take out the savage landers. Now, if Cap is a Skrull, of course he wants to take out Ka Zar, but he’s also been vouched for. Who knows.

shazap**** So since this series is called the trinity I figured I should give it at least till the third week before I made my final judgment on it. This week marked the third week and so here it is. Boring, meaningless, lame, unimportant and whatever else says lame. DC is so caught up on the C and D listers that even in a series about the big three they still manage to make it more about the supporting cast than their stars. It worked once with the villains united title but I haven’t been a fan since. This story just seams so surface and transparent especially when put up against secret invasion and some of the things going on at marvel. It’s funny because I am more a fan of the DC characters on a whole than I am of marvel, but I don’t like how they tell their stories. Marvel is doing a better job, especially with their major events.

Welcome back zappers, Im Devin Curry with *******Shazap****. Your online video source for comic book news and reviews. This book takes a pretty big step back in the time line. It takes place on the day of the invasion. It follows the character of the crusader who is a skrull that has chosen to betray his people and live his life as a human. It is an interesting back story for the character and a pretty compelling look at the decision of where to put his loyalty but like most of the Secret Invasion tie ins it is pretty insignificant. They also make it look in the end of the book that the earthlings are starting to win the fight when we know from the other books that the opposite was true and Nick Fury had to show up and get a bunch of people out of there to regroup. The only cross over that I’ve found to be worth while and really necessary to the story is the New Avengers book because it actually has a unique story that is moving forward. I did enjoy the Run Aways/Young Avengers book but it is not essential to the story. If you’re into the initiative and the characters of that story then you’ll probably enjoy this one but if not it can definitely stay on the shelf.

Welcome back zappers, Im Devin Curry with *******Shazap****. Your online video source for comic book news and reviews. Follow me on Twitter at *******twitter****/devincurry. Moonknigt has always been a pretty badass character and they’ve done a good job with bringing him back. This month his book takes off in a new direction as he gets the Thunderbolts sent after him. If you haven’t been reading the title don’t worry the handy dandy summary conveniently placed at the beginning of each book will get you caught up to where you need to be. There is some good action here but this issue is mostly a set up of what’s to come. As a dark character going up against even darker men, there aught to be some really good action and story to follow. I’m curious as to what Tony Stark’s involvement will be because while he is hunting Moonknight, he doesn’t agree with the Thunderbolts being sent in. Norman Osborn is also intriguing. In the last Secret Invasion title he seemed to be showing some of his humanity as he helped Captain Marvel, but between this and the Spiderman book that came out this weekend old Normy seems to be embracing that darker side again and I’m wondering how far it will go. Welcome back zappers, Im Devin Curry with *******Shazap****. Your online video source for comic book news and reviews. Follow me on Twitter at *******twitter****/devincurry. Wow this was a good issue. So this issue has been going back to give us insight on what the Skrulls are doing and how they managed to do it. This issue tells us where it all began. It starts out with an illuminati meeting skrull made clones, which makes me wonder if any of the illuminati series was actually the earth heroes or if it was just clones, and one of the Skrulls realized that Reed Richards alone held the key to the human’s destruction. This makes a couple of things very clear. One, why the skrulls kept Reed alive after capturing him and why they needed to get into his brain so badly in the last issue of the Secret Invasion Title. They had the formula but didn’t truly understand it. It also explains why he was able to figure out how they were disguising themselves and make the weapon that revealed them. He was simply undoing his own work. What’s most intriguing however is at the end when it says next time “house of M” what role did the skrulls play in that? It’s going to be crazy.
