Check out some sick shots of Stance:Nation meet last month from Jeff Payuan. You've probably heard that name before, if not then look around or check our flick for some of his work. There weren't a ton of cars but definitely some real clean stanced cars. Those are my favorite types of cars, one that look so hard but make it look effortless. Thrown out of stance. The discus (2 kilogram) landed between 30 and 31 meters (around a 100 feet). If you have any suggestions to improve my throw I don't mind hearing it.

Self-Defense Workout: Fighting Stance - part of the women's fitness video series by GeoBeats. So we are going to be looking at a fighting stance you would use in boxing or mixed martial arts or for self defense. Now the first thing you are going to do is step forward with your left foot if you are a right-handed fighter. So Nicole is going to step forward with her left foot and her hands come up for defense. So from this position she can be defensive or she can be offensive. She can throw her punches or if she faces me here. If I come and attack her on one side, she can cover here, she can cover on the other side. She can bottom weave underneath my arm here, the other way, or she can slip the punches, 1, 2. So if she faces the camera now you will see you can do this on your own and that will work pretty much every part of your body. So first bobbing and weaving from one side underneath and the other way. Awesome for your legs, and slipping the punches. 1, 2. Great for your core and your abs. And of course from here she can be defensive, she can cover, 1, 2. So if you add these movements moving around, stepping side to side, it can be a great workout, even if you are on your own.

My teammate with the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Milwaukee Brewers, Craig Council, used to have one of the strangest stances. Guess he’s changed it now, but he used to stand up there, his hands pointed so high. He was standing as straight up as he could and then he’d come down, and then he’d go back up. They were all reminders for him. They’d remind him different things. Keep his hands up, be flexed, who knows. He was doing so many things up there it was so confusing and if you asked him, he’d be the first to tell you, it was exhausting. So when we want to choose a stance. When were in the box we want to find a stance where were comfortable. We’ve talked about where we should be in the box, but where should our body be. We’re not going to talk about the head and our hands in this segment. We’re going to talk about our body. We want to start off with an athletic position. Well what’s an athletic position? Use this as a guide. When you get in your stance, are your knee’s flexed? Could you jump from this position or would your knees have to bend more to jump. So get in an athletic stance and jump. Now where you find yourself now is going to be your athletic stance. We need to have a little flex in our knees. We don’t need to be down here and we don’t want to be standing straight up tall. We want to have a little flex in our knees. We also want to make sure our front shoulder, our chest, our knees and our feet are all square to home plate. We don’t want to be turned too far this way. We don’t want to be closed off too far this way. We want to basically be square. We have this line right here. We want to basically follow this line with our chest, our knees, our feet. From this position, we’re going to give ourselves the best chance to succeed. Be careful with your chest. Leaning over too far is going to change the mechanics of your swing. We want to have our chest basically stacked up underneath us. I’m in a nice strong position right here. My weight is basically distributed 50/50, so half my weight is on both my legs. We want to be somewhere between 50/50 and 60/40, where there’s just a little bit more weight on the back foot. We need to be in a nice comfortable position like this before we get started. We know where we want to be in the box. But we got a good stance. We need to have a firm base under us. Also, make sure we always want to keep the weight on the inside part of our feet. We don’t want weight on the outside part of our feet. That’s going to cause problems. It’s going to cause tipping over, so keep the weight on the inside balls of our feet. Spread those feet out a little bit. Nice firm foundation. We always need a strong foundation. We’re balanced, our chest is stacked, our legs are under us, were comfortable. So the next time you get in the box, get a good stance, get an athletic position. Be comfortable up there. We’re hitters, we’re about to go to war, and have a great game. *******www.chadmoellerbaseball****/videos/hitting/baseball-hitting-stance-the-body/ Register at the Link Below: *******www.chadmoellerbaseball****/wp-login.php?action=register

In this hitting stance lesson we will not talk about what's going on inside the head but the actual position of the head. The head is the top of the axis. The angle of the head affects the rotation the body will follow. The angle of the head will also greatly affect your eyes. From our stance we already talked about our head should be square to the pitcher. The more level our head is the more level our swing will work around it. If our head starts to tilt so will our shoulders affecting the angle of our bat. You can quickly see how important the head position is to a consistent swing. *******www.chadmoellerbaseball****/videos/hitting/baseball-hitting-stance-hea... Most people that have watched baseball know what the batter stance stride may look like but what should take place in the stride to make it effective? Stride and separation describes what must happen with the hitter's front foot, body and hand the split second before the hitter attacks the ball. How and when this takes place will effect the success of the hitter and the mechanics of the swing. Lets start with timing. This will depend on the type of load the hitter uses but most hitters stride at or before release. The direction of the stride is very important and should always be at the pitcher, keeping everything square. The front foot should be closed to slightly open which will help keep the rest of the body in position. The longer the hitter can stay square to the ball the better. How far should the stride be? Balance must be maintained before and after the stride so a shorter stride allows this to happen more effectively. The body may move forward slightly with the stride but after the foot is down. The head and body should remain centered. Control the head and the body will follow. The hitter should land softly on the ball of foot. I have had hitting coaches refer to the stride as a reach. This thought process might help. *******www.chadmoellerbaseball****/videos/hitting/baseball-batter-stance-stri... So what does rhythm have to do with hitting? Rhythm is how the hitter relaxes their hand and or body before starting the swing. This can take look very different for each hitter. Some hitters move their hands up and down. Some open and close their hands and fingers on the bat or wiggle their fingers. . Others sway back and forth toward the pitcher. You can even find hitters who will go up and down with their feet almost like a toe tap. The hitter is keeping a rhythm to stay loose and relaxed before the pitch is delivered. The key once again is to avoid the extremes. The hitter does not want to have too many different movements going at one time. If the hitter sways back and forth they must be careful not to go to far. This movement is constantly changing the hitter's depth perception of the pitcher. The key with all of these is to have them stop at the right time. The hitter can be late getting ready if the pitchers start delivering the ball while the hitter is going forward in a sway. Like I said the rhythm is to stay loose so avoid the extremes. *******www.chadmoellerbaseball****/videos/hitting/baseball-hitting-stance-rhy... What is the load? Also known as the trigger or the take away. The load is a subtle movement in most cases that gets the hitters weight to his backside. This normally takes place as the pitcher is separating his hands. Here are some of the ways a load or take away can look. The most common is to simply shifting weight to the back leg. Avoid getting to much weight to the back leg. The leg kick is used by some hitters as a trigger. The leg kick should not be too high and should be up and down with out gaining ground. The toe tap in recent years has become a popular way to load. The front foot steps in place or slightly back before striding forward. Some hitters including my self at times will keep their feet in place but lifting the heel to load and sift weight to the back leg. (Pujols) Some hitters will use a knee cock to load while still others will use their hands to load. There are many ways to load but as always avoid extremes. But the load is necessary for the hitter to get ready to swing. *******www.chadmoellerbaseball****/videos/hitting/baseball-hitting-stance-the...
