As millions of young adults head for popular hotspots this month, it’s crucial to remember that the motto “what happens on Spring Break stays on Spring Break” doesn’t always ring true. Risky behavior can lead to serious health issues, such as sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) or an unintended pregnancy. Produced by On The Scene Productions

The intrauterine device (IUD) is an effective contraceptive for many women. The copper-releasing IUD can be used for 10 years before replacement and is a good choice for women who cannot, or choose not to, use hormone-releasing contraceptives. However, some women experience an increase in menstrual blood loss and dysmenorrhea. The progestin-releasing IUD can be used for five years. It may reduce menorrhagia and dysmenorrhea, although some women have increased spotting and bleeding during the first months after insertion. The ideal candidates for IUD use are parous women in stable, monogamous relationships. Pregnancy, unexplained vaginal bleeding, and a lifestyle placing the woman at risk for sexually transmitted diseases are contraindications to IUD use. Insertion of the IUD can take place at any time during the menstrual cycle provided the woman is not pregnant. Before insertion, a bimanual examination and a sounding of the uterus are necessary to determine the uterus position and the depth of the uterine cavity. The IUD is inserted into the uterus according to individual protocols, with the threads cut at a length to allow the patient to check the device's position. Expulsion may occur with both types of IUDs.

Http://Www.YeastInfectionCure101.Com/ This article is meant to help people better understand what a yeast infection is and how to get rid of those uncomfortable and nasty symptoms as quickly as possible. There is a fungus that lives naturally in the body and usually it doesn%U2019t cause any troubles because its quantity is regulated by a good bacteria also living there, and by the acidity level of the vagina. When that level decreases in either case, the fungus can multiply and lead to an infection. The fungus is called Candida Albicans. There are several things can cause this multiplying such as birth control pills, antibiotics, steroids, poor diet, weak immunity, alcohol to name a few. It is not a sexually transmitted disease though.

BY LIZ REED You're watching multisource health news analysis from Newsy Dentists and doctors are warning -- think twice before gettin’ down. A new study suggests oral sex is the leading cause of oral cancer in non-smoking men in the U.S.. But how does sex lead to cancer? It’s a nasty sexually transmitted virus called HPV. Right now, about 20 million Americans have HPV, but because many never see symptoms, many don’t know they have it. KDSK breaks it down: Repoter: “When an HPV infection doesn't clear, or you're exposed multiple times by multiple partners, some people will go on to develop genital warts, or even cancer. Doctor: "The more times you are exposed, the greater the chance that you may develop cancer, just from a probability statement." KOIN identifies teen sexual attitudes as the source of the rapid spread. One dentist tells them if society doesn’t change, we’ll be dealing with a pandemic. Reporter: “Many teenagers who engage in oral sex don’t consider it to be real sex and view it as more casual. Dr. Oh says if that doesn’t change it might lead to a HPV epidemic and more cases of oral cancer.” Dentist: “80% of the population will eventually have HPV which is very scary to think about.” Dentist News Network reveals the biggest threat facing oral cancer patients are the dentists. Those who only perform selective cancer screenings based on common risk factors like age and genetics don’t realize the HPV threat. “Unfortunately, pre-screening still occurs in many dental offices because professionals are unaware of the new risk factor, HPV. And although it was reasonable in the past to pre-screen based on common risk factors, HPV now debunks this concept since HPV causes cancer in individuals that do not have the traditional risk factors. Everyone is at risk.” But if HPV vaccines have been approved since 2006, why wasn’t there a bigger push to get teens vaccinated? A contributor for AOL scrutinizes the manufactures’ one-sided view of the issue: “The massive push to vaccinate girls and women between the ages of 11 and 26 against HPV should have included boys and men from the beginning... But at the time [the vaccine] was licensed, there wasn't such an awareness about head or oral cancers or a willingness to accept that males played a part in the transmission of the virus.” According to the Center for Disease Control, only half of people who've been diagnosed with oral cancer will live longer than five years. *******tinyurl****/3s5ey5y/ One common factor of infertility is an early menopause. This is fairly common with heavy smokers, chemotherapy treatment, and those that are exposed to heavy radiations. This is also one of the top reasons why older women can't get pregnant. There are also some underlying medical problems that prevent a couple from having a child. Thyroid problems and undiagnosed diabetes can all lead to infertility. An undiagnosed STD can also case infertility. Yet, no matter how numerous the factors of infertility there is, there are still 25 to 30% cases of infertility which the reason behind was never found. This, according to doctors is due to lack of diagnosis. The bottom line is no matter how healthy you and your partner may be, that doesn't give you a 100% guarantee of having a child. The reasons for infertility are not always observable. So when should you ask for help getting pregnant? According to the American Association of Reproductive Medicine, if a couple has not achieved pregnancy after one year of unprotected sex, they should seek professional help getting pregnant. Also, if a woman is more than 35 years of age, she shouldnt wait for long. If you or your partner have any risk factors or symptoms of infertility, then waiting is no longer a good option . Like if a woman has irregular periods or if either partner has a history of sexually transmitted diseases, seeking help right away makes sense. Watch the next clip and be amazed by the facts about pregnancy. You can also visit the site *******tinyurl****/3s5ey5y/ or click the link below. *******tinyurl****/3s5ey5y/

Phil Johnson, M.D. discusses how having a sexually transmitted disease (STD) other than HIV (such as herpes, syphilis, gonorrhea, or chlamydia) can increase the risk of contracting or transmitting HIV. Preventing and treating other STDs is therefore an important step for preventing the transmission of HIV.
